Chapter 33: The disgusting truth

I screamed and shut my eyes, bracing for the moment of impact, but the next second, I felt my body being pulled into a solid haven, drifting unrealistically.

Still unsettled, I heard exclamations around me, some people even applauding. I opened my eyes in disbelief to find myself in the arms of a tall man, enveloped by a distinctly masculine scent.

The man was wearing a black mask, his deep eyes intently fixed on my face. There was something familiar about those eyes.

My hand was still tightly gripping his arm, and my eyes were locked onto his.

He set me down and steadied me, not speaking, but looked at the hand I had on his arm. I quickly realized my own indiscretion, swiftly withdrawing my hand with an embarrassed laugh, "Sorry! Thank you!"

Someone had already picked up my luggage and brought it over to me. "Be careful, that was close. Lucky this gentleman was quick to act!"

I bowed slightly to the man again, "Thank you! I'm very grateful!"
