Chapter 4: The plan

"Today is a little warmer than normal" I said to my brother who was sitting next to me in a corner of the orphanage. We've been here for three days and we'll probably want to stay longer.

The orphanage was not large or refined, it seemed more like a warehouse that had its function changed. It was made of stones and had two rooms, the main area where the children slept, ate and spent time, and a second room where the room of the lady responsible for the orphanage was located.

I don't have much to say about her, just an old woman who likes children and has nothing better to do. The children are normal at most, all between 7 and 10 years old, apparently Carl and Teus were the oldest here, both 12 years old.

I got some interesting information from the children, according to them, the concept of wizards and warriors is common sense so I think I can trust the memories of the original owner of this body. My brother and I adopted their names as a sign of respect for forcibly giving up their bodies to us.

Carl will be my name and Teus my brother's name, we don't have surnames or anything like that but I don't think that will be a problem for now.

I let out a light sigh and opened my eyes to take a look at the room, my brother was still next to me, thrown on a chair that I was surprised hadn't broken yet and looking up, his boredom overflowing.

We were alone in the living room, all the children decided to go out and play today. After these three days I managed to formulate an improvised plan. I discovered that at the age of 13 a person can take the majority test, which consists of finding out whether the person will be capable of becoming a wizard, a cultivator or simply an ordinary mortal. From MIA's analysis, my brother has something that shouldn't normally exist in a normal human body, near his belly button, and I have something like that in my brain.

I think we can come to the conclusion that we will be able to become something beyond the common mortal with these analyses. But there's a problem, it's expensive, very expensive. So we will need money and we will also need to strengthen our bodies, these little bodies that are now ours cannot be called well cared for, they are just skin and bones.

We will also need to travel to a real city, Scalu the village we are in now was smaller than a small block on earth. A village that has nothing more than ordinary people living their ordinary lives. The owner of these lands, Scalu and the surrounding area, is a baron named Durvan, a warrior with a light blue core.

The name of the city where the baron is located is Murtal, it is the center of the barony with an average of 100 thousand inhabitants, I managed to hear this information from some merchants who were passing through, and conveniently they were talking very loudly.

"Hey mister nerd!" said my brother with clear discontent and a mocking tone, "you spent your entire adolescence cramming in books, and three days later we still don't have a plan?" I can't deny that more time has passed than I would have liked to have a complete plan, but this is a very unexpected scenario for me.

I look at him out of the corner of my eyes. "Calm down, everything has to be perfectly calculated, we are in a completely unknown environment." Even hearing this he snorted "Killing everyone will always be the easiest path to think about." I just agreed without taking it seriously "yes, yes, that's why I'm responsible for thinking here".

Ignoring my reckless brother I return to my thoughts.

We need to earn money somehow, enough to be able to go to Murtal. The main objective is to get more information and maybe make more money, once established we can think about magical things and related things.

After massaging my temples a little more I came to a conclusion, I slowly opened my eyes and looked at my brother who was still in the same position. "Hey, let's take a walk around the village, we need to find something we can use to get money."

He promptly jumped up from his chair, "Finally!" that's what he said. I also got up from the corner where I was sitting and we started walking outside, as there was no one present at the moment, there were no questions either and that was convenient, I'm not the type who likes to give explanations.

Once outside, the sun on my face reminded me that today was hotter than normal, maybe that's normal for this place, you know, we arrived shortly after all. Some children were playing in front of the orphanage and they waved at my brother, he raised his middle finger at them. "I don't like other people's children, only my own. Or rather, the ones I'm going to make hehehe." Sometimes I think my brother was born with a screw loose.

After seeing me looking at him strangely he asked "what now?", I started making circular movements with my index finger upwards as I said "let's look around, we are looking for anything we can sell, flowers, clay, fibers and things like that." He nodded slowly "Got it bro" and started walking in a random direction, leaving me standing there looking at his back.

I hope he doesn't get into trouble, the chances are not small. Now it's my turn to look, after letting out a small sigh I started walking in the opposite direction. The orphanage is at the end of the village, or at the beginning. It depends on which direction you arrive, My brother went towards the village and I'm going out of it.

Maybe I'll find something good like a good place to get clay, or maybe I'll find a bear and become food. After one last look at the village I cross my fingers and move on.
