The adults' usual trickery couldn't fool Kyle, but it wasn't entirely without results. At least, it scared Ron and Ginny quite a bit.
Especially Ron. He was initially quite interested in the topic, listening intently, trying to gain some experience in advance for starting school next year.
But the more he listened, the uglier his face became.
Trolls, ghosts, Hippogriffs, those were okay. Although absurd, as long as he turned and ran, there was a chance of survival. After all, the Hogwarts professors were not just decorations.
But what about the dragon?
A XXXX-level magical creature, even an adult wizard wouldn't necessarily survive an encounter. Let alone an eleven-year-old wizard. The professor's spells wouldn't even be finished before he was blown to ashes by a sneeze.
This is school?
Ron's heart sank. He even thought about running away from home. He didn't want to go to Hogwarts, he didn't want to go, he just wanted to live.
Ginny wasn't much better.
Her face was pale, and her once beautiful red hair was now dull.
"What's wrong, Ginny?"
Seeing this, Kyle, who was sitting across from her, asked with concern, "Why aren't you eating? Are you feeling unwell?"
"No, no."
Ginny didn't want to admit to her family that she was scared. Seeing Kyle looking at her, she shook her head quickly, "I'm just full."
A nine-year-old girl's appetite wasn't very big, and she had already eaten half a box of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans. Ginny had finished eating.
She was probably about 80% full, at a point where she could eat or not eat. It was just that the sudden topic of Sorting had completely wiped out her appetite.
"Oh, that's too bad."
Kyle didn't hesitate. He calmly stood up picked up the untouched roasted fish in front of Ginny and put it on his plate.
Roasted fish was different from other food. Once it sat for a long time, the flavor would be greatly reduced, which would be a pity. It was better that he ate it.
It's worth mentioning that Mrs. Weasley's roasted fish was excellent, a hidden skill.
But because she had to take care of a whole family, and deboning fish was troublesome, she usually only cooked this dish for important holidays.
Of course, it was also partly because the price of fish was quite expensive in the wizarding world.
But anyway, Kyle had been craving it for a long time. He couldn't just let this delicious food go to waste.
Ginny knew this, but she didn't stop him.
She had originally wanted to save the fish for later and savor it slowly, but after learning that she would face a dragon in two years, she no longer had the mood to eat. She could only watch with a heartbroken expression as Kyle stuffed the fish that belonged to her into his mouth.
She turned her head and pretended not to see it.
Meanwhile, Fred and George both sighed.
They had been eyeing that fish for a long time, but Kyle was too quick. They didn't even have a chance.
The unwilling twins turned their attention to Ron.
Unfortunately, Ron didn't have Ginny's habit. His fish had long turned into bones. He had eaten it clean. Even a Flobberworm could slip on it.
"What's wrong, Ron? Are you afraid of the dragon?" Fred squinted his eyes, hiding his true intentions while pretending to care about Ron's current state. He patted Ron's shoulder comfortingly, "Don't worry, the dragon is only for one year. It should be replaced by a different magical creature by the time you start school."
"I think it'll be spiders." George immediately added, "I saw them in the Forbidden Forest. Each one was as big as a gnome. Maybe that's what Hagrid is preparing for the Sorting Ceremony."
"No!"
Ron was completely distraught. His eyes widened in terror. He instinctively dropped his cutlery and ran screaming back to The Burrow.
It was clear that Ron was scared. He didn't even notice how wickedly the twins were laughing as he ran away.
But the twins didn't get off completely scot-free.
"George, why were you in the Forbidden Forest?"
Mrs. Weasley keenly picked up on the key point. She looked at the twins with a serious face, "I don't remember Hogwarts allowing first years in the Forbidden Forest."
"Mom, I can explain..."
Fred and George wanted to run, but being only in their second year, they were no match for Mrs. Weasley. They were quickly caught.
Then came the familiar sight of motherly love and filial piety.
Although this scene had played out countless times in the past eleven years, Kyle still found it amusing. It even improved his appetite.
That the twins had been to the Forbidden Forest, Kyle didn't doubt. But the spider thing was probably made up to scare Ron. It was just an unexpected coincidence that they were right.
After all, the Acromantula in the Forbidden Forest weren't harmless little darlings. If they encountered them, they would probably be settling down in the Forbidden Forest by now.
Besides, Kyle remembered that the Acromantula's nest was deep in the Forbidden Forest. Fred and George couldn't have gone that far.
The twins weren't Harry Potter. They only liked pranks, not death.
After about twenty minutes, dinner was almost over. Although there were some hiccups along the way, it was considered a pleasant experience for both host and guests.
At least, Kyle was happy.
After cleaning up the table, Percy went upstairs to study.
Ron, carrying a small bundle, was caught trying to run away from home. Now, he was in the twins' place, being chased around the yard by Mrs. Weasley.
Mr. Weasley and Chris, on the other hand, had found a new place to continue chatting.
"Chris, you were overdoing it."
In The Burrow, Mr. Weasley says regretfully, "It's just Sorting. How could there be a dragon? Kyle is so smart, he must know we're lying to him."
"No, Arthur, you're wrong. This plan was doomed to fail from the beginning."
Chris shook his head, looking a little helpless, "Kyle has been spending at least two months a year with Mr. Scamander since he was three. Do you think he would be afraid of trolls and Hippogriffs?
Besides, Arthur, have you forgotten that Kyle is also a Chopper?"
"Uh..." Mr. Weasley was instantly stunned. He scratched his head awkwardly, "You mean he can talk to magical creatures, just like you?"
"Of course." Chris nodded, "So, he wouldn't be afraid of a Hippogriff. I'd say only a dragon could make him nervous."
Mr. Weasley looked at Chris and said enviously, "That's an amazing ability. If only I could talk to those Muggle objects."
"???"
Chris was speechless for a moment. He laughed dryly, "It's not as exaggerated as you think. This talent is only for magical creatures. Normal animals like rats, toads, and owls, don't work. You can only rely on experience to guess their meaning."
Chris's meaning was clear. Even if Mr. Weasley one day used some strange magic to change his surname to Chopper, he could only talk to things like Floo Powder or Golden Snitch.
