I hummed in agreement, and everyone sat down around the campfire. Ninth Master Chang helped raise the temperature for me, allowing me to sit outside in just my thermal clothing without freezing.
I took out quite a few snacks from my backpack, and placed them respectfully on small plates in front of everyone. Seeing my respectful manner, each of them straightened up.
"I see that this Valley of Death is not really haunted by any ghosts or gods..."
"Yes, this place isn't inherently frightening. It's just that the surroundings are too desolate. For example, yaks that aren't in the best condition might get eaten by wolves before they even get here; hence all the animal corpses along the way. But there's really none of that chaotic nonsense here. We occasionally go hunting outside, but we usually don't bother the small animals in the center."
