Chapter 54: Without A Smile

"Did something happen?" Malissa asked as she stepped into the room.

Bel frowned as she stood to her feet. She had been waiting for Malissa. "Why?" She asked.

"I don't know, you just look thoughtful."

"I never would have pinned you for someone observant."

"I know I can be ignorant sometimes but I am not dumb." Malissa pouted.

"I know," Bel said. "I was just surprised you noticed. I thought I was doing a really good job at hiding it."

"So something did happen?" Malissa asked.

Bel shrugged, "It is my wedding day. Of course, that's enough to put me in a thoughtful mood. I still want no part in this wedding and I truly wish I was desperate enough to do anything to stop it."

Malissa went quiet, Bel couldn't blame her. She had thought about telling Malissa for a second but she knew that wouldn't bode well. Malissa would want her to inform their parents but that was completely out of the question.
