Chapter 6: Clifford

"Ah, alright, alright. Clifford is in his usual room. Mind talking to him nicely, who knows what he might do." Zuberi laughed like never before and kindly asked the bartender for another drink.

We made our way to the room, weaving through different people, and many times I had to dodge them to avoid hitting them. As soon as I arrived, I found myself in front of this small room, three men talking among themselves, all three emanating a frightening energy. My mind was once again in total anxiety, feeling my heart beating faster and a pain in my chest growing more pronounced. Then I looked at all three, and among them, one was extremely unsettling.

What did he look like? Next to him was also a tiger, but it wasn't normal. It was a tiger with saber teeth.

"An animal," I said aloud.

"Hm, and who's he?" The other two hooded men looked at me.

"He's your last hunter, Clifford," Andrey said, now tired. His demeanor changed, seeming servile, and his authority completely vanished.

"Andrey and Allison, do you seriously think you can just come... whenever you want?" That was definitely Clifford, the only one of the three who spoke those words and had his face uncovered. That scarred face, that coldness and power he emanated, I felt like I could die at any moment.

"Excuse us, we wanted to—" Allison began but was interrupted.

"Wanted? Do you have the power to decide... now?" Clifford began to look at his drink and play with it, moving it back and forth as if he wanted to spill it on the table.

"Mr. Clifford, we've come to settle the debt through this boy, who will become one of your hunters, what do you think?" Andrey asked, lowering his head.

"Hm, a hunter..." he observed me, deliberately spilling the drink on the table.

"I'm fine with it, after all, hunters are just meat for slaughter, you know. But to prove your faith in this young promise, my dear Andrey, what do you think about licking my delicious drink that fell on the table?" Those words and that power were used in an immeasurable amount, Clifford was incredibly terrifying.

"Of course," Andrey was sweating, almost seemed like he wanted to hold back his tongue. He began to lower his head more and more until he started to stick out his tongue and put it on the table. A disgusting scene.

"But good boy, you see... it means you believe in the boy, I like that. However, if he were to die right away, I believe our debt will have to double," Clifford said.

"WHAT?" I said to myself. Clifford's words were not to be disobeyed.

"Good, what's your name, boy?" His eyes scrutinized me to the core, as if he understood my fear.

"Dylan Garcia and I—" I tried to speak, but I immediately shut up.

"Good, from today you'll be number 24, follow my associate." The hooded man on the right stood up and took me by the shoulder, leading me away from that huge nightclub. We entered a completely black and sealed elevator.

"What will happen to me now?" I thought of the worst.
