Chapter 8: Aftermath

Watching down at her cocky smile, Alec grunted; a disgusted expression creeping into his face.

"What a delight having you around." Deacon murmured playfully, trying to slide his arm on her shoulders.

With a swift move, she dodged him, sending him straight to the floor when he lost he footing. Her eyes landed on the man face to the floor and her smile grew wider.

"Likewise." Crossing her arms over her chest she turned her attention to Alec. "You definitely don't have any worries in your life, do you?"

He rolled his gray eyes. "You think you know me?"

"Someone as simple as you is painfully easy to read."

"Really..." Alec whispered, lowering his gaze as he took one step towards her. "Then you must know I find you unbearable."

Bianca chuckled. "Yeah, it's mutual, by the way."

"And incredibly self-centered and dull." He continued, taking two steps closer.

This time, she pursed her lips. His words, even though they were meaningless to her, started to sting. No one likes to be told they are dull. She remained in place until the smell of booze hit her.

She stepped back.

"Not to mention rude, cruel, cold-hearted... and so not feminine. Not my type at all" Alec pushed forward, leading her unconsciously towards a wall.

That was the last drop of patience she had, leaving her body the moment he finished the sentence. She inflated her chest, charging the fit she was about the deliver.

"That's enough—" She started, only to cut the words the moment his hand grabbed her chin.

His warm, big hand.

He leaned forward to detail her expression. Bianca looked at him, her green eyes now wide in surprise; her eyebrows knotted in confusion. That was the first time they had been in such a close and intimate encounter.

Combat practice and survival trial don't count.

"And still," he continued, "I find you incredibly lonely... And unbelievably beautiful."

Her mouth dropped, dumbfound. She blinked a couple of times, thinking it might clear her head enough to answer him back or, at least, get him away from her, but things happened too fast.

Alec, with a blurry vision, felt lost looking at her gorgeous face.

He felt his body grow numb by the second, not being able to control it no longer. Trying to stay in his feet, he put his free hand in the wall behind her.

It was no use, though.

He dropped his eyes a little lower as the little sober part of his brain was still trying to work. His vision turned black for a couple of seconds, the feeling of disconnection leaving a weird tingling sensation in his lips.

He wanted to finish what he wanted to say, but soon enough, darkness engulfed him.

His senses shutting down completely.

Alec's POV

As I regained consciousness, a throbbing pain drilled my skull; blundering my brains in the process. I hissed as I incorporated myself. The lights were too bright to open my eyes, so I had to keep them closed.

I felt a door opening, followed by quick stepps and some rustling nearby.

"Who's this?" My words came out soar, dry; making realize I was parched.

"The maid, sir. I brought you some soup and drinks from master Bianca."

Master Bianca?

I opened my eyes, not caring for the sting of pain in my head, to see exactly where I was. To my surprise, it was nowhere I have been before.

Beautifully decorated, old-style wooden furniture adorned the place along with a lot of ACTUAL, living plants. This place screamed luxury, as everything made of actual wood costed a fortune.

My eyes landed on the young woman standing in front of me as she left a trail of what I supposed was the food she told me about. Her short, black, curly locks bounced as she straightened her back, smiling at me.

I noticed the excitement in her dark eyes, and her hands nervously wrapping around the other; obviously wanting to tell me something.

"Y—You're the new Tsys 09 pilot." She said, half asking, half sure.

I half smiled, nodding a little as I stood from the bed.

"Yeah." I pointed at the humming food with a movement of my head. "Thanks. Can you tell me where Bianca is?"

"Downstairs in the kitchen, having breakfast with your friend."

Deacon? Why the hell is he here? No, what the hell am I doing here? Why I'm the only one eating somewhere else?

"I don't wanna bother you, but can you bring this downstairs? I'd like to join them."

"O—Of course." She rushed to grab the trail, surprising me she didn't spill everything on it because of how fast she reacted.

I followed her outside the room and through the long hall. The dark green carpet under my feet kept giving me the old vibes, and made me wonder if Bianca's parents were that conservative of the old world.

We walked down the stairs, turning left and walking into a spacious room. There, in a big wooden table in the middle of the room, Bianca and Deacon were already digging into their food.

They weren't talking, then tension so obvious you'd thought they were sworn enemies.

I cleared my throat.

"Thanks for inviting me for breakfast." I sat down next to Deacon, who was looking at me with a wicked smile. "What? Hit your head yesterday too hard?"

"You're asking ME that?" He mumbled between bites of food.

"Can't you shut up even while eating?" Bianca asked throwing Deacon a killer glare.

I thought he would drop it there, but his cocky smile gave me the chills. He never took Bianca's mean words seriously, he's a joker and someone that never takes things too personally.

"No, actually." He looked straight at her face, having a blast of the moment. "I didn't know you were the shy type either, so I guess we gotta get used to each other, right sil?"

Bianca pursed her lips, obviously mad. She's one to not be bothered so easily. Sil? What the hell's going on?

"Don't... call me that." She hissed, the fork in her hand trembling a little.

"Something I'm missing out here?" I asked, dragging both their stared at me.

They cocked an eyebrow almost at the same time, their lost expression letting me know there was, indeed, something going on that I didn't know.

Then, Deacon's mocking smile stretched his lips.

"Are you playing dumb now? After being a total charmer last night..." He shrugged, shacking his head.

Charmer? Last night?

Then flashed of what happened started flooding my mind. My eyes sought for Bianca's, but to my surprise, she averted her gaze away. She was… embarrassed?

What?

What the hell... did I do?
