Chapter 28: Chapter 28: The Lumos Charm

Kyle didn't know much about Cho Chang, Cedric's future girlfriend, and Harry Potter's white moonlight. He had never interacted with her.

The only thing he knew was that she was in Ravenclaw.

But now he knew another thing about her... she was helpful.

After all, not every Ravenclaw would take the initiative to help others. They would rather immerse themselves in their world, pondering their studies or other things.

Of course, that doesn't mean Ravenclaws are all cold. They are simply different personalities. If someone asks them for help, Ravenclaws are very willing to assist.

In short, they don't take the initiative, but they don't refuse.

Cho Chang was talking to her friends, so Kyle just glanced at her and looked away.

"It's only the first class. What's going to happen in the future? We can't always leave an hour early."

Next to him, Mickel scratched his head, saying in despair, "I'm going to be late one day."

"Don't worry. The Hogwarts professors won't expel students for being late. They'll just deduct some points." Kyle patted his shoulder comfortingly, "By the way, let me show you something good."

"Something good?"

Mickel and Ryan leaned over curiously.

Kyle took out the map and spread it on the table, "Thanks to Cedric, otherwise you guys would be lost for a while."

"This is… a Hogwarts map?"

Mickel was still wondering what it was. But Ryan, whose father was a wizard, immediately recognized it, "Where did you get this? Can I copy it? I promise I'll give it back after class."

"Of course, we're roommates." Kyle nodded, then turned to Mickel, "What about you? Do you want to copy it?"

Mickel was tempted, but he shook his head.

He was new to the wizarding world and didn't want to waste any opportunity to learn magic, especially Charms, a crucial subject.

"Can I copy it after class?" Mickel asked.

"Okay, no problem."

Kyle nodded, then lightly tapped the map with his wand, "Duplicatus."

The spell was complete, and an identical map instantly appeared on the table.

Kyle looked at it for a moment, confirming that there were no problems before handing it to Mickel.

"Here you go. The magic in this should last about a week. You can copy it whenever you want."

"???"

Mickel took the map, looking completely bewildered. He subconsciously turned to Ryan, who was equally baffled.

Ryan was stunned. He looked at Kyle, then at the parchment in front of him, feeling a burning sensation on his face. He was about to say something when a voice suddenly came from in front of them.

"A brilliant Copying Charm. Five points for Hufflepuff!"

Kyle was startled. He quickly raised his head, but only looked at Cho Chang. He looked more closely and realized that another person was standing in front of the table.

The person was really short. They weren't even as tall as the table. They were completely blocked by it.

"Thank you for the compliment, Professor Flitwick," Kyle said.

Flitwick smiled and said, "I'm just telling the truth. Mr. Chopper, is that your name?"

Kyle nodded, "Yes, Professor."

"It seems my memory is still sharp." Professor Flitwick finished, then turned to Mickel, "Can you show me that map?"

Mickel hadn't recognized the short wizard at first, but he quickly remembered Kyle's address and quickly handed the map to him.

"Alright… yes, Professor."

"Thank you."

Flitwick took the map and carefully felt it before returning it to Mickel.

"Oh, the magic is very stable. Unless something goes wrong, this copy should last until noon eight days from now."

Professor Flitwick winked at Kyle and said with a hint of regret, "If the exam at the end of term was about the Copying Charm, I would give you an 'O'. But for now, I can only give Hufflepuff three more points."

"Professor!"

A Ravenclaw student asked, "Can't you use the Copying Charm to create something permanent?"

"No, Miss Mittal." Flitwick said, "If copies could be permanent, Flourish & Blotts wouldn't have so many parchments in their window."

"Not even Dumbledore can do it?" Another student asked.

"Unfortunately, no." Professor Flitwick shook his head and continued, "Even if the Headmaster could make his copies last for a hundred years or even longer, it wouldn't last forever."

"Alright, let's stop talking about the Copying Charm for now. It's too advanced for you. Let's start the lesson."

Professor Flitwick turned and walked onto the book stand, facing all the students, "This lesson, we'll learn the Lumos Charm. This is also one of the most basic charms. The spell is 'Lumos'. Watch carefully..."

Learning the Lumos Charm in the first Charms lesson wasn't surprising for Kyle. This spell was considered the most straightforward in the wizarding world.

You didn't even need to worry about the hand movements. As long as you were a wizard, had a wand, and could speak, you could cast it.

Earlier, the Lumos Charm was even used to distinguish between wizards and Squibs. The accuracy was very high, almost 100%.

You could say that if someone couldn't even cast the Lumos Charm, then they weren't a wizard.

Based on this situation, Professor Flitwick simply demonstrated the casting process of the Lumos Charm once. Then, he let the students start trying it out on their own.

Soon, the classroom was lit up with twinkling lights, some big, some small, some bright, some dim...

Although Kyle was a step slower and wasn't the first to succeed, the light on his wand was steady.

It was like a light bulb that was plugged in, constantly emitting a steady, soft white light.

Unfortunately, there were no points for this.

Because he wasn't the only one who could do this. Seven students from Ravenclaw could also make their wands emit a steady light.

As for Hufflepuff… there weren't many, but only six fewer than the other side. Not a huge difference.

"Don't forget what I said before, stay steady, don't panic." Professor Flitwick reminded them shrilly, "Make sure you calm down, like when you're picking up something ordinary. Enunciating the spell is also very important. Don't mispronounce it."

Under his guidance, more and more students successfully cast a stable "light bulb."

Kyle looked at his two roommates… they were still trying
