Chapter 204: Am I Perhaps a Fool?

The Queen had a somber look on her face as Bel walked into her chambers. She was seated with her arms resting elegantly in front of her, and her figure was rigid. "Bel," she said as Bel entered.

Bel frowned. It was impossible that the Queen didn't know why she was here. "Queen Alana," she started. Bel didn't bow, just walked directly to where the Queen sat and stood in front of her.

"What is it, child?" she asked with a tone that Bel hated. "I heard you wanted an audience with me."

"I was visited by a witch today," Bel began.

"I see," Alana said, with no surprise in her voice. "And what did she tell you?"

"You tell me," Bel replied. "You know, don't you?"

Queen Alana's eyes glanced toward the door, but Bel knew it wasn't an act of nervousness. The Queen didn't even seem the least bit bothered by Bel's discovery. She returned her gaze to Bel, holding her eyes.
