VALENCIA'S POV

"Miss Valencia, please stay back," Maverick said without looking up from his sheets, and I gulped, my gaze meeting Aiden, who stopped with me.

"Okay," I said, a bit hesitant.

"Do you want me to stay?" Aiden whispered in my ears.

I licked my bottom lip, unsure how to answer that question as I was sure with the distance between Maverick and us, he was able to hear our conversation just fine, and if he felt offended, he might not take out his irritation in the University but he can always find me back at my place.

Yes. He knew about my new place because of the collaboration needed between the council and the Dark Callisto pack for the upcoming ball.

"No. I will be fine," I said to him dejectedly even when I wanted him to stay.
