Chapter 55 : Rin is Dead??
"Rin is off-limits!"
The shout came from behind, filled with defiance.
Uchiha Sogetsu raised his eyebrows, showing mild surprise as he turned to face the young man struggling to his feet. "You're still standing? Looks like I underestimated you, Obito."
Obito had clearly taken a beating, but the sight of the girl he cared about getting hurt seemed to ignite a new source of strength within him.
"Aarghhh!" Uchiha Obito wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth, bracing himself with one hand on the ground as he shakily stood up. His eyes burned with anger. "I don't care who you are; I won't let you hurt Rin!"
Tsk.
Looks like the beast is baring its fangs.
Uchiha Sogetsu frowned slightly, but his face showed no real emotion. His voice remained flat as he said, "But in your current state, what makes you think you have the right to talk to me like that?"
Clearly, Obito was still struggling, and not hitting hard enough to make a difference. Sogetsu didn't give him a chance to speak; he moved in close, swift and sudden.
"Damn, he's fast!"
Obito tried to form a hand seal, but a solid punch landed right in his face.
Boom!
"Too slow!"
Sogetsu's strike broke Obito's concentration, then he grabbed a fistful of Obito's hair and slammed his head into the ground.
Boom!
Another brutal hit that sent shockwaves through Obito's skull, making him wonder if he'd be left brain-damaged.
Then Sogetsu unleashed a flurry of punches, a relentless torrent that rained down on Obito's body, focusing particularly on his face.
"Aagh!"
"I give up."
"Stop hitting me."
"Spare me, Brother Sogetsu, I was wrong."
He couldn't remember how many punches he'd thrown.
By the end of the fight, Obito seemed to have lost the strength to scream. His body was in immense pain, and he was muttering incoherently about Rin.
"You're quite tenacious," Uchiha Sogetsu exhaled slowly. "After all those hits, you still care about others?"
"Now!"
Kakashi, who had been keeping his presence hidden, finally saw his chance. He knew Uchiha Sogetsu's skills well. If he didn't take advantage of this moment, it would be too late, and rushing out without a plan would be futile.
So, even though he saw Obito getting beaten, Kakashi chose to stay concealed, waiting for the right moment. And now that moment has come.
Swish, swish, swish!
Three kunai shot out from the dense forest, forming a pincer movement. Uchiha Sogetsu seemed a bit slow to react, only dodging at the last moment as the kunai zipped past him.
In an instant, Kakashi burst out from another direction, closing in with remarkable speed. He drew the short ninja sword from his back, recalling his father's White Fang sword technique.
He merged his breathing with his chakra and unleashed a dazzling blade strike from a challenging angle.
"It's about time you showed up." Uchiha Sogetsu smirked, clearly amused. "I've been waiting for you, Kakashi."
A trap!
Kakashi realized he was tricked, but it was too late to retreat.
If there's no turning back, then fight! Kakashi steeled himself, gathering his chakra. At that moment, he felt a new connection to the true essence of his father's White Fang sword style.
The sword shone like a dragon, gleaming like the moon.
A blade infused with a deadly chakra sliced downward from above, like a streak of cold light piercing through the air.
**Clang!**
In the next moment, two slender fingers intercepted the blade, pinching it between them.
Kakashi's eyes widened in shock. No matter how much force he applied to the sword, he couldn't move the blade even a fraction of an inch. It was as if it were clamped by iron tongs.
Uchiha Sogetsu smiled and counted down from three. "Bite down, Kakashi."
**Boom!**
The next instant, Kakashi was hit with a powerful punch to the face, sending him spinning backward.
He tumbled twice on the ground and rolled over a dozen times before finally coming to a stop. The left side of his face went numb, and he felt one of his front teeth loosening.
"One more thing," Uchiha Sogetsu announced.
He raised his foot and stomped down hard.
**Boom!**
The impact drove Uchiha Obito's head into the ground, with cracks spreading out like a spider's web.
Sogetsu slowly raised his right hand, gathering an ominous chakra. He glanced at the three severely injured ninja, then spoke with a chilling indifference:
"In ninja combat, medical ninjas shouldn't be on the front lines. Otherwise..."
The highly concentrated chakra underwent a sudden and drastic change!
**Buzz!!!**
The air around him roared with an intense buzzing sound as nearby currents gathered, causing debris and leaves to swirl wildly.
Finally, the strong winds concentrated in Sogetsu's palm, forming a translucent ring that spun and vibrated at such a high speed it was almost invisible.
"What incredible wind chakra!" Kakashi's pupils shrank to pinpricks. "And it's like Minato-sensei's Rasengan!"
Though the techniques looked different, their essence was the same.
Ninjutsu that can be executed without forming hand seals is collectively called "Sealless ninjutsu."
Kakashi stared at Uchiha Sogetsu, contemplating the wind attribute's chakra nature and form. An idea sparked in his mind. "Maybe I can try it too," he thought, "by changing the lightning attribute's shape and form in my hand!"
"It might look something like this," Sogetsu said, tossing a rapidly spinning ring towards Nohara Rin, who was immobilized.
"Wind Release: Eight-Point Light Wheel!"
The light wheel whirred as it spun at high speed, cutting through the air like a blade. The high-density wind chakra was compressed to the extreme, creating a gear-like shape with jagged edges.
As it was released, it tore into the ground, leaving a deep gash behind and a shrill, grinding sound.
Kakashi's eyes widened in shock. "Did he really just throw it?" He couldn't believe Sogetsu would use such lethal ninjutsu on them, especially against an injured Nohara Rin.
But he did throw it, and his target was the critically wounded Rin.
"Is this a joke?" Kakashi felt a chill run through his body as his pupils dilated in horror. What he saw next was like a descent into hell—the gruesome reality hit him hard.
Rip!
Rin was cleaved in half. Blood gushed like a fountain, and her body fell into two pieces. Her face still held a trace of life, mixed with disbelief and terror.
The two halves of her body dropped to the ground. Her once-familiar face was now reduced to just one side, facing Obito with vacant, lifeless eyes that seemed to ask, "Why didn't you save me?"
"Ahhhhhhh!!!"
Obito was paralyzed with shock as he took in the scene before him.
His initial shock gave way to an indescribable rage, emotions swirling violently, causing his eyes to turn red, veins bulging. It was as if time had slowed in his field of vision.
"Noooo!!!"
Obito went berserk, transforming into a wild beast, his eyes ablaze with fury as he roared, "Uchiha Sogetsu! I'm going to kill you! I will kill you!!"
"Don't look at me like that, Obito."
Uchiha Sogetsu raised his hand to adjust his glasses, his voice icy and edged with a sinister undertone. "You know what's pathetic? You're so weak that it's not even worth my time to kill you. Your hatred doesn't run deep enough!"
Obito's head was driven into the ground, his face smashed against the dirt, his bloodshot eye glaring with intense hatred. "I swear! I will kill you!"
