Chapter 61: Let me go

I woke up a few hours later, feeling groggy but slightly more rested. The infirmary was quiet, save for the soft beeping of medical equipment and the faint hum of the air conditioning. I rubbed my eyes and stretched, feeling the stiffness in my muscles start to ease.

As I sat up, I decided it was time to leave this sterile environment and return to the comfort of my own room.

Swinging my legs over the side of the bed, I stood up slowly, making sure I had my balance. Just as I was about to head for the door, the infirmary nurse appeared, her eyes narrowing as she saw me out of bed.

"And where do you think you're going?" she asked, her voice a mix of sternness and concern.

"I need to get back to my room," I replied, trying to sound as reasonable as possible. "I feel fine now."

The nurse crossed her arms, blocking my path. "You are not leaving this infirmary until I say you're ready. You were in here for a reason, young lady."
