Chapter 100: Chapter 100 - Meeting Koneko
On the next day, as much as Kuroka wants to continue cuddling and fawning upon the two tragic girls, Jack and Alice, she learns their story from Ray. It took him some effort to dissuade Kuroka against trying to take revenge especially for Alice.
Anyway, today Kuroka woke him up early and prepared before they went into the town and settled at a cafe with an outdoor garden table.
Before they even arrived, they both can already see the figure of a white haired girl not in her usual Kuoh Academy uniform, but a casual one. She already arrived in advance and ordered herself a drink.
Koneko was looking restless, looking around once in a few moments, looking for the familiar figure of her elder sister which she immediately found when Kuroka walked towards the cafe.
"Kuroka Nee-san? Where is the mate you choose?" Koneko asked, loud enough for Kuroka to hear but quiet enough none of the people nearby could hear.
"Where? He is here next to me." Kuroka gestured at Ray who is following her with a slow yet steady pace before he jumps up to the table to make himself visible.
"Meow!" Ray meowed like a normal cat to purposely mess around with Koneko to see her reaction.
She definitely didn't disappoint. Koneko looked at Ray with a look that quickly morphed into confusion before looking back at Kuroka who facepalmed, because she forgot to warn Ray not to attempt his antic on Koneko because she wants her younger sister to have a good impression on Ray.
"Nee-san… did yo—"
"As if I would!" She quickly denied with her face filled with embarrassment before catching Ray by his neck and hissed at him. "I swear if you don't stop giving Koneko a weird thought about me, I won't do THAT for you again. Ever." She threatened him.
"Wait! Babe, no! I was just joking. It was a joke. Ha… haha…" Ray quickly jumps on her and beg for forgiveness, creating a comical scene while Koneko watches their antics curiously.
"Change into your human form. The normal one without your Charm bullshit." She demanded before she sat down in front of Koneko while Ray climbed up to the adjacent seat before transforming into a form that mirrors Kuroka, the first human he used.
Koneko looks confused because Ray looks exactly what she would expect if Kuroka suddenly turns into a male.
"Alright." Kuroka claps her hands a little excitedly. "I introduced you, your brother-in-law, Ray."
"Hello." Ray waved at Koneko but after that he fell back into silence.
Meanwhile Koneko has a look of shock adorned on her face. Ray, a very familiar name that she heard only a few times and she felt something is a miss. Like she should feel afraid but she couldn't place a finger on why she should be afraid. That's until she recalls from the recent sleepover, the name Asia used to address the Unknown God.
Initially, Koneko thought her sister simply found a Nekomata or Nekoshou and fell in love. After all, Kuroka did give her a vague description of her mate. But never in a trillion years would she think Kuroka bagged the Unknown God instead.
Koneko literally looked jaw slacked at Ray and then Kuroka which pretty much conveyed her emotion across.
"Nee-san!"
"Shh… It's fine, Koneko. I know what he did in the past is hard to forgive." Kuroka went and hugged Koneko to reassure her. "But from today onwards, you don't need to fear him anymore because if he dares to do anything to you, I will make sure he regrets it very dearly." Kuroka whispers to Koneko while Ray looks at Kuroka with a raised eyebrow but lifts his hand up in defeat when Kuroka glared at him.
Well, he did promise Kuroka to cooperate and be a good brother-in-law to Koneko. So, he let Kuroka have her win.
"So, are we good now?" Ray asked while the two sisters were still hugging each other.
Ray talks to the waiter and orders breakfast for him and Kuroka. The waiter simply ignores the presence of Kuroka and Koneko right now because he made them invisible.
After the waiter left, Kuroka finally returned to her seat next to him and began talking to Koneko. Mostly talking about how she met Ray and also revealing to Koneko she is an aunt to technically nine adorable girls but officially only seven because while Sirin acknowledged Bella as her sister, Ray doesn't accept her as his daughter yet. The same as Dark Sakura. Kuroka didn't share his sentiment though.
Koneko's reaction to this was a bewildered look but also happy that Kuroka seems happy with Ray. Although, she still hadn't fully trusted the Unknown God that once harmed her Peerage King and her precious comrades.
Koneko made it very obvious too, telling Ray that she hasn't forgiven him yet. To which, Ray replied, "Well, I do not need your forgiveness if I truly wanted it. However, on account that you are Kuroka's younger sister, I will follow her will." Ray answered without his gentle and nice guy tone. His words are a warning that although he would adhere to Kuroka's wish, there is a limit to it. After all, this isn't the first time he modified Koneko's mind and it wouldn't be the last either.
Seeing the fear stricken face of Koneko, Kuroka gave Ray a light jab to his side. Telling him to stop trying to intimidate Koneko.
He agreed easily enough and stopped pouring out his hostility. At the same time, the waiter arrived with a tray carrying their order. It was a western style breakfast. Ray gets a few pancakes and black coffee while Kuroka gets a French toast drizzled with syrup and crispy bacon strips with tea.
"So, after this. Are you free or do you have things to do?" Kuroka asked while chewing on the piece of crisps bacon that is slightly covered in sweet maple syrup.
"No. Not really, when I asked Buchou for a day off. She said I can have the whole day for myself. Why?"
"Hmn… the whole day. Then you have enough time to meet your nieces." Kuroka decides before she swallows the chewed bacon and turns to Ray who is silently watching and eating his meal. "After breakfast, let's bring her along to meet the girls. I am eager to introduce them to Koneko!" She said, brimming with excitement.
Ray had no reason to object and agreed to Kuroka's request. They left after finishing their meal in a gusto as Koneko was eager to meet her niece even if she didn't show it on her face.
