Change
My mother made me get out of bed. During that time, I had dropped out of school. After what had happened, I didn't feel the need to meet anyone new; I didn't want to get attached to anyone anymore.
"GET UP!" her voice echoed throughout the room. I went to the kitchen and started eating. Since I wasn't going to school anymore, I decided to work at a bar. I earned just enough. After all, my mother wanted all the money I made. She was still my guardian, providing me with a home and food.
"Are you getting paid today?" Still with my back turned, she was washing who knows what.
"Yes, I'm getting paid today," I replied calmly, while drinking juice.
"Good, don't hide any money and give it all to me," she immediately demanded. Her way of doing things didn't make me dislike her; in fact, thanks to her, I understood how sick and full of parasites the world was. Like many others, I had become a parasite.
"I'm going," I descended the stairs of the apartment. I had to hurry, or else there would be problems. As soon as I opened the door of the apartment, I collided with a man. I fell to the ground and saw him looking down at me. An adult with short hair, an unkempt beard, and street clothes.
"Perhaps we've found just what we need," the man said. Those words immediately caught the attention of a woman nearby, the same one in the long dress I had seen a few years ago.
"But he's just bones," she countered.
"We don't have time; we need a boy. Don't you want to seize this opportunity?" His tone was much more assertive. I remained motionless, my fear suffocating my mind, unable to imagine anymore. Knowing the area and the people who lived there, such a situation was entirely plausible, but I never wanted to experience those situations, yet here I am... part of it.
