Chapter 29: Realization
"Yes, you are right. I'm lucky.", Juli tried her best to smile, "Oh My, It's very late now. We should sleep now. We will continue our discussion in the morning. Have a good night, Tia."
Domitia thought maybe Livia was living away from her parents and she missed them.
Juli came to her room and opened her diary. She wrote, "Day 4", on the top of the new page.
"Met Lucius and Domitia again."
"Flavia took Domitia with her and we went to the temple."
"Flavia is not bothered by Lucius and Domitia."
"Domitia is my friend now."
"P.S. Lucius is a good chef."
Juli stared at the page after writing all the points. The most and least surprising thing for her was Flavia's reaction toward Lucius. One day, she was crying the other day, she pretended to be unbothered. Did she really pretend it, or she was not bothered at all?
This whole chaos was fretting her. "She planned a trip to the borders with her fiancé and before going there. She broke her leg in an accident."
"Then she forced her fiancé to go there without her. It is complicated. She didn't stop there. She spied on him and forced him to stay here until she turned twenty years old. But why."
Juli was thinking. "I got it... She wants to become Queen of Publius like her mother. She had used Lucius as bait after being trapped to marry him."
"But it can't be true. It is a most realistic assumption now, based on the behavior of Flavia and the present circumstances."
"Let's assume that this hypothesis is correct. So, Flavia's dream is to become the queen and rule the country. Her dream should be her happiness as well."
"Then my half problem is already solved. I know what Flavia wants and what are her happiness. Now, I just need to help her achieve this dream. Maybe, that is the main issue."
"Why was I reincarnated powerless? I should have reincarnated as the emperor. No, that's so tiring. I couldn't handle my job and ruling a whole empire. No, that is a big no."
"But what should I do? Should I try hypnosis? No, I've no talent in it. I'm useless."
"She just wants to imitate her mother. What is wrong with this world? Let the girl live her dream life."
Juli thought. But her mind stuck on the words, "imitate her mother", and she laughed at those words. "Every child imitates their parents.", she thought.
"Like, Domitia wants to experience a love marriage like her parents and Flavia wants to be a queen. When the latter is just a guess but still most children imitate their parents even without knowing it."
"But did I ever imitate my parents? Let me think….", Juli thought.
"Yeah, I did imitate my mother by cooking for my family and taking care of Anna. I imitated my father by giving pocket money to Anna. But all these actions were not imitations. These were my responsibilities."
"Let's think again. I got it. I didn't move like my other friends. I lived in my parents' house and had planned to live there till my marriage (If I ever got) like my mother."
"But the real reason was my mother's thrifting nature. She suggested to me that I could save more by living with them and my cheap nature also agreed with it."
Juli closed her diary and went to sleep again. She was half slept. She had a dream where her parents were fighting over the budget. She was only seven years old at that time. Anna was five months old.
Juli opened her eyes and murmured, "At that time, I had decided to never have any kids. Mom and Dad were happy without us. They were perfect parents, but they forgot about themselves. They always preferred us."
"I don't have the guts to do the same. I can never imitate my parents. That was also one of the reasons. I had avoided dating anyone. I couldn't even give them their thirtieth-anniversary gift."
Juli had tears in her eyes. "Let's leave this world as soon as possible and have an eternal rest forever."
A maid awoke Juli in the morning. Juli's eyes were swollen. She instructed the maid to bring cold water for her. Juli thought for a few seconds about whether they had cold water or not. But she had already given the maid orders.
The maid brought the cold water. It was not icy water, but it was cold enough to lessen the swelling of her eyes. She wanted to spend some time alone. She had breakfast in her room.
Domitia came to see her and asked about her. Juli told her that she was under the weather. Domitia blamed herself for keeping her awake till midnight. Juli told her not to worry about her.
Domitia was going to visit the temple again because of rituals. Juli farewelled her. She felt guilty because she was the one who was intrigued.
Juli slept again. Her body was heavy. She realized that someone had visited her, but she didn't have any energy to open her eyes. Someone also said something, but her body didn't move.
Juli woke again after a few hours. She saw a table in her room. It was not there before. There was a bowl of soup maybe. Juli ate it slowly. It was still hot.
She was feeling better now. She got up from her bed and changed her clothes.
Juli started to wander into the house to find Quintus and Flavia. The servants told her that Quintus had gone to work, and Flavia was checking the arrangements for the upcoming guests.
Juli marched toward the room, where Flavia was present. She didn't have any particular reason to see her. She was just dying of boredom.
"Bang", Juli opened the door forcefully, but Flavia didn't respond at all. Juli closed the door again.
"Slam", Juli put an extra force this time. "Don't be childish.", Flavia responded.
"It's Detective Juli here. I'm here to investigate Ms. Flavia here.", Juli announced.
