I’m a Demon Lord, So What? [2] (DanMachi SI)

"Why am I not surprised?" I couldn't help but mutter as I stared at the name of the Monster before me with my Analyse skill.

"So I'm in DanMachi." I walked to the Monster that just stood there like a statue. Once I was in front of its towering figure, I pat its fur-covered belly, and it tumbled downward.

"…."

Furrowing my brows, I used my Magic Eyes and-oh, it's dead…

"Oh well," Shrugging, I placed my hand on its body, making it vanish into my Item Box. Looking around for a moment, I closed my eyes, imagining a pair of bat-like wings coming from my back.

WSH!

"Nice~" I stared at the devilish red wings that popped out of my back. It confirmed the theory that my race and the dungeon are a mix of the dungeon-demon lord manga's I read.

In the case of my race, it's exactly the same as that one manga with main character called Yuki, same with the title and skills. Then Haku, she was a Dungeon Core from the manga about a guy who was too lazy to even do anything.

"Well, this makes it better for me." I tricked my Mana into my wings and flexed them, taking off into the air.

The sensation was exhilarating, a rush of freedom coursing through my veins as I soared higher and higher. The wind whipped against my face, tousling my hair as I flew, feeling weightless and untethered.

As I ascended, the air around me grew cleaner, unpolluted by the stench of decay and sulfur that permeated the buildings below.

The sky stretched out endlessly before me, a vast expanse of blue dotted with fluffy white clouds. Below, the scorched and blackened buildings and ground of the Abandoned World came into view.

I could see the extent of the destruction, the remnants of what was once a thriving civilization reduced to rubble. It was a desolate landscape, devoid of life except for the monsters that now called it home.

"The One-Eyed Black Dragon." There was no other monster that could be responsible for such wanton destruction in this world.

Sigh~

"I guess I really am a Demon Lord," I muttered, realising I didn't even feel an ounce of pity for the people that died.

Shaking my head, my eyes turned north, where I could see a decently large clump of stationary magical energy. "Our resident god-slayer seems to still be sealed, and its spawns don't seem to free yet, meaning we're two or more years away from canon." Which is not good.

Something like a new dungeon appearing right now is bound to get attention, since the other than the wannabe villains Evilus, no one knows about the possibility of a second or artificial dungeon.

"And we just had to be neighbours with them too." I shifted my gaze southwest, where I could see mountains, which surrounded something akin to a colosseum, "Telyskura."

{Did you find out where we are Luci?} Believe me when I say I didn't jump at the sudden voice in my head.

{Fufu~ So you did jump at hearing my voice in your head.}

{Who wouldn't if they weren't expecting it. Anyways, how did you contact me?} Taking one last glance of the surroundings, I descended to the blackened castle.

{…I missed you.}

My lips twitched into a smile at that, {I'll take that explanation.}

{Are you making fun of me Luci?} I could feel the pout she was sporting through the connection, so I shook my head.

{I was being serious. As a Demon Lord and Dungeon Core, we already have a connection, so this was probably something that we would have found out eventually.

If it wasn't for you, we might have had to experience some trope or plot where we end up separated, and our strong feelings for each other would have unlocked this ability.} I explained with mild amusement as I entered the throne room.

"Sounds stupid," Haku stood up from the throne, "But you're probably right," and I took her spot while she sat on my lap, her arms my neck.

"So," Her red eyes stared into my crimson ones, "Are we in a fictional world?"

"What made it obvious? The fact that this body of mine belonged to a god from a action manhwa, or your appearance?"

She rolled her eyes at my response, "Fanfiction made it obvious." I paused at her words, before nodding, "Makes sense."

"Stop stalling."

"DanMachi." Her hand that was patting my head froze as she registered what I said.

"…The world of thots and rabbit," The chuckle that left my lips died down as she said, "This isn't funny, Luci. Don't you see? That voyeur thot will set her eyes on you, and chase you to the end of the world." I kinda forgot about her.

"I have A+ Mana and Demon Lord's Authority," I reminded, adding, "the passive effect of the latter killed a Bugbear, which had the same stats as me, save for Mana, and Luck which was I-."

"Surface monsters are weaker than the dungeon ones," Haku quipped, before a thoughtful look made its way onto her face. "If what you said is true then we might have a rough estimate on how your parameters work."

I nodded in agreement, "That's what I thought too. With I being Level 1, and S Level 10."

"So your A+ Mana is probably peak Level 9." Haku said with a low hum, "But it's kind of pointless since you don't have any spells, and it doesn't change the fact that everything else about you is Level 2."

"Only if I don't reinforce myself with Mana," I replied, feeling slightly miffed at my apparent Weakness.

"Have you tried it?" My Dungeon Waifu asked as she sent me waves of encouragement through our connection.

"I will now," Saying so, I let my Mana—which in a clichéd turn of events had a heart organ of its own—rush throughout out my body—at least that's what I would have done if I was an idiot.

But since I'm not keen in making my body explode into a shower of blood, I released my Mana in trickles, imagining my Mana Heart as a tap, slowly letting it fill my body.

"And protagonists like Deku take three seasons trying to not damage themselves." Sniffing, I closed the tap that was my Mana Heart once I felt my body unable to handle any more.

"Or maybe you inherited the prodigiousness of the original Satan," Haku teased, pulling up my parameters.

"Peak Level 4, not bad." Haku commented, pausing when she didn't see much of a reaction from me. "Lucian, what's wrong?"

"I didn't tell you much about our current location did I? Only the world we are in." I reminded her.

"That's true," She nodded for a moment, and was about to ask me to continue, before something clicked, her head snapping to me rapidly. "There's a Monster at or above Level 4 near us, isn't it?"

I sighed at her words, "If only it was that simple."

"Explain." Sensing her agitation, I sent her calming emotions through our link, making her relax into my lap.

"North of us is the Elsos Ruins, and Southwest is Telyskura. Further north, past Elsos Ruins is the Far East, and west of us is Altena."

"We're fucked." Haku muttered.

I nodded in agreement, "We're fucked."

"You don't sound too worried," She looked down, noticing the smile on my face.

"What can I say, I rather enjoy the trope where the underdog comes out on top despite the odds against them." Hugging her waist, I continued, "And with you by my side, is there anyone that can beat me?"

Blushing a little, Haku gave a teasing grin, "Nah, you'd win."

"…." I shot her a flat look.

"Why are you staring at me like that, husband~?" Haku leaned down, whispering in my ear, "You aren't innocent either~"

I froze, a certain memory appearing in my mind, making me burrow my face in Haku's pillows, "Forget about that. Pretend it didn't it happen."

"Fufu~There's no way I can do that Luci~ And it was cool, so don't worry." She giggled, hugging my head.

….

..

.

"You okay now?"

"Let's focus on our Dungeon." I replied, changing the subject.

"Sure~" She's still thinking about it.

****

A/N: Finally focusing on what could be considered Lucian's cheat.

Also, is the pacing too slow? Would you guys prefer less or more interactions like these?
