Chapter 7: Military Development of House Tarth (1)

Up until now it seems like Galladon Tarth did nothing in the last 18 years except to activate his aura and give some advice to his father on how to develop the family further. Honestly, both were very important and already had major impact on House Tarth, who would otherwise be in a horrible position right now. Selwyn Tarth would be widowed, only Brienne would be alive, and House Tarth would have no male heir right now.

But Galladon was obviously not lazing around in the last 18 years. He worked very hard on himself. He trained in swordsmanship and all abilities helpful for a knight. Having a constantly increasing nearly inhuman body was obviously helpful in this endeavor. All elderly swordsman of House Tarth were increasingly surprised by the sheer skill and powerful force their young lord possessed. When he turned 14 years of age, he was already completely invincible on the whole island of Tarth, even though the knights of House Tarth were always highly regarded throughout Westeros.

In the last few years until he reached the age of 18 in 294 AC, he was constantly increasing the difficulty of his training by adding multiple enemies at one time. When he turned into a full grown man, he was already capable of fighting the ten best swordsman on the island of Tarth at the same time. Slowly but surely the constant impact of all four auras turned into a real evolution of his genes. He not only had incredible reflexes but could also predict the movements of his enemies by carefully watching them for a period.

His pure force was reaching an incredible level even though his body was not full of muscles and still relatively lean. Therefore, he could keep his incredible speed and endurance at a high level throughout longer fights. Galladon Tarth turned into an incredible all-around killing machine through hard training and relentless fights in the depths of the forest of Tarth.

While he was polishing himself and his personal skills, he never forgot to train capable subordinates for himself. Especially the people included in his aura were extremely carefully trained in combat skills, if they belonged to the force category, or commanding and literacy, if they belonged to the intelligent department. While the fighters were not incredibly smart, Galladon still forced all of them to learn common literacy knowledge and basic skills of commanding small-scale battlefields and skirmishes.

When he turned 18 on January 15 294 AC, he still had four aura places unused, but decided to safe them for possible targets he would meet on his journey to King's Landing this year. It was finally time for him to leave the island of Tarth this year and participate in the grand tournament in King's Landing. This year the tournament would be extremely large, and the prizes would be extra generous, because Robert Baratheon wanted to celebrate the 10th birthday of his oldest son and heir, Joffrey Baratheon. Truthfully, he probably only wanted to hold a large tournament and celebrate, using his son's birthday as an excuse.

During the last 18 years of his life Galladon raised up many different individuals with different constellations of his aura. He summarized them according to the following table.

 Year Intelligence Strength Health Speed

0 Galladon Galladon Galladon Galladon

1 Erina Erina Erina Erina

2 Selwyn Selwyn Selwyn Selwyn

14 Miltar Ryser Ryser Ryser

15 Gold Gold Gold Gold (Bee)

16 Brown Brown Brown Brown (Bear)

17 Alwyn Cow Cow Cow

Apart from his immediate family members and the animals he encompassed in the auras, he included a total of 15 additional people. Alwyn can be excluded from the last, as he was just incorporated last year and is only trained as a head steward for House Tarth in the future, therefore not having any impact in the military.

The first followers included by Galladon where Armin, Gustav, Patrik, and Emil. Armin is contained in the intelligent aura for 11 years by now and great changes in his mind and wisdom can already be felt. He is the oldest son of a very important retainer of House Tarth and grew up with Galladon since they were small children. There was probably no person in the world the young heir of House Tarth trusted more, whether loyalty or ability. Armin's position is supposed to be the second in command of Galladon's military units, while managing many of his personal industries outside of war times.

Gustav is currently working as the head of Galladon's guard regiment. They total 50 people in number and are all equipped with the finest steal equipment forged in Tarth. Every single person owns one of Red's children. They are by far the finest horses that can be found in the Seven Kingdoms, rivaling the best horses a Dothraki King can find. Even though the 50 guards were never involved in any of the auras, they were trained as warriors since they were picked up as little orphans from the streets of the Stormlands.

Since he was young Galladon asked his father Selwyn to gather young orphans in the Stormlands to personally train them. On the one hand House Tarth could show loyalty to House Baratheon by solving the problems of orphans on the streets of the Stormlands, and on the other hand the young heir of House Tarth could learn military management and raise his own cronies. Selwyn Tarth agreed with this suggestion, without knowing about Galladon's special abilities at the time. Most of the guards were raised by House Tarth and trained by Gustav for nearly 15 years by now, building a truly majestic and united combat unit.
