At 8 in the morning, Marvin finished his washing up, ate two slices of buttered bread, drank two cups of black tea, and then came to the Church.

Following old customs, he first distributed the day's food allowance to the kitties, then cleaned up the hair that had fallen on the ground and opened the Church's grand doors.

Marvin had no intention of discarding the cat hairs; he planned to save them up and, once he had accumulated enough, mix them with some cotton to make a big, warm blanket for the kitties to use during winter.
