Chapter 21: Chapter 21. Shadows of power

"Um?"

"He actually left!"

The passage was full of corpses. After Clark eliminated the last enemy, he suddenly turned his head and looked to the other side.

His eyes penetrated the layers of walls and saw two figures running into the safe passage.

X-ray vision, super hearing.

Of course, unlike Superman, who can easily monitor the world after being formed, Clark is not yet able to do that.

But he can still do it by just monitoring the movements in an Air Force base.

As for x-ray vision, it was a power that appeared some time ago.

That day, Clark suddenly found that he could see directly through the wall and see the scene on the road outside the house.

Everything seemed normal.

There was no splitting headache.

Including super hearing, Clark could also easily listen to only what he wanted to hear, just like instinct, filtering out the irrelevant ones.

"Really, it looks like I can only do it by myself."

Clark shook his head. He couldn't say he was disappointed or anything.

Although he originally wanted Carol to take action, he seemed to have underestimated the kindness and calmness of the other party.

Ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta

Rapid footsteps came from the other side of the passage.

Clark looked over there.

More soldiers were coming.

They were all heavily armed and even carried some powerful destructive weapons.

"Well, our Captain Marvel is a good guy, but I'm not."

While speaking, he had already rushed forward.

"Fire!"

The commander at the scene roared angrily, snatched the shoulder-mounted rocket launcher from the soldier next to him, and pressed the launch button directly towards the target.

The lights flickered, and fine stone dust continued to scatter on the walls.

The entire base seemed to be shaking.

Fury, who was going downstairs quickly, almost fell, but luckily Carol beside him helped him.

"Careful!" Carol reminded.

Fury nodded and looked up.

"What tough enemies did they encounter?"

Carol shook her head and said, "No matter who it is, at least the other party bought us time."

She did not consider how many casualties the appearance of this unknown enemy would cause.

Although she was unwilling to kill those innocent soldiers, it did not mean that she would be too concerned about the lives of these people.

Carol is kind.

But only kind to a normal extent. And—don't forget that she is a warrior.

She actually takes a relatively light view of life and death.

"You're right." Fury nodded.

Compared to Carol, he doesn't care about this even more.

The only thing he cares about is: Has Hydra's support arrived?

How many people have come? Will this kind of firepower be needed? Weapons?

You know, this is in the middle of a mountain.

Although it has been reinforced with modern technology, if there is really too much movement, it will collapse.

"Let's hurry up, I don't want to be buried under a pile of rocks." Fury said quickly.

Carol nodded.

She didn't want that either.

Boom!!!

The explosive fireball shattered the wall made of reinforced concrete. In the smoke and dust, a figure slowly walked toward them.

"The power is good, but the accuracy is a bit off." Clark walked out of the smoke-filled area, patted the dust off his clothes, and looked at the corpses around him.

He walked up to a guy who was not completely dead.

"Demon! You... you will... go to hell!"

The lieutenant, half of his body pressed down by the stone slab on the ground, cursed viciously.

Clark smiled nonchalantly.

"You're not the first person to call me a devil. As for hell, you can go and see it if you have the opportunity in the future. I believe Mephisto will welcome me as a guest."

"God will punish you!"

The lieutenant on the ground spat blood and continued to curse.

Clark bent down and picked up a gun from a pile of rubble.

"Then please help me ask him how he wants to punish me."

He smiled and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The world went silent.

Throwing away the gun, Clark walked towards the safe passage.

The warning light above his head was still flashing red.

Clark's super hearing allowed him to hear everything going on inside the entire base.

He heard the sound of the car starting, the sound of someone roaring angrily, whispered prayers, and trembling cries... These sounds intertwined together, like a microcosm of the mundane world.

Clark now felt more and more like Superman.

If I want it, I can do it.

But he also admired Superman's righteous heart even more.

What kind of will allows him to have such powerful power but still restrain himself?

Is it an ideological restriction?

Or is it the bond between relatives and loved ones?

Maybe both, maybe none.

Clark is not Superman.

He cannot be a hero like Superman.

Even without this power, he still wouldn't want to be a hero.

Because it is too tiring to be a hero, too many people will judge your behavior, that kind of finger-pointing, you're obviously as weak as an ant, but you proudly criticize the behavior of gods.

How ridiculous!
