Chapter 11: Chapter 11

A daredevil who is not on red, color him surprised. Though considering that he started his Spider-Man adventures in hoodies and goggles, he cannot judge.

So, without hesitation, he leaps off the building and swings towards the scene.

"Give me the quickest route to Hell's Kitchen, Edith."

Without giving a verbal response, he can see the map she's drawing for him. It doesn't take him to reach the place, but seven minutes can feel long when fighting and running on adrenaline only.

When he's near the warehouse where the fight is happening, he can already hear the clashing of bodies and the sharp clang of metal against metal. Peter maneuvers through the chaos, careful not to be seen, his keen eyes locking onto the lone figure in black who stands unwaveringly against a swarm of adversaries. Daredevil fights with grace and skill, almost mesmerizing, with his movements fluid and precise. However, he can see that despite putting up a valiant effort against the swarm of ninjas, even someone as skilled as Daredevil can't hold out forever against such overwhelming numbers.

Peter knows he needs to intervene. With a quick calculation, he shoots a web toward one of the ninjas, yanking him off balance and giving Daredevil an opening to land a powerful strike on another. The man doesn't seem surprised, as it doesn't stop his momentum. The ninjas prove to be formidable opponents, each strike precise and coordinated. But with Daredevil's agility and Peter's enhanced senses, they make a formidable team. They move in sync, anticipating each other's moves and providing support when needed.

Despite the chaos around them, when he's near the other masked vigilante, Daredevil spares him a glance before nodding in acknowledgment, the briefest of smiles tugging at his lips. Together, they fight back to back, a seamless coordination that doesn't look like their first time.

Eventually, the tide shifts in their favor after Peter joins the fray. As the last of the ninjas falls to the ground defeated, Daredevil turns to Peter, his expression unreadable behind the mask. "Hello," he says in a low voice, his tone tinged with gratitude. I appreciate the assist."

Peter grins, knowing that the expressive eyes on his mask and his tone will adequately reflect his emotions. "Anytime."

Daredevil gives him a nod and goes to pick one of the ninjas at seemingly random. He grabs him by the neck and punches him awake.

Peter cringes at the sight, as despite knowing sometimes one cannot be soft with the enemy, he still cannot help but want to help.

"Edith, did you call the police?" he mutters, seeing Daredevil whispering harshly. The other vigilante tilts his head to the right, though he doesn't know if it's because he received the answer he wanted or not.

"Yes, I did as soon as you arrived at the warehouse."

"Good," he says and stops talking, as that's when Daredevil lets go of the ninja.

When he turns to look at him, Peter almost yelps. However, luckily, he manages to remain still, and only his heartbeat betrays him. "So, uh, good work. I already called the police, and they will take these ninjas away in a moment."

Daredevil shakes his head. "They're dead."

"I didn't kill mine," Peter answers slowly, not knowing how to feel about what he's insinuating.

"Didn't mean that. They killed themselves."

"Oh." So HYDRA style, huh. "Why were they fighting you in the open, though? It doesn't seem very ninja-ish of them."

"None of your business, " he says, walking weirdly.

"He's got a bruised left leg and a gash on his stomach," Edith quickly explains.

Peter's eyes widen as he leaps to Daredevil's side. "Hey, don't put your weight on that leg. Let me help you."

"Thanks, but no thanks," he says as he jostles away from Peter's reach, hissing.

"Uh, how about no? I'm sorry, but you need help." They hear the sirens approaching. "And do you really want to be here when the police come? I don't think so."

Daredevil only hesitates a second longer before finally nodding.

"Perfect. Do you prefer to go on my back or a princess carry?"

"If you princess-carry me, there won't be only ninjas on the ground."

"Back it is." He nods as he moves before Daredevil, quickly showing him his back. There's no danger, after all. Even if he knows he can be a bit violent and has never learned his secret identity in other worlds, he knows Daredevil first holds justice in his heart.

When the man settles on his back after a second of hesitation, Peter can't help but blush a little. The man is built like a brick, after all. And he's really warm.

Shaking his head, Peter readies to jump; the police are a bit too close for comfort.

"I'll go to a roof nearby, and then we can give you some first aid, okay?"

"Whatever." His voice is like whiskey as he speaks next to his ear, making him think he's doing it intentionally, but no. Most likely not. After all, he's just Spider-Man and hasn't gained as much fame as in other universes for him to deserve flirting.

Peter jumps from the warehouse rooftop, feeling the weight of Daredevil on his back as he swings effortlessly through the city, the wind rushing past them. He lands on the building where he left his backpack and gently helps Daredevil down, careful not to exacerbate his injuries.

"Let's look at that leg and stomach," Peter says, crouching down to assess the wounds. They look painful but not life-threatening. "I have a first aid kit here."

Daredevil nods silently. The mask covers his upper face, hiding any expression, but he notes the lines of pain etched on Daredevil's grimace.

"Let me look at those injuries," Peter says, crouching beside him. He rummages through his kit, his hands moving with practiced ease as he cleans and bandages Daredevil's wounds.

As he works, Peter can't help but steal glances at the masked vigilante before him. Daredevil remains silent throughout the process, his jaw clenched in pain. Something is always intriguing about him, a sense of determination and darkness that sets him apart from other heroes Peter has encountered.

"There, all done," Peter says, packing the kit. He hasn't used some of the advanced technology he's got, but he's used some that can be passed as normal. "You should be good to go now."

Daredevil stands up slowly, testing his leg gingerly, his fingers caressing his side. "Thanks. I owe you one."

Peter waves it off. "There's no need for thanks; I'm just doing my friendly neighborhood duty as Spider-Man."

"Spiderman?"

"Yeah. It's not my name, obviously. Can you think of someone wanting to name their kid like that? No, it's a codename for when I act as a vigilante." Realizing he's been rambling for a long time, he stops. Coughing, he looks to the side as he asks, trying to sound calm. "Have you got one yourself?"

There is a hint of a smile on Daredevil's lips as he shakes his head. Peter is a bit disappointed, as he liked his codename, but he can't say it, can he? It would be weird if he announced his name like a king to his knight.

Yeah, no. It's better to wait for him to obtain it. After all, somehow, the codenames keep being the same even in different universes, so he's not worried about Daredevil getting a new name.

"Okay, so. I'll get going. Stuff to beat, people to do."

He stops, repeats what he just said in his mind, and blushes. He waves his hands. "Sorry! I meant stuff to do, people to beat."

Smooth, thy name is not Peter.

He covers his face in his hand as he groans, but that's when he hears it. A low throaty laugh coming from Daredevil.

He pouts, his heart beating like crazy. "Don't laugh at me."

When the man shakes his head one last time, he turns around and waves. "See you later, Spider-Man."

"Call me Spidey!" he calls out as he returns the wave with one of his own, even if the other man cannot see it.

"Really smooth, Peter," Edith adds her two cents, repeating the words he thought a while ago.

"Let's just call Thor so he can strike me with lighting."

"Not while I am here, you will not."

He huffs. "Yeah, yeah. Let me know the shortest route to New York. Let's do some patrol."
