Chapter 2: Chapter 2 - The System Is Here
*Chirp*
Sunlight filtering through the window woke me up much to my annoyance.
For some reason my entire body ached really badly.
It took me a moment to realise but suddenly everything hit my like a truck.
'Wait wait! Aren't I supposed to be dead!? What is going on!? Where am I!?'
Panic sat in as I found myself in an unknown place. Suddenly a sharp pain ran through my right hand. I looked down and saw it was bandaged. Not just that but almost my entire body was covered in bandages.
'What in the world happened to me...'
I was analysing my body when I realised it. This body was really small. I had baby hands. I looked around and found a mirror at the corner of the room.
Slowly getting up from the bed and biting my lips to endure the pain, I limped up to the mirror and saw myself.
'Yeah sure enough. I am in a child's body. I thought I died. Did I get reincarnated? Transmigrated? Which one was it ?'
For some reason I was calm. Maybe because I already accepted my death in my previous life. Maybe because I didn't really have any attachments in my past life. I don't know.
*Creak*
As soon as my monologue ended, the door to the room opened and a kind looking old lady walked in.
(3rd Person's Pov)
Mary's eyes widened slightly when she saw Raiden standing. But that shock soon turned to a frown.
"Young man what are you doing out of your bed already. You shouldn't be moving in that condition"
She immediately picked him up and tucked him in his bed before he realised what happened.
Mary started checking his body and was surprised how fast he healed. Most of his wounds were closed. All that was left was for him to regain his strength.
*Sigh*
"How are you feeling boy. Does it hurt anywhere?"
The young boy still processing what was happening and who this old lady was just shook his head indicating he was fine.
He did find it weird that he understood a completely foreign language without any issues. He chalked it up to him inheriting the old body's memories.
Mary stood up.
"Well that's good. That old coot will be here to see you anytime. It's good you're up already."
"Old coot ?"
"Hm? Oh I mean Old Rock. The man who saved you from drowning young man."
Oh. It seemed like the orginal owner was in some sort of shipwreck given how Mary described it.
Not the best way to start a new life.
As if on cue a loud voice made his presence known.
Rock made his way in through the small door that was clearly way too small for his massive frame.
"Boy how are you ?" He asked with voiced laced with concern.
"I'm fine...grandpa." He was surprised by how squeaky his voice was and mentally sighed.
'At least the small body will save me from the embarrassment.'
"Hehe. He called me grandpa." Rock had a silly smile on his face.
Mary sighed and slapped the old man on his back with an unnatural strength. That was enough to bring the old man out of his trance and they both started bickering.
The young boy sighed at their antics.
*Cough*
"Um grandpa grandma where am I ?"
He decided to learn in to the cute little grandson role. That's the best way to get some information out of the, what seemed to be an old couple ? He didn't know but they both did look like a couple.
"Boy this is Black Rock island. I found you in a shipwreck. You were lucky I was there fishing. God knows what would've happened otherwise. Anyways what happened? Did pirates attack your ship? Those damn punks!"
Before he could say anything Mary gave him a locket.
"We found you clutching this. It is yours right?"
The young boy looked the rather expensive looking locket. When he turned it around he saw a name written on it which is assumed was his name.
SILVERS D RAIDEN

'D? Don't tell me...'
[*Ding]
[Connection with host established]

"Wh..what!?"
"Hm? What happened Riden are you alright?" Mary asked her voice lacd with concern.
Raiden looked up at her and composed himself. 'I'll look at that later.'
"Um. I'm alright just a little tired grandma." He nodded his head.
"But how do you know my name?" He asked her with a cutesy voice that said ' I'm suspicious of you.'
Mary chuckled and gently ruffled his hair.
"I read it on your locket. Now you talk to your 'grandpa'. I'll bring you something to eat."
With that Mary left the room leaving Raiden and Rock alone.
"So what happened boy ?" Rock asked him in a serious voice.
Raiden, who by this point had already cooked up a story, started speaking in the most innocent sobbish voice.
"I..I don't remember. My mom and I we..were kidnapped by pirates. I don't know who they were. *Sob*. They said they will sell us. But then a shop came. It had a white flag with something written on it. I don't remember what it was. But both of them started fighting. They blew up the pirate ship a..and mommy died there.*Sob*. I don't remember what happened after that.*Sob*."
Rock was shocked that the little boy went through so much. He hugged the crying boy and comforted him.
"Those damn marines. They didn't even care to check if there were hostages in the ship."
*Sigh*
"You're safe now boy. I'm sorry for you mom. Take rest Mary will bring you food. I'll see you later okay ?"
"En." Raiden nodded his head while wiping off his tears.
Rocks stood up, ruffled his hairs and left the house.
Finally after an Oscar worthy performance Raiden was alone in the room.
Having read enough system novel he said the exact word that worked everytime for every reincarnated protagonist.
"Status"

Raiden sighed as he look at the translucent blue screen infront of him.

He looked at everything and decided to use his skill card first. His own innate skills was only F ranked and still useful so he was hopeful the D ranked one would be a good skill.
