Chapter 34: Heavy Exposition

As the title suggest it's a bit exposition heavy, but kinda necessary for the plot. Also I'm kinda sorry for the late chapter. But I just have been busy with college. I've had like Exams, after exams this whole week. So sorry about that. Enjoy the chapter.

Stories are never easy, which is why it's important to do good job. But where would you even start to tell it if it's so big? The couple was seen seating at a table in a restaurant. Tommy was going over the menu carefully deciding what he was going to order on the other hand Bonnie felt frustrated and annoyed by it as the waiter had been standing there for some time now.

"I'll do the cream spinach risotto and some garlic bread and the Merlot would do for today." Tommy smiled as he put the menu down and the waiter turned to Bonnie and she just look deadpan into Tom's eyes and said, "Water."

The smile on Tommy's face faded, the waiter awkwardly nodded and quietly walked away, Tommy looked at Bonnie and said, "You sure? I'm paying for it?"

"Yeah." Bonnie nodded and smilede sarcastically as Tommy sighed and looked at her and she asked, "You were going to tell me something?"

Tom snapped his fingers as he remembered, "Yes, ah… but what do you like… want to know? Help me get going, you know?"

She looked at him and said, "From the beginning?"

Tommy nodded as he looked at her for a while before saying, "Should we wait for the food?" She threw a nasty glare at him and he sighed, "Alright, from the beginning then."

Lost in his own chain of thought a sense of ease and dread washed over Tom as he remembered his old life. From whence he came.

"I don't really know when I was born or where really, but I do know is for as long as I can remember Mystic falls has been my home. My life has been shaped in this town, I have learned, lived and died here. And it's the one place where I didn't want to return to.

My life was better than most people in this town, one of the son's of the richest man, even though I was a bastard but still. When I was young I didn't really understood why the things were the way they were. I used to ask myself why Giuseppe never loved me?"

Bonnie raised her eyebrows and I said, "My Dad."

The waiter came with the food and then the wine "Anyway as big a piece of shit my dad was, I never really had anything to complain about, I had clothes on my back, roof over my head and food in my belly. So life went on as it did. But the good times never last really… everything changed when my mom died."

Bonnie looked at him and tried to reach out to hold his hand but hesitated and put them under, Tom sighed a low chuckle as he picked up the glass of wine and drank a little to soothe his throat, "She was a great woman, really… she raised me along with her children, never really held what I was against me… but I knew she never really loved me. She couldn't, her death should have brought us closer but it just broke us."

"Giuseppe became even more cold and distant, Stefan who once full of life became dull, Damon became rebellious and well I was kinda left alone… After mom's death, all of us grew up quick… and life went on."

Tom looked at Bonnie, "As, dull as it may sound, I do miss it, quite fondly. If I'm being honest, but my dull life was coming to an end." Tom picked up the glass again and drank from it, "To escape my father's cruel clutches, I went to New York for my studies… I was going to become a lawyer. It was the first time in my life when I had truly enjoyed freedom. But as it turns out, when given such freedom, I would abuse it."

Bonnie looked at him with furrowed eyebrows as he shrugged his shoulders and said, "I got into some bad situations, gambling, Drugs and women… the trifecta to ruin anyone's life. It had become so bad that I had lost all the money for the tuition on it. And with no choice I had to return home."

Tom chuckled and said, "After two years I had returned to Mystic Falls… I still wrote to Stefan and Damon but even in their letters they couldn't have described as to how much had changed. As soon as I set foot into the town, I felt it… something was off, it was like disease that festered in the dark and it all began from my home."

"What do you mean it began from your home?" Bonnie asked and Tom smiled and said, "Don't get hissy, I'm coming to it." Tom drank again as he continued, "Katherine…" He sighed and looked blankly into the void and Bonnie looked at him like he was going to speak again after a few moments he did, "She was you know what and the former lover of my brothers…" He drank again but this time to calm his nerves.

The glass was now empty so he poured another glass and asked Bonnie, "Would you like some?" She shook her head and said, "Very well." He drank a little and continued, "The first time I saw that girl was when she was reading a book in our garden, bathed in sunlight. She looked serene," Bonnie rolled her eyes and Tom saw it and smiled "But her beauty wasn't so, it was a disguise, to hide her true self… I was a little surprised to know that my cheap Dad had taken in a runaway but it made sense now."

"Anyway, I had decided to stay for a while before I could leave with some money… even if I couldn't complete my college, I would just get a job and try to live on my own. That was the plan, but it all changed in one night. When was I going back to my room after getting some water, I saw the door of Stefan's room to be left open, I could hear some voices coming from there and I went to check it. That's when I came to saw her on top of Stefan biting his neck. Her eyes were bloodshot and veins popping around. She saw me and even before I could turn.

She had grabbed me by the throat, squeezing the life out of me, Stefan begged her and she dropped me to the ground and smiled, she bent down as she looked me in the eyes and told me forget about it."

"Wait!" Bonnnie exclaimed as she looked around and said, "If she told you to forget about it then? How?"

"How do I remember?" Tommy said with a small sigh as he looked at her and she nodded, "Well, I'm getting there… After she tried to compel me, I was so scared that I did as she asked me to do… but I think she knew that something was off about me. I wanted to leave so bad but I couldn't and I didn't really know what to do, so I decided to trust my dad.

But when I went to talk to him about it he just didn't want to listen. Then we got into an argument and it escalated he hit me with his horsewhip on my face, it cut me right across the cheek…" Tom looked at the glass of wine, "I wanted to punch him so bad… but I couldn't, so I just walked out of there. I went to the woods near my house to vent some of my frustration.

As I was trying to calm myself down, I heard a voice of a woman, I turned around to see and that's when I met Emily." Bonnie's eyes widened in shock when she heard her name and Tom saw that and chuckled softly, "Emily was the personal help of Katherine and a witch… she was sent to keep eyes on me. She saw the whole thing with my dad. She wasn't going to do anything but when she realised that I had healed myself. It all changed."

"Ah, sorry? What do you mean healed yourself?" Bonnie asked as she leaned closer.

"At the time I didn't know but I had healed the wound that my father gave me… I was just laying on the ground thinking when I grabbed a wild weed and somehow absorbed it's life to heal myself. I was just as shock as Emily… anyway after that day, things were set in motion, things that even I didn't know would come to pass."

Tom looked at her and asked, "Should I go on?" Bonnie nodded hastily and Tom sighed, "Well, after that day, Emily became something more to me… she told me that I was something supernatural, something between, normal and a witch."

"You are a witch?!" Bonnie exclaimed as she banged her hand on the table. Tom shushed her and said, "Were… were a witch, whatever… Emily became something of a teacher, a friend, a confidant… when the time was right she told me about her plan… she wanted to rid the town of its disease. And I was more than happy to do so. So I helped her in making three tools, that helped the town and even now."

"So Emily was like a good person?" She looked away as she said in an undertone which was quite clear to Tom's ear, "And possible lover?"

Tom's face looked as though he had sucked on a lemon sour as he shook his head and said, "Not quite, the night before the undertaking was about to happen. Emily came to my room, with a bottle of wine from the cellar. We celebrated the night of our victory… in a way." A smug look appeared on his face as he said it.

"Stop" Bonnie said, "I can't hear about that it's weird." Tom rolled his eyes and drank a little before continuing, "But when I was sleeping, Katherine came into my room and killed me."

"Wait what?" Bonnie asked Tom hummed as he nodded, "Katherine, had heard whispers about it, from someone on the inside. Turns out it was Emily, she framed me and let me take the fall for it…"

"I'm sorry but if Katherine killed you, how are you alive?" Bonnie asked

"Yeah, turns out it was Emily… she had put someone's blood in the wine… anyways. When I woke up I saw the town in utter chaos, the things running amok, people hunting them. And I realised that I was now one of them so I left as soon as I could. Later I found out that because of my brazenness had cost me the lives of my brothers and father. This place is not just my home, but also one of my single biggest faliures."
