Chapter 97 Deceiving a friend to send his mother off

Once Thalia Queen Consort had left, Arthas furrowed his brow and said, "I was just stung by the holy light. I discovered a demon lurking within Aunt Thalia. It seems to be feeding off her spirit, and if left unchecked, not only will Aunt Thalia be drained to death, but once the demon breaks free, it will undoubtedly cause great harm. The most terrifying aspect of demons is their ability to influence the mind. While physical damage can be healed, mental corruption is much harder to cure."

"What! Are you serious?" Varian was taken aback, yet not without a hint of doubt.

"Aunt's health has been deteriorating, hasn't it?" Arthas began to manipulate, seeking Varian's approval. Conventional methods won't work unconventional measures are necessary.

"Do you know why orcs invaded our world?"

"Why?" Varian had always puzzled over why orcs attacked. "Wasn't it because of Medivh guiding them here?"

"That's just one reason; Medivh was controlled by demons. After interrogating orc prisoners, I learned something significant. Their homeland was tainted by demons, turning it into a desolate, lifeless wasteland. They couldn't survive there, hence their invasion of our realm." Arthas paused, allowing his words to sink in before continuing, "This doesn't absolve their crimes their sins can only be cleansed through death."

"What does this have to do with demons?" Varian was perplexed, viewing orcs in a negative light.

His country lay in ruins, his father slain by orcs, his people turned into refugees.

All due to orcs, all orc-inflicted he loathed orcs.

"As I mentioned, demons are predominantly malevolent. They invaded our world millennia ago, only to fail. The result was the Maelstrom in the Endless Sea, their creation.

Orcs are just their second tool of invasion their vanguard is already here, lurking. Allowing them to remain hidden would be a disaster for us all. Imagine if a demon replaced Aunt Thalia, commanding you. Would you obey? If ordered to sever ties with the Alliance, to attack humans, dwarves, and gnomes, would you comply?"

"Pure invasion isn't the real threat. It's their use of deception to sow discord among human nations, causing internal strife and depleting our strength to resist their legions. That's the true danger." Arthas's expression turned grave, radiating holy light.

Holy light isn't inherently just or reasonable it's merely a tool, a power. Light often seems more trustworthy than darkness.

Varian pondered deeply he wasn't naive and sensed profound secrets beneath the surface.

"How can we save my mother then?"

"I will use holy light to treat her. This holy light can only suppress the demon, inducing a dormant state to prevent harm to Aunt. To resolve this, we must consult with ancient races. My plan is for Aunt Thalia to stay in Lordaeron temporarily for treatment. I have a dragon envoy by my side; by aiding the dragons, we can find a way to vanquish the demon without harming Aunt. I need your consent; after all, Aunt is your mother."

Arthas revealed his plan, showcasing his power. With a dragon envoy at his side, he exuded a certain glory.

To most humans, dragons were formidable beings. Collaborating with them demonstrated strength.

After a brief hesitation, Varian nodded, "Very well, I entrust my mother to you."

"You're welcome. I act not for you but for the Alliance. The reconstruction of the Kingdom of Stormwind will undoubtedly be difficult, and removing one obstacle will ease your path."

Arthas smiled the task was actually quite simple and not challenging.

All this was built upon the rewards he received from risking his life, adorned with numerous accolades, making persuasion effortless.

After a while of conversation, Arthas took his leave.

He needed to prepare and depart to address the Naga issue.

Initially, the Red Dragon posed a significant problem, but Arthas emerged to resolve it.

Now, the emergence of the deep-sea Naga posed a new nuisance.

Danger accompanied opportunity, and Arthas didn't view this as a bad thing.

It was better to gain more experience now than to be caught off guard by future troubles.

Rubbing his chin, should he start exploiting the nobles?

It's clearly impossible to expect them to pay and work for him to cross the sea.

Even with the lure of extending life, when they calm down, only a few will have the vision to invest in themselves.

Most conservative nobles will tightly hold onto their wealth, so he must find a way.

"Oh? Exploit the nobles by collaborating with the Naga?"

Arthas's eyes lit up. Is it unfair to frame them?

Not unfair!

At least some Lords still retain a taste for evil, like the right of the first night!

Every commoner who gets married, the new bride has to spend a night with the Lords, this is the right of the first night.

It sounds disgusting, even Arthas finds it repulsive.

Either don't play, or once you have played, you won't let others play.

If one lacks power, then forget it. If one has power and willingly lets others cuckold themselves, it's just a bit of a fetish.

To put it nicely, messing with other men's wives, from another perspective, isn't it being cuckolded oneself?

Baron Labor from Solorian Farm is one such repulsive person. Taking him down would be considered doing justice!

It must be said, Arthas is becoming more despicable. He doesn't resemble a Paladin who believes in the holy light at all, he's practically a black sheep among Paladins, well, a principled black sheep!

Enslaving the holy light can also become a Paladin, just like the Blood Elves, but this can cause some damage and burden to the body from the holy light, making it unable to be used for healing.

This loses the advantage of Paladins being able to fight and withstand. Paladins are pretty good except for their lack of mobility.

Justice? Arthas never believed in justice. Might makes right, others' wives are right, others' daughters are also right!
