"Enough of digging into her personal life, Mom," Tyler interrupted his mother. He was apprehensive; if his parents realized Natalie was the daughter of the wealthiest man in the city, they would swoon. It would be impossible for him to explain his acquaintance with a local celebrity.
"Fine… Fine…" Ruth murmured, eyeing her son petulantly.
"Mom, can you tell me what happened last night? Did anything unexpected occur that can explain your miraculous recovery?"
Ruth shrugged and held up her fingers. "The only thing strange last night was Tracy's visit."
The woman pointed at the ring on her finger. "She insisted I wear this. It's supposed to be some alternative healing ornament you got for me."
"That's it? Nothing else out of the ordinary happened?"
Ruth fiddled with the ring and sported a serious expression. "I agreed to wear it without thinking since I didn't want to upset you. Do you think the ring healed me? Where did you get the stone?"
