Chapter 80: Questioning Jiraiya!
Jiraiya touched his forehead and felt the forehead protector on his head.
"I have it," he said, and Tsunade's expression changed at his words. Hiruzen looked at Jiraiya's forehead and a frown appeared on his face as he noticed that Jiraiya was wearing a different forehead protector than Konoha's.
"Jiraiya, what do you mean by this?"
Hiruzen asked with a frown on his face, and he forgot about what he had been here to talk about. For him, the issue regarding the forehead protector Jiraiya wore is much more important than the issue regarding Jinchuuriki.
The only reason why he wanted to talk about Jinchuuriki is that even though he knew that Tsunade was strong, he didn't know just how strong she was.
He did hear the words that Tsunade captured Nibi on her own, but Hiruzen didn't know how true they were. If only Hiruzen knew that she isn't like him who boasts to be the Strongest Hokage and God of Shinobi.
"Eh?" Jiraiya said as he heard the words, and he wondered what they were talking about.
"Aren't I wearing one?" He asked and Hiruzen took the forehead protector off from his head and showed it to him.
"Oil? When did Konoha's symbol change to Oil?" Hiruzen asked and Tsunade frowned at Jiraiya. Looking at their expression, Jiraiya knew that he was in trouble, and he said, "Ahaha! Don't be so serious. It was given by Sage Gamamaru when he told me about prophecy and asked me to represent the land."
"Represent them? Why? I don't wear a slug protector. Orochimaru didn't wear a Snake protector. What about you, Jiraiya?"
"Have you changed your affiliation from Konoha to Toad land? Do you not know the meaning of the Forehead protector, or have you become strong enough to not follow the village's rules?"
Tsunade said with a sharp look in her eyes as she stared at Jiraiya who flinched at her words. Hiruzen nodded as he agreed with her words and even though he had retired, he still wore the forehead protector on his arm.
Being a Konoha Ninja is his identity that he is proud of, and the forehead protector shows it.
Jiraiya looked at the eyes on him and he checked his pockets. His expression changed when he noticed that he didn't have a Konoha Forehead Protector on him.
"Jiraiya! How do you want to get punished? Not wearing a forehead protector every time is something I can accept but wearing some other place's protector, I can't accept this as Hokage of the village."
Tsunade said sharply with a cold look in her eyes and Hiruzen who stood beside him, didn't say or retort her words.
Some things can't be done, even if you are a Kage Level Ninja, student of Third Hokage, teacher of Fourth Hokage, or comrade of Fifth Hokage and Sannin.
Jiraiya's expression changed at her words, and he looked at Third Hokage, who turned away his head. He looked at Tsunade and asked, "Hokage, you don't think I betrayed the village, do you?"
"What do you think, Jiraiya?" Tsunade asked back as she looked at her comrade who seemed to have changed since the last time she saw him.
"I just forgot about it. Besides, Mt. Myobokku has helped me so it's natural that I repay them."
"They wanted me to----"
"Jiraiya!" Tsunade shouted as she slammed the table and looked at Jiraiya.
"Do you not understand what I am talking about? Repaying them for help? Yeah, I can accept this reason, but it's doesn't mean that you can wear a forehead protector that represents them instead of Konoha's forehead protector. You have already wasted years while looking for Child of Destiny because of some stupid prophecy and repaid them.
"If Child of Destiny will bring peace to the world, as said by that damned toad, then does it mean that our efforts are futile?"
"First, Second and Third! Three Shinobi Wars happened, and more than 100,000 Ninjas died on battlefields."
"What did they fight for? They fought for their village, for peace of their village and defend against raiders."
"Don't you already know why war starts? Three Shinobi Wars, all of them were Konoha V/S the four villages."
"The reason is because of resources and the Daimyo of the five nations want to decrease the number of ninjas!"
"You have lived for forty years and survived two wars, but you haven't understood all of this."
"If the child of destiny will bring peace and solve everything, then should I let Nibi get released in the village? Should I have not made Kumo, and others pay? Should I not have stopped Orochimaru and let him continue experiments? Should I not have taken the responsibility for the village and became Hokage?"
"Do you want to say that everything I do is futile or everything I have been doing is to just pass the time so that some child of destiny grows up and solves everything?"
"Haha~! Jiraiya, how big of your ego is? Do you think you are so awesome that you can be a teacher of Child of Destiny? Haha~"
"You aren't better than me, or Orochimaru. You didn't teach anything to Minato, and it was he who developed a Ninjutsu and learned S-Rank Flying Thunder God Technique that no one could for twenty years."
"You are naive and think that peace will come if people understand each other. Haha~! Jiraiya, if I bring the killer of Minato and Kushina in front of you, will you kill him? Of course, you would."
"But this contradicts your words. You should first listen to his story and understand why he killed Kushina, Minato and more than 1000 people who died because of Nine Tails."
"No! They didn't die because of him. He just released Nine Tails and controlled him to attack Konoha. He didn't have an interest in killing people but only attacked Konoha. It's their fault for going in between, right? It's their fault for staying in the village, right?"
"That's what you will think and defend him, right? I am sure that you won't kill the killer because he has families and if you did, their family would hate you! Hahaha! How could someone like you who wants a peaceful world and thinks that peace will come with mutual understanding, kill others and increase hatred."
"Isn't that right, Jiraiya?"
Tsunade, who shouted everything in one breath, had heavy breaths and she took the glass of water that Kazutora gave to her. Her throat went dry because of the words she said, and Hiruzen looked at her with dumbfounded words.
He didn't think that Tsunade would speak facts and have him take the bitter truth instead of explaining and asking patiently.
'Well done! Tsunade!'
Hiruzen applauded Tsunade in his mind and if it wasn't for serious atmosphere, he would have clapped his hands. Jiraiya looking for Son of Prophecy is something Hiruzen hated as he knew that it was stopping Jiraiya from increasing his strength and wasting his time.
Kazutora looked at Tsunade with a smile on his face and then he looked at Jiraiya who had lost on his face. The words that Tsunade spoke are something many people thought of in his past life.
But they didn't care much since it's just fiction and left it as a plot hole by Kishi. However, it's the real world for him and after knowing many things about the village, Kazutora wondered how Jiraiya was allowed to wear a different headband.
He had a similar question about Tsunade leaving Konoha, but he got to know that Tsunade had submitted a report first and then left Konoha.
"Huh? Jiraiya, why aren't you answering or saying anything? I asked you a lot of questions, at least answer one."
"Just answer about the guy behind the Nine Tails Incident. Will you kill him or not?"
Tsunade said while putting some pressure on Jiraiya and it made him wake up from his thoughts.
"I-I will kill him. Whatever his circumstances maybe." Jiraiya answered with a conflicted expression on his face, but his words had determination to do as he says.
"Then, do you think Peace will come through Mutual Understanding?" Tsunade asked and a troubled look appeared on his face. He has been keeping those words as his creed and Jiraiya said, "I don't know, but I believe those words."
"Haha~! You are a naive fool, Jiraiya. Just like my grandpa who believed in others but in the end, they betrayed his trust."
Tsunade said with a laugh and Hiruzen wanted to say something but stopped as he thought of Tsunade's dual identities, the current Hokage and Hashirama-Sama's granddaughter.
"But, you aren't like my grandpa. Why? It was because he had strength to make others sit down and talk with him but if you did, they would flip the table and slap you on the face."
"Jiraiya, do you know that I have bought 50 people from Kumogakure? Some of them have the bloodline of Senju and Uzumaki. All of them are descendants of people who were kidnapped by Kumogakure."
"They were tortured mentally and physically to turn them into puppets and then used as breeding tools in the village."
"Now, say that you saved someone like them, and they want to destroy Kumogakure and have revenge on them. What will you do? Will you kill them or help them in revenge?"
"No, scratch about helping them which you don't have guts to do. Just tell me if you will kill them or let them go? Letting them go will cause more than 1000s of deaths and increase a lot of hatred and you know of this."
"But if you kill them, thousands of lives will be saved and Kumogakure will be peaceful."
"Now choose, Jiraiya! What option will you choose or what will you do?"
Hiruzen and Jiraiya's expression changed at her words and Hiruzen asked, "Is this true? How did this happen? Did you ask for an explanation?"
"Third Hokage, you will know these things later. For now, remain silent and let Jiraiya talk."
Tsunade said to Hiruzen, who shut his mouth. If the question was asked to him, he wouldn't even think for a second and answer. He would help them by giving thousands or even ten thousand of Detonating Talisman and then guide them to Kumogakure's center.
As for what they would do with detonating talismans, Haha! Hiruzen had the answer, and he would even applaud them and think of them as the village's heroes.
Usually, he might be a peace lover but if he gets a chance to damage the other village thoroughly, especially Kumogakure who has been a pain for years to Konoha, Hiruzen would gladly do it.
Jiraiya looked at Tsunade as he thought of her question and a sigh escaped his lips. He couldn't let them get revenge on Kumo as those who weren't involved in it would die, but he also couldn't just kill them as they had already suffered so much.
"I don't know," Jiraiya said and the room became silent with heavy tension in the atmosphere.
