Training is over

An object shot out of the mansion, and right after, a thump went through the earth, while the house was obliterated, and everything crushed under a high pressure coming from every direction.

As the learning continued over the next few days, the students learned a lot more about many different aspects and skills of being an assassin. They began learning all the possibilities of magical surveillance and had to master the use of things like the 'Foe-Glass' and movable ears, which you could connect to your own. They practised an awful lot, to set up surveillance systems, and even devised more own strategies to prevent detection and surveillance, after learning how to do this on their own. With all of that as a basis, they learned to accomplish complex surveillance tasks, such as simulating a combination of infiltration, espionage, and assassination missions.

Afterwards, Professor Kageyama shifted towards even more advanced infiltration techniques, and focused on the 'delicate art', as he called it, of infiltrating into high-security locations, even more so than the previous ones. They also took a look at case studies of famous assassinations, infiltrations, and espionage, that Professor Kageyama had 'access' to, analysing the different strategies and tactics used to accomplish the missions. These analyses helped them think about their personal and own strategies, as well as their own kind of stealth and lethal techniques, they wanted to use later on. They also practised high-risk infiltration under extreme conditions, while putting focus on learning to adapt and overcome changing, unexpected, and formidable defences.

In terms of close-quarter combat, the students were furthermore introduced to advanced duelling techniques, specialized for assassins. They tested their reflexes and precision with high-intensity and high-difficulty combat drills while listening to long lectures on fusing combat and infiltration while emphasizing the seamless transition between these two. Those combined drills underlined the importance of adaptability, which in turn prepared them for situations, where they might need to fight their way out after a stealthy entry, and in a different way than their previous exercises. This included but was not limited to exfiltrating with a captured target or saving a captured ally, as well as transmitting information in a limited time frame and having to accomplish several difficult tasks one after another.

But they did not forgo learning more about silent killing techniques and disguises, and they became the main topics for several following lectures of their training. They learned the concept of absolute silence and precision in non-magical and magical assassination techniques suited for several targets and the advanced disguise and deception lessons focused on maintaining elaborate disguises during prolonged durations and deeper questioning. Meanwhile, practical sessions involved practising advanced glamours and illusions, where Sebastian managed to pull off his first well-done glamour, something that was normally only focused on in the fourth year if the students were interested at all. And even then, there was a special course on glamours and illusions instead of small lessons, which once again proved Sebastian's talent. It must not be forgotten that he was somewhat keeping up with 5th, 6th and 7th-year student in terms of different charms, skills and their difficulty. The G.W.I. was something completely different, but to learn skills that needed that much pre-knowledge and training was a huge deal!

Being at the same combat level was something different from extensive knowledge. Theoretically, a 6th year could barely be Rank IV, and still have 5x the knowledge and different skills when compared to a 2nd year. Now, Sebastian surely isn't on the same level in all those different categories, as them, but he is surely progressing immensely fast in the topics related to these lessons!

[A/N: I just had the urge to remind you that he is somewhat keeping up with 7th years, while being a 2nd year, without most of the normal basic knowledge they got in the last 3 years. Hope it doesn't bother you.]

Elemental combat once again offered another different dimension to their training, and they learned to combine elements in battle, not only casting them separately but mastering advanced elemental combat drills. Still, Sebastian wasn't a genius in transfiguration and therefore conjurations, but he somewhat managed. But he swore to himself to master all the skills in a separate week after this course, where he could not reach the same level as his peers, who already knew many variations or basics of the learned skill. This was after all an extra course for 5th and higher year students!

Techniques involving fire, ice, and other elements were integrated into their ever-growing combat repertoire, even helping their overall combat level rise, though most of the learned skills were made for hidden combat and not all-out duels.

A small counter-infiltration 'mastery' followed right after, where they delved into advanced detection techniques and complex counter-infiltration scenarios, making sure, that they could both infiltrate and defend against infiltration on an equal level. They even got an official permit for this topic, a course certified for a ministry Auror (not AUROR, as in the rank, but the actual job).

Their psychological training involved learning about deep psychological manipulation and gaslighting, where they had to explore complex fear-inducing scenarios on their own, to understand and exploit the mental state of their targets, and how to set the mental stage for a breakdown upon attack. The practical applications of these lessons were once again tested in the final field exercise, a long and complex mission that involved and required all the skills they had learned so far, which also marked the end of this course.

[A/N: Now some new spells for y'all.]

Throughout these three harsh weeks, they also learned a lot of new spells specifically created for assassins. For instance, one of the first was the spell that allowed the caster to blend into very dark shadows nearly completely, making them nearly invisible even without a Disillusionment Charm. Another spell, "Sanguis Frigus", used the basic principles of haematology to rapidly freeze the blood in a target's veins, leading to an almost instant and silent death. Unluckily, this only worked on unconscious wizards and muggles that didn't have specific protections. They also practised "Echo Nullus", a spell that killed all sounds within a specific radius, ensuring absolute silence during their operations, though they had to ensure not to create sounds above a certain limit, as this spell only worked for silent noises. Creating a spell for assassins had many limitations and therefore brought some disadvantages with it.

[A/N: Brb, I regret searching for trying to create a blood spell. I am German, how am I supposed to know 'haematology'.]

Additionally, on top of these spells, they mastered "Visus Nox", a spell that temporarily blinded an opponent by plunging their vision into complete darkness, confusing their eyes. As it did not completely disable the eyes, the spell was far less magic-intensive and did not leave a large signature. To that came, that the low power level and not actual threat made it possible for the spell to slip through some shields, wards and enchantments. "Tempus Fugit", a time-dilation spell, allowed them to move at seemingly impossible speeds for brief periods, giving them a critical edge in both combat and escape, although it had the disadvantage of giving them a large headache after each use while making their feet unmovable. Therefore, the spell was mostly useful to think or cast a single spell at overkill speed, which however only influenced the casting, and not the speed of the actual spells they cast. It was an awfully hard charm to learn for Sebastian and he didn't think that he could do it chantlessly, if not even the Professor could do the spell wandless. Another spell, "Vaporis Obscuro", created a dense, obscuring mist that hindered visibility and provided cover during evasions or surprise attacks. The problem, only the caster could see through.

Furthermore, the concept of modern technology was subtly integrated into their magic, as many more missions did currently involve muggles. Spells like "Machina Specto", which allowed the caster to tap into and manipulate electronic surveillance systems, where they could free the current output, and "Electrica Interruptus", which created localized electromagnetic-magical pulses to disable electronic devices, a bit like the prolonged use of magic near technology.

At the very end of their training, the students had transformed into skilled assassins, without real-life experience, mostly proficient in both ancient magical arts of Japanese assassins, and also modern techniques.

One last time, the students gathered in the classroom, respectfully facing a grim Professor Kageyama. On one hand, the air was tense and somewhat imbued with sadness, as their time together would not be over. On the other hand, the obvious grin on the students' faces uplifted the overall mood. They would be trained assassins and had accomplished their goal of expanding their possibilities of active attack, defence, and another possibility for a future profession. Additionally, the cruel practical exercises were finally over, and they could go back to their normal physical training regime, although every single one of them now had in mind, that they were too easy on themselves before and would raise the difficulty of their training by a few notches.

"Now, we aren't here to smile, stand around or contemplate.", Professor Kageyama interrupted their thoughts, "I am certain that every single one of you can be an accomplished assassin in the future. But even if you do not take up the heavy mantle of an assassin, the learned skills are going to accompany you at every step of your life and certainly save it on more than one occasion. As a parting gift, I am going to give you all the chance to accompany you on your very first mission, be it now or in a few years. That I swear. And if you ever need someone to talk about your experiences or need further guidance, please come to me and let me help you share your burden.", the professor finished, his facial expression now looking proud, but with a small underlying sadness caused by his own experiences.

"May you be silent and unseen.", Kageyama, now not their teacher but a companion on their path of life, said with certainty and pride, hitting himself on the chest.

"May you be silent and unseen.", the students replied in kind.

While Sebastian thought about the possibility of killing and taking up missions, three students, Aiden amongst them, walked up to their former professor and began talking about their wish to start registering with the ministry now.

Sebastian turned and walked away, still contemplating until he concluded. He wasn't ready yet, to go out and kill, assassinate. He would, but not now. The only thing that would be able to change his opinion soon, would be a drastic and impacting event, influencing his morals and emotions.

Hopefully, he hadn't just jinxed himself…
