Chapter 50: What The Future Holds

Marcos pushed Milo along the top of the wall surrounding the central capital, the cold breeze brushed past them, the scent of meats from the stalls below and scurrying of people that appeared as if they were ants enchanted even Milo. 

They had been granted special permission from the king to venture up this high. Normally, it was only used in the rare situation when the capital would need to be defended from outside threats. Milo looked over his shoulder back towards the royal castle that still stood proud. 

'I can't imagine anyone ever trying to break into this place'. 

He didn't even think it was possible, how could anyone even breach this fortress. Especially with the king at its centre, every knight here was at least the Ascent realm and also trained in swordplay. It was a death sentence for anyone even in King realm to set foot in here with hostile intent. 

So what was the need for all of the added security?
