Chapter 50: Analyze

Welcome to chapter 50! Can't believe we're halfway to 100 chapters already.

I am not planning on this being a short fanfic. If you do want a recommendation, I'd say pile the chapters up. Some are slow, you've seen that personally. Slice of life will be a heavy influence here. Fights will come and go.

Most of you seem to be in favor of throwing lesser known stories into the mix.

Currently considering the following series: History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, Tokyo Revengers, Kengan Ashura, Hajime no Ippo, and All-Rounder Meguru. If you have any recommendations, let me know!

As always, don't forget to drop some power stones!

Kiyosumi Katou...

I didn't expect Katou to introduce himself that quickly to me. He even had a surprised look in his eyes the moment Doppo dropped my name on him.

I took the time to recall who Katou was. He was one of Doppo's leading disciples of the Shinshinkai Dojo. Or was, at least. Around two to three years ago, he left the dojo outright, telling Doppo directly in the face that his style of Karate didn't suit Katou. He left the dojo, and began wandering the streets until the Yakuza took him in. From there, Katou performed deeds in the shadows that were questionable by human standards. I am not sure if he went as far as killing people, however.

I wasn't too familiar with how the Yakuza worked, but this organization was equivalent to the Mafia. They organized crime punishing those who couldn't uphold the debts one may have accrued. Some even see the Yakuza as a necessary evil. Without the Yakuza, there would likely be a much higher crime rate in Japan.

Many folks who belong in the Yakuza carry tattoos somewhere on their body that symbolize what group they are a part of. I didn't see any tattoos directly on Katou's outward figure, so he was likely hiding one underneath his present clothing. That was the main reason why the Japanese denied tattoos in most facilities, especially public bathing. One could easily mistake a person as a Yakuza member.

And speaking of gangsters, there was that one person who called him the number one street fighter. He was one of the goats of the Baki-verse. Kaoru Hanayama. He might seem old, but he's actually quite young. I don't know if he's on Yujiro's level, but he is definitely on Doppo's level. Another couple 'strongest' fighters of their respective fields were Izou Motobe, Kaiou Retsu, and Gouki Shibukawa.

Once I progress my Mastery in Karate and spend these next couple days perfecting the Rigid Body technique, my next area of interest is related to Gouki's techniques. Gouki's techniques were what's known as Aiki. Unlike other characters in the Baki-verse, he did not have a rippling body, full of muscle. This style of fighting was much more pragmatic, and it allowed its users to topple even the heaviest of their enemies.

Aiki was very similar to Judo. But instead of using one's weight to gain an advantage over their opponents, Aiki focused on redirecting one's attack, shifting the opponent's force, and making it null and void. It wasn't just that either. A user of Aiki could even counterattack, striking with precision while their opponent is immobilized.

Force disruption at its finest.

Baki has fought Gouki before, and he even made an appearance in the Maximum Tournament. With all the extra mumbo-jumbo going on now, I am curious to see if the old man will reach out, inviting others I'm not aware of.

Doppo too, partook in that tournament.

As Lala started to hum and enjoy the outside view, Doppo had a quick glance at her while I glanced my eyes back at him. He still had a couple of large onigiri balls within his open piece of cloth. He took another moment to chomp one down in one go.

I saw Doppo's eyes glance back my way, proceeding to disregard Lala.

"So, you headin' somewhere, Baki?", Doppo decided to ask me while licking his lips.

"To your place, actually.", I immediately answered with a nod of my head. Doppo's lips curved upward, smirking at me .

"Heh, I see you took that invitation seriously then. Meanwhile, this chump over here can't appreciate my kind gestures. I even treated Katou to a full-course meal in honor of his return to the Shinshinkai. And guess what, he flipped the entire table on me. If you want to complain about someone having rude manners, then toss that anger to this guy.", Doppo said, pointing his thumb at the black-haired man next to him.

"You've got to be kidding me.", Katou retorted, hearing Doppo say that. Doppo's eyes remained serious, and latched onto Katou as if it was a tiger currently eyeing its prey.

"Does it look like I'm kidding?", Doppo said. He didn't have his usual joking demeanor. I could see a serious look in his eyes. When Doppo is serious like this, he's serious. "You let several thousand dollars of food go to waste during that meal, Katou. The place that I took you to was a michelin restaurant. They don't just allow anyone. I use it on special occasions. If the Shinshinkai wasn't financially stable, I probably would have left you there to rot.", Doppo said, explaining the situation of what happened earlier to me. I do remember that Doppo invited Katou to a pretty fancy restaurant when Katou first returned to the Shinshinkai, leaving the Yakuza behind him. I wonder if my current placement in time was around when that happens?

As I wondered that, I saw a frown appear on Katou's lips.

"You could have told me that to begin with. I just thought it was a fancy restaurant.", Katou replied.

"That doesn't matter. You flipped over a table of good food.", Doppo replied back, chomping down yet another one of his remaining onigiri. Surprisingly, Doppo turned my way, and proceeded to ask me a question. Doppo was playing the fiddle here, acting as if he was trying to decide Katou's fate.

"What do you think we should do with Katou, Baki? I'm down a few grand thanks to him. Do you think he should even take a step inside the Shinshinkai at this rate?", Doppo asked me.

"Heh. His appearance would cause the dojo to rot, no? After all, Katou is of the Yakuza. They're the shit stains that corrupt the Japanese society.", I replied in response to Doppo's remark.

"Is that what you think of us?", A sudden voice called out to us. Realizing that we had already arrived at the next stop, the door hissed, letting a few passengers get off. I saw Katou was about to stand up the moment he heard that comment escape from my lips, but was interrupted by a rather tall figure coming into the same cabin with us. Katou's body suddenly froze the moment his eyes landed on this tall figure. He was wearing a full white tuxedo, coupled with a purple undershirt, and a pink tie. He had a pair of thin glasses over his eyes, making him appear stylish.

Even I paused seeing this giant now standing with his head touching the roof of the cabin we were currently in. It definitely drew some other gazes from the other passengers. It wasn't often to see a man this tall.

'This is the leading figure of the Hanayama yakuza group...', I mused to myself, staying silent as I observed this man. Lala blinked her eyes, not expecting to see such a person arrive before us.

"Who the hell are you--?", Katou tried to ask, before getting interrupted by the tall figure himself. All of a sudden, this man reached his arm out, and swooped downward, latching itself onto Katou's head in one fell swoop.

Katou felt his body start lifting up off the seat he was sitting on while we felt another jerk of the cabin, which proceeded moving again.

"L-Let go of me, you bastard!", Katou replied, struggling to break free, but Hanayama's grasp was too firm. He couldn't do anything. Doppo watched on with a playful smile.

"You give the Yakuza a bad name. We're a reputable organization. We know what to do, and when to do it. If you use us for personal benefit, don't say I didn't warn you. Even I wouldn't turn down a good meal. Dredges like you are what rot our community. You're no different than a pile of trash.", The tall man said, looking at Katou. Unlike Katou here, this man was a bonafide Yakuza member.

In fact, on top of being called the number one street fighter, this man was also the number one person in the Yakuza.

Kaoru Hanayama, in the flesh.

His reputation preceded him. He definitely had a domineering attitude. He could shut opponents down before the other side could do anything. A prime example of what was happening before me. Kaoru was quick to react, shutting Katou down with brute force alone.

Unfortunately, that hold only lasted for a brief period. Hanayama released his grip, causing Katou to fall back down onto his seat. I could see sweat droplets forming over his forehead as he was powerless against him.

Hanayama padded his tuxedo a bit before he turned his head toward Doppo.

"But I was only passing through to the next cabin. Don't hesitate to ask if you want to see what a real brawl looks like.", Hanayama's voice coldly said to us. He waved his hand, letting his giant figure retreat into the next cabin to our left. It was pretty funny seeing him bend downward to head to the next one. Before I saw Hanayama's figure completely vanish, I disregarded Katou's current state, and went into my thoughts. I wanted to ask Aura something.

'Say Aura, is it possible to analyze other people with this system that was given to me? It would be cool to see other people's stats, but it is a double-edged sword. I am not sure I really want to see them.', I decided to ask Aura.

"It should be possible, Master. Just like how the creation of Power Levels was given to you, it would be considered a skill in its infancy. There is margin for error, and what you would see may not be entirely accurate. Shall I proceed in creating this skill for you?", Aura's voice asked me.

After Aura asked, I paused, wondering if I really should create a skill like this? But considering I was given a system with stats of my own, as well as creating my own Power Level, it wouldn't do any good if I were to just stop there, right? It's almost like I was becoming a game character of my own thinking that.

'Do it.', I inwardly declared.

"Understood, Master.", Aura's voice said, acknowledging my request. Since the intent was clear, I soon heard a notification sound off inside my mind.

[Ding! User Baki has created a new skill, Analyze.]

[Analyze]

-Allows User Baki to perceive an opponent's stats and techniques. Note, this is not an eye technique, or anything of relation to that. It will not help User Baki in battle. It will only quantify what is seen before you.

Yes, it is that Analyze skill. A popular trope for fantasy stories that have status screens. I am no less to those stories, but at least for mine, my status has been specialized to the Baki-verse.

Yet, the moment I used Analyze on the retreating Hanayama, I almost spat out a cold breath of air.

[Kaoru Hanayama]

Age: 19

HP: 50,000 STR: 10,000 END: 10,000 TEQ: 0 SPD: 1000

Ki: N/A

Martial Arts: N/A

Battle Power: 5250

Suppressed Battle Power: N/A

'Holy fucking wall of a tank...', I immediately cursed to myself seeing the big boss of the Yakuza vanish into the next cabin, leaving the four of us behind. I won't ask why he's taking the subway train like we are, he has every right to do so. It's just odd seeing people like him on the train. I'd figure he didn't like driving a car, or he just thinks taking these trains is the more convenient way to go.

To have a battle power of 5250...He's almost three times as strong as Raditz when he came to Planet Earth. And surprisingly, he really was nineteen years old. He looks much older, but that was likely because he was receiving all the stress of being the boss of the Yakuza.

Currently the calculations went as follows, (STR + END + SPD + Ki/4). Seeing Kaoru not having any ounce of ki inside his body made sense, so we could take that as 0. I doubt many of those in the Baki-verse even had Ki. But once the land of Dragon Ball's situation calms down and people start heading over there for fun and exploration, no doubt will the existence of ki skyrocket. It is only a matter of time until people like Yujiro learn of ki's existence.

And you are telling me I have a year to reach someone of his level with the Maximum Tournament incoming? Wait, do I even have a year until that tournament happens?

***

Do you think 5k battle power is too little for Hanayama? Those big bosses and death row inmates and such, I'm thinking of giving them anywhere from 5k-20k range. Considering Baki is already 400+, he should grow well into this range in the coming year or two.

This might leave the Saiyan Saga in the dust, power levels that are to come in the future will obviously be tweaked to my liking, don't expect the vanilla when it comes to power levels later on. To add to that, with the growing chaos of the stories mixing, eight years may not even happen before the Saiyan saga starts.
