Chapter 96 - Tanya’s Desertion
Tanya Von Degurechaff, a former Japanese and currently an Imperial citizen and a military Major.
Since her return from the previous Chat Group mission, her personal strength had increased leaps and bounds. No longer does she need to rely on the accursed tool that slowly corrodes her mind. It's already enough that she now sees herself as Tanya more than her previous Japanese self.
But after she completed the Chat Group mission, she immediately spent the two lottery tickets and got a weapon that she didn't care for and a voucher worth ten thousand Point.
Why is she more hyped for the points? Well, that is because she could buy herself a bunch of Top Grade Magic Circuit so she can cast spells without the need of a Computation Jewel.
With that, Tanya becomes an even greater Mage than she realized. Magic Circuits are basically a far more superior and natural form of Computation Jewel that isn't encumbered by limitations of technology and other flaws, making her nearly invincible in battle.
The Magic Circuit isn't all that she got. Tanya also has skills back from Elder Tale and constantly buys skills from System Shop to improve herself. With those,Bshe accidentally got promoted to the rank of Major with half the time she did in the anime because she is doing too good.
At first she was ecstatic and eagerly climbing up the ladder of leadership until she realized something terrible. Because she is too good, her superior never intended to promote her higher than Major because they wanted to keep her a field officer as their ace against their enemy.
Tanya's dream of being promoted to the rear and away from the battlefield was shattered because she was doing so well in her job that she was showered with medals and awards, literally.
Because of that, she made the decision. Tanya wanted to escape from this world.

Tanya: Admin
Ray: Yeah? Wassup?
Tanya: I had decided to escape from my world. Do you have a suggestion?
Ray: I had one. This world should suit your requirements. Although they have gods here. But rest assured. All gods here are bound by rules and harmless. Most of them are…
Ray: Do you want to proceed?
Tanya: Are you sure those gods are harmless?
Ray: Yes
Ray: I already removed the biggest trouble maker.
Ray: The rest are a nuisance at best.
Tanya: Do it then.
Ray: 👌
Ray: I'll deduct the World Transfer Ticket cost from your balance.

A few moments after she chatted with Ray. Tanya vanished from her barracks and reappeared inside a dimly lit, moss covered cave like. She was in her Imperial Officer uniform and carrying her rifle and sidearm with two magazines for both guns.
Immediately Tanya went into combat ready mode when she started hearing noise from the distance but the poor lighting from the glowing moss is inadequate to offer proper vision beyond 10 meters.
Tanya cursed that she didn't have her standard Flight Mage equipment or else she will have a flashlight or an oil lamp at least.
Regardless, she aims her rifle towards the direction where the sound was coming from and it's from the hallway ahead. The hallway was short and curved. When she turns to the direction of the other hallway, it's also short and curved to another direction. It's almost like an urban infantry warfare situation where she has to clear through one corner after another.
But soon, she found the source of the sound.
"Hyah!"
"Hah!"
Tanya heard the sound of battle along with feminine grunts that sounded like a child, oddly enough. She approached the group silently because she still can't make up their faces to recognise any of them. So, she continues to sneak closer with her rifle aimed ahead. But then, she suddenly finds herself nearly killed by a Subspace Lance which stopped by the skin of her teeth before it pierced her head.
"Oh, it's Tanya." Sirin recognised Tanya and apologized before inviting her over.
Tanya sighed and relieved that she was still alive after that and looked around to find Sakura, Ray in his cat form hugged by Sakura and three more girls she did not recognize.
"Sir Admin." Tanya instinctively salutes to Ray because she used it back in Elder Tale, acting as his spy in Maihama.
"At ease, Tanya." Ray waved his paw before asking Sakura to place him down, which she did but after taking one last hug.
"Well, I sent you the important information you need to know about this world and also you are going to be part of my Familia so you can enter the dungeon."
Tanya nods and checks the private chat to see the document. She opens it and quickly scans through it and learns all the basic rules and common sense of the Danmachi world. Not a complete guide. But it contains most of the important ones so she will not look like a bumpkin or outsider.
After Tanya read through everything, she first looked at Ray in disbelief before she asked.
"So, are you telling me the gods are living amongst humans on the surface but their power is sealed which makes them only as strong as a human?"
"Yes. Although, just because their power is sealed doesn't mean they are harmless or unable to use their Arcanum. The gods and goddesses still possess their natural ability and knowledge even with their weakened divine power." Sirin answered in Ray's stead while he nodded, confirming Sirin's words.
"I see. And the reason they coexist with humans is because they see us as a source of entertainment?" Tanya frowned and demanded an explanation because that sounded just like Being X for her.
"Well. Myself aside, those gods and goddesses offer human blessings of Falna that give you power, stronger body and longer lifespan in exchange that they view your adventures in the dungeon as entertainment. It wasn't malicious at all and the benefits outweigh the disadvantages." Ray shrugs and Tanya changes her mind once she hears about Falna.
"So, I will be joining your Familia?"
"It's up to you. You can join the others if you are interested. While the blessings from each gods are the same, the advantages they offer are different like Loki that offers the best in terms of dungeon diving, Hephaestus offers blacksmithing knowledge or access to equipment, there are also other productions type familia. It's up to you."
Tanya looks around at the girls while making her decision. While as Ray said, there are other Familia specialized in different fields, Ray offers total privacy because she trusts him more than those other gods. Then there's also the factor of familiar members like Sirin and Sakura. But most importantly, Ray offered her total freedom to her action because from her experience working with him previously, he didn't really care or bother what she did as long as the objectives were completed.
"I will join yours." Tanya decided after giving it a thorough consideration.
"Alright, then." Ray nods before creating a mattress on the ground and asks Tanya to reveal her back for him to inscribe his Falna.
Tanya was a little hesitant but then remembered that a soldier shouldn't be bother about shame before she take off her coat and shirt and then lay down on the mattress.
"It might sting a little and feel uncomfortable. Just bear with it for a moment." Ray said before he bit his paw and dropped a droplet of his inky black blood that fell on her back that created a ripple before those blood arranged themselves into the image of his Falna rune.
The process was done in less than a few seconds before he repeated the process but on Jack and Alice or Nursery Rhyme.
"Well, now all of you are part of the Familia. Sirin is the captain and Sakura is the vice-captain of the Familia. The three of you can ask her if there's any questions." Ray yawned before jumping into Sakura's arms and falling asleep instantly.
Sirin decided it's better to bring the three to Adventurer Guild and get them registered first before anything else. So, they are returning to the surface.
