Chapter 149: Some People's Sequence 4 is Called Circus Master
Alice deduced Audrey's meaning from her expression and shook her head, saying, "Although the result is the same, the way you phrase it irritates me."
Audrey fell into deep thought.
The Fool, seated at the head of the bronze table, chuckled softly. After drawing everyone's attention, he said, "Next time, it's better if you discuss such matters among yourselves."
Audrey humbly accepted this lesson, vowing never to make the same mistake again.
"Miss Fate is much harder to deal with than Mr. Fool," she thought. "No, it's mainly because there's no ice cream above the gray fog."
Thinking of Gehrman Sparrow's narrow escape, Audrey sighed heavily inside.
In any case, this small interlude finally ended. After Mr. Fool openly read the diary, they moved on to the trading segment of the Tarot gathering.
"Hanged Man" Alger immediately turned to "The World" and said:
"Your 'Werewolf' characteristic sold for 1,200 pounds to an artisan. As agreed, I'll receive 200 pounds of that.
"Also, I found leads on deep sea naga hair. It's 100 pounds per strand, and you wanted 5 strands. If you have no questions about this deal, I'll complete it as soon as possible."
Klein was very satisfied with this. After brief consideration, he had "The World" respond: "No problem. Please get me 5 strands of deep sea naga hair and 500 pounds in cash as soon as possible."
"He's become wealthy..." Alice sighed inwardly. But then she remembered that Klein would soon spend the money on potion ingredients, which cheered her up.
Next, Alger looked at Alice and asked, "Miss Fate, do you mind if I don't disclose the full negative effects when helping you sell the 'Fortune Accessory'?"
This was Alger's compromise after some thought. Although it might affect his credibility if not handled well, he had to admit that few extraordinary individuals would be willing to gamble with their lives if told the whole truth.
After all, the price of 200 pounds already sounded ominous... Combined with its negative effects, it would easily make people suspect its previous owner's fate.
Though that was indeed the case.
"I don't mind," Alice shook her head decisively. "It's fine even if you make a profit as the middleman. As long as it sells, that's all that matters."
Seeing Alice's eagerness, Alger hesitantly asked, "Can't you resolve the side effects related to 'Fate'?"
Alice paused for a moment, then looked at Alger sincerely and said, "I haven't tried. If you don't mind, you can buy it and I'll give it a try."
Alger closed his mouth.
Hearing this, "The Sun" Derrick seemed to remember something and said to Alice:
"Miss Fate, I've completed several patrol missions recently without any anomalies. I'll find an opportunity to complete the ritual soon."
Alice lazily raised her hand and made an "OK" gesture.
Then, "Justice" Audrey also raised her hand and said without any pretense: "I'm looking to purchase three materials: a pair of mirror dragon eyes, 50 milliliters of its blood, and fruit from the Elder Tree."
Wow, Miss Justice is going for Sequence 7... Alice sat up, feeling a slightly stronger desire for advancement.
"I'll write to my teacher and inquire if he has any of these materials," Fors said after some thought.
Derrick nodded and added, "I'll keep an eye out too. Corrupted mirror dragons aren't rare, and neither are Elder Trees... uh, in Silver City. There's also the extraordinary characteristic left by the 'Psychiatrist', but it's hard to trade for and easily arouses suspicion."
The World of Puppets also spoke in a gloomy, hoarse voice: "I'll ask around in my circles. By the way, continue helping me look for the characteristics of the Human-Skin Shadow."
"Alright," Audrey turned confidently to face the opposite side, "Mr. Hanged Man, I'll also keep an eye out for the 'Wind-blessed' potion formula you need."
She's so confident... Alice marveled, sitting up straight to ask: "Do any of you know which pathway has a Sequence 1 called 'Writer'?"
"'Writer'? Is there such a sequence name?" Audrey asked in surprise.
"That's nothing. Some people's Sequence 4 is even called Circus Master..." Alice pouted, starting to spread rumors about Mr. Fool.
Circus Master Fool gritted his teeth in the gray fog.
"Wow, is that really a sequence name?" Audrey believed it.
"Magician" Fors also looked surprised, seemingly believing Alice's nonsense.
Alger frowned, glancing at Alice, then at Mr. Fool and "The World", feeling something was off.
Derrick... Derrick didn't know what a circus master was.
Finally, "The World" ended this farce with a gloomy, hoarse voice:
"Miss Fate, I believe my Sequence 4 is not called Circus Master.
"Also, I suggest you describe the abilities of 'Writer' in detail."
Alger's mouth twitched twice as he forcibly controlled his expression.
Audrey opened her mouth, then closed it, deciding not to comment on this matter.
Fors silently withdrew her gaze, biting her lower lip painfully to avoid laughing out loud.
... Mr. World's life must be so miserable.
— This was the unanimous thought of the other Tarot Club members.
Alice pouted and muttered, "Circus Master makes perfect sense..."
Although she hadn't given up on her wish to rename Klein's Sequence 4 to Circus Master, Alice began to introduce the abilities of "Writer" as per "The World's" request:
"I'm not very clear on the specifics... but Amon told me that 'Writer' has the ability to make written stories come true, like Magic Brush Maliang... Hey, if there's a 'Writer', why isn't there a 'Painter'?"
"Magic Brush Maliang?" This caught Audrey and Fors' attention.
"...Amon said this?" This was Alger's focus.
Alice blinked in confusion, seemingly unaware of what was problematic about her words.
Alger paused for a moment, then explained himself: "...I'm just a bit confused. I originally thought you only had a battle with Amon."
"Ah..." Alice blinked, seriously recalling her experiences from those days, and replied, "If He hadn't possessed me, we actually had quite a good time."
Alger decided to pretend he hadn't heard anything.
"Miss Fate, what is 'Magic Brush'? Is it the name of a mystical item?" Audrey raised her hand and asked. [Note 1]
