Chapter 72: Winding City Dead Ends

"Are you sure you won't need Quin to accompany you?" Marnthe asked for the nth time that morning as he walked Geale out the door.

The restaurant bar was on another one of its regular breaks and Geale said he would be out most of the day on a friends trip in the mainland. This was the first time he would be setting out on his own far into the city, with only a virtual map guiding his way.

"You have Quin's number on your phone, right?" Marnthe continued.

Geale bitterly sighed. "Yes, you made sure I did last night. I'm going to be fine without him."

"Just don't hesitate to contact him if you get lost, or encounter anything uncomfortable out there."

"Is the mainland city that scary?"

"Well, no…Not really, but you can never be too careful. It's better to be safe than sorry."

"I read that statement somewhere before."

"Because it's true, especially in situations like this."

"Should I stay here with you instead?"
