Chapter 36: Chapter 36 – Ice?
The last slash that was send flying by the elven swordsman ended up cutting the top half deerwolf face clean off.
After losing 1/3 of its head, the deerwolf body collapsed on the on the ground lifeless.
The elf had won, but he was not in good shape at all.
Many of his ribs got broken by the deerwolf attack and their fragments ended up piercing the man lungs, making it for him hard to breath.
The man put both of his hands down on the ground and tried recover as much as possible.
However, while recovering a sound of the footsteps could be heard coming right in front of him.
"?!"
The man looked up in panic and saw the deerwolf right in front of him with part of its head still missing.
Before the man could swing his sword, deerwolf launched itself at the man and quickly bit into the man neck before ripping his throat out.
Blood began spilling at alarming rate from the man neck before then making the man fall on the ground as he blood continues to flow out of him.
While all of that was happening, deerwolf continues watching the man bleeding out until the man finally dies.

(Before I even realized that slash cut off part of my head completely!)
(This should have easily killed anything!)

(Still! Even if I don't need my head, I will still die if I suffer too much damage, I almost did died from damage I suffered while I was fighting that wolf while I was still a plant beast! And I literally though I would die just now!)
(If that attack was just a little bit lower, it would not have been my head only but my entire body would have been cut in half and that would have definitely killed me!)
(But still, fuck me! I didn't even know that I can survive with part of my head missing!)
(Still! What the fuck was that?! None of his attacks were like that! Before I could even react, the wind blade was already Infront of my face and before I realized it had already cut me!)
(I though he was already good as dead, but I was not expecting him to pull out some protagonist bullshit level attack!)

After killing the elven magic swordman, I finished off the elven swordman that was bleeding from his wounds, the one who lost consciousness from getting too hard in the stomach, the one who had my horn stack in him.
And the guy I blinded at the start. I almost forgotten about him and he was crawling away. I almost fucked up and let him escape.
Well, he would probably died either way, since he was blinded and he would definitely encounter monsters as he would venture further into the forest.
I did it… I killed everyone and did not let any of them escape!

Well.... Those giant elks that were used to drag the caravans broke free and run off when I approached them.
Honestly, I don't have any means of chasing them. My mana and stamina hit rock bottom already and I was barely moving. So, I just gave up on them.
Still, they were not my aim.
My aim were these guys! Elves! A humanoid beings like humans!
I dragged the elven corpse around and gathered them in one spot.
I then planted my roots into the ground and began eating the elven corpse in order to recover and maybe unlock a new evolution paths.
Honestly, considering the current situation right now I need to focus on recovering than worrying about unlocking new path, since my current body is a complete mess. Even eating right now for me is bit annoying, since the half of my upper jaw was cut off.
I mean, I'm literally missing part of my head! Even an orc or a young newbie adventurer human can easily kill me!
Well, this area doesn't have any monsters around and I don't think I will see any elves for some time.
Reason?
I took a peek at those caravans that those elves brough with them.
Weapons and supplies.
These must have been spare weapons, so that means that these elves were getting to fight something in that cave. It maybe a real dungeon like I suspected.
Not only that, but the caravan was filled to the brim with the food.
It was like what? It would last for maybe 4-5 days for all of them?
Still, the food is now mine and I will use it for my recovering.
By the way, if you are wondering there was meat, so elves in this world are not vegetarians.
Anyway, for the rest of the day I had no choice but eat and focus on my recovery.
The next day came I was still covered in injuries.
My healing skills are still not good even after leveling up and evolving, but the main problem was with my body being bigger than before.
The current level of healing is not enough for me right now.
Still, no elves came.
I think my theory was correct.
But I cannot be too sure yet. There is a good chance that elves may still appear.
However, the next day, something happened. Something that completely catched me off guard.

(Wait. Why did it suddenly got colder?)

(And its coming from the cave?!)
(Shit! I still haven't fully recovered yet!)
(This place was really a dungeon filled with monsters?! But there was no reactions whatsoever in the past few days! Why I can sense mana now?!)

Deerwolf quickly got away from the cave and watched as a strange snowflake creature walked out of the cave.

(Em… The fuck is this?)
(A giant snowflake with a glowing orb?)
(I mean… It's definitely monster… But why does it look like a freaking… I don't know… A freaking plushy?)
Suddenly, a bunch of snow gathered around before solidifying and creating a thorn made out of ice.

Deerwolf quickly dodged to the side, avoiding the icy projectile.
(Magic?! No! It was a skill!)
Deerwolf ran straight at unknown monster and slashed the monster with its claws.

(Eh?)
The snowflake monster fall on the ground, before then crumbling apart.
(???)
(It died?! Just like that?!)
(Wow… It was…that weak?! Even a young newbie adventurer could easily one shot kill it with just a simple dagger slash!)
(Still, I was expecting something stronger to pop up or something!)

(A small pebble?)

(But… Why did that thing had a gem inside it?)

(Is this one of those magic stones or magic gems?)
(You know, the stuff that sometimes fantasy novels adds to the monsters' bodies? A something like a gem that can be used as something like electricity substitute or for creating items?)
(But… I never encounter anything with anything like mana stone things yet?)
(I did killed slime, but its gem thing was half organic and half gem looking thing.)
(This and that thing are definitely two different things.)

Deerwolf put the unknown gem into its mouth before munching it down and swallowing it.

(I felt it! It was mana! And… It was cold? That is…. New?)

(I didn't get anything from just eating this thing.)
(Still, this thing is definitely not normal.)

3 more of the snowflake monsters had left the dungeon and alongside them a floating monster resembling a skull made out of the ice that was missing a lower jaw.
(Why are the monster leaving this place now?)
(Does some time need to pass for the monsters to leave the dungeon? Or perhaps the monsters are getting born inside the dungeon and the overflow is forced to leave the dungeon?)

Suddenly, the ice skull monster created a magic above its head, instantly putting the deerwolf on high alert.
(?!)
Ice skull monster fired multiple ice thorns at the deerwolf, forcing it to quickly dodge to the side.
After dodging the attack, the deerwolf quickly ran at the skull monster and slashed it.
The slash didn't destroyed the skull, but when deerwolf fallowed up with the smack attack, the skull monster surprisingly ended up dying quiet easily.
After dealing with the ice skull, the deerwolf quickly attacked the snowflake monsters before they could fire any attacks.

(This skull seem to be strong against slashing attacks, but it instantly died when I smacked it?)
(Not only that, it was definitely stronger than those snowflakes. It could use magic and fire more projectiles.)
(And there is another thing.)
(There is more of those weird small pebbles gems.)

(Still nothing even after eating all of them?)
(Well, they were weak monsters and all, I doubt even getting hit by those attacks would do any proper damage to me.)
(Still, this maybe the thing I was looking for.)
(Those weird monsters, they are special monsters I was looking for!)
(They don't resemble spirits that were accompanying that girl…. Maybe they are like elementals?)
(Those monsters made out of the element like fire, water, wind or earth that are very often appearing in fantasies and games.)
(These things are made out of ice and snow, so I guess they are ice elementals?)
(That spirit did said that eating things may influence my evolution and I did discovered it myself.)
(But… Does it including a different things? Like those weird gems and other stuff?)
(Well, it may or may not. I still have to risk it in order to maybe get a new evolution path.)
(Not only that, but I don't I can stay here for much longer.)
(Elves will definitely make their move soon, since a lot of time passed after these guys died.)
(I may not have fully recovered yet and I'm still missing my eye as well as both of my horns did not regrow yet, but I need to risk it.)
(Well, I did managed to reach level 100 and eat all of the elves that ended up me getting some new paths.)
(So if the situation turns to dire, I'm evolving early than I expected.)
(But, if possible, I want to avoid it at all cost. If this place is really special, then I may unlock a second evolution path that I may need! This worth all the risk!)
