Chapter 9: Chapter 08 :- “Have I been reborn?

In an unexpected development, Lu Yu extended an offer of 1 million Yuan to Qiao Manli, a proposition that left her completely stunned. Coming from a middle-class background, Qiao Manli was well aware of the value of money.

While 1 million Yuan might be insignificant to some, for many, it represented a considerable sum. In a third-tier city, this amount could afford a luxurious junior suite, a dream for the average individual.

When Lu Yu presented his bank card to her, Qiao Manli found herself grappling with a moral dilemma. She was caught between ensuring Yan Yun's safety and the tempting prospect of 1 million Yuan.

Faced with this predicament, she found herself leaning towards the latter.

Her decision was not driven by greed or any malice towards Yan Yun. It wasn't a lack of understanding of the illegality of the situation either.

Rather, it was the fact that Yan Yun had found herself in this predicament.

Aligning with Yan Yun at this point would mean opposing Lu Yu.

Would Lu Yu then implicate her as an accomplice?

Moreover, did she possess the capability to thwart Lu Yu's plans? It seemed unlikely.

Abandoning 1 million Yuan for a girl she despised and then confronting this wealthy young master didn't seem like a fair trade-off. With this in mind, Qiao Manli steeled her resolve and accepted Lu Yu's bank card.

Observing this, Lu Yu couldn't help but flash a smile. He then handed Qiao Manli another bottle of mineral water.

This left Qiao Manli momentarily taken aback before she gritted her teeth once again, her last vestige of conscience reproaching her actions. But at this point, she was left with no other alternative.

Yan Yun was in a stupor, oblivious to the fact that Qiao Manli had been swayed by Lu Yu. With Qiao Manli's 'assistance', Yan Yun was lulled into a slumber.

Lu Yu's plan for Yan Yun was straightforward and singular - to claim her as his own. Although he yearned to foster a relationship with her and get to know her better, the system only allotted him seven days.

Seven days was hardly sufficient time to make someone your girlfriend, let alone your own woman.

Furthermore, Lu Yu's concealed attribute was that of a villain, while Yan Yun's was that of a heroine. The challenge of a villain pursuing a heroine was exponentially difficult.

Devoid of any means, how could he win her over?

Thus, Lu Yu resorted to this method.

Admittedly, this was Lu Yu's maiden attempt at such a thing, and he was somewhat uncertain.

If the system's countdown turned out to be a hoax and the end times didn't arrive, he would likely be arrested within two days under the influence of the protagonist's halo, potentially ruining his life.

Nevertheless, Lu Yu decided to take the risk.

Having witnessed such outrageous phenomena as time-travel and the system, he believed that the apocalypse predicted by the system was likely to be true.

On the 8th floor of the Rhine Hotel,

Lu Yu had stockpiled supplies and weapons. He chose the hotel as his temporary base for two reasons. Firstly, he wanted to save time and avoid the hassle of house hunting.

Secondly, he needed to deal with the protagonist, so he couldn't be too far from the school, but he also needed some development time, so he couldn't be too close to Chu Feng.

Therefore, when he couldn't find a villa near the school, he decisively chose a ready-made hotel.

The total distance from the school was less than 500 meters, making it very convenient for dealing with Yan Yun and hoarding supplies.

The average hotel wouldn't allow people to hoard goods. But in this world, money was power. Not only could you hoard goods in hotel rooms, but you could even transform the hotel living room into a thatched hut without anyone stopping you.

So, Lu Yu converted the first few rooms here into his temporary base for convenience.

At this time, Xue Li and Ding Feng were residing in room 8006. Qiao Manli was placed in room 8007 by Lu Yu.

And Lu Yu brought Yan Yun to room 8008. Lu Yu's drug was not in wine, but in juice prepared by Xue Li. It wasn't a special drug, just a regular sleeping pill.

The real game-changer was the bottle of water that Yan Yun drank.

Originally, Lu Yu wanted to bring everyone down together. After all, according to the system's countdown, the world would end at nine o'clock the next morning.

At that time, what did it matter what he did?

But Xue Li's drug effect seemed to be slightly weaker.

Yan Yun managed to hold onto a sliver of lucidity until they reached the car. However, the outcome, although not ideal, was tolerable for the time being.

Observing the innocent and charming girl lying on the bed with her eyes shut, Lu Yu inhaled deeply.

"Yan Yun, Yan Yun, we have no personal disputes, but for a brighter future, I can't help but apologize to you…" After saying this, Lu Yu entered the room, closing the door behind him.

Simultaneously, in room 502 of the male dormitory on the other side, a good-looking young man named Chu Feng, who was Qiao Manli's boyfriend in name, was tucked in bed, incessantly texting his girlfriend.

Prior to his rebirth, Chu Feng was profoundly in love with Qiao Manli.

He sent numerous messages, but all of them were ignored, which drove Chu Feng to the brink of insanity.

He was already somewhat drowsy, but he instantly woke up. After a short while, Qiao Manli responded, "I'm feeling sleepy today. We'll talk tomorrow." Following that, there was no further activity from Qiao Manli's end.

In reality, Qiao Manli was genuinely tired. Lu Yu hadn't informed her about the sedative in the juice, so she was also affected.

However, she and the other girls had consumed more alcohol, so the quantity of sleeping pills ingested was not as high as Yan Yun.

Consequently, that night, apart from Lu Yu and Yan Yun, everyone else drifted into a dream. Chu Feng, who received a message from Qiao Manli, also fell into a contented sleep.

The following day, at seven in the morning,

The weather was bright and sunny. The campus in the morning was picturesque, tranquil, and bustling. Each morning here signified the dawn of new hope.

However, a sudden noise reverberated throughout the 502 dormitory.

Chu Feng, who was sleeping on the top bunk, abruptly sat up, his face filled with an infinite murderous intent. After a moment, he blankly scanned the surrounding environment, and a sense of familiarity washed over him.

The murderous intent in his eyes gradually faded.

"Chu Feng, what are you up to, lad?"

"Did you have a nightmare??"

"You're yelling early in the morning, can't you let me sleep peacefully?"

There were six people in this dormitory. Upon hearing Chu Feng's sudden outburst, one or two complaints were hurled at Chu Feng.

However, Chu Feng disregarded everyone's grumbles and just stared at his hands in terror.

After a moment, he pinched his thigh. Damn, it hurts. He instinctively reached for the phone beside him.

Upon lighting up the phone screen, the date displayed was September 20, 2022, at 7:01 AM.

"Have I been reborn?

Reborn before the apocalypse?"

Chapter 10: Chapter 09 :- Has He Relocated?

Upon realizing that he had been reincarnated, Chu Feng initially felt a surge of elation. However, this feeling was swiftly replaced by a profound sense of apprehension and unease.

On the morning of September 20, 2022, at exactly 9 am,

The Earth was subjected to an event of unprecedented scale. Spatial rifts appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and from these gaps emerged creatures of unknown origin. Simultaneously, all life forms on Earth began to mutate.

In a blink of an eye, the entire planet was transformed into a massive battlefield. The foundations of civilization collapsed, and a sense of despair permeated the populace.

In times of peace, humans were largely civilized, engaging in intellectual activities such as reading, writing, painting, and dancing. Lawbreakers were apprehended and imprisoned.

However, when the world was on the verge of annihilation, humanity regressed from a state of civilization to one of savagery. In a desperate struggle for survival, individuals resorted to cannibalism. Even couples, once deeply in love, could turn against each other over a piece of stale bread.

Within a single day, the world underwent a complete transformation. Some people managed to survive, but their existence was a fate worse than death. Others were not so fortunate.

With less than two hours remaining until the end of the world, Chu Feng, filled with anxiety, quickly got dressed. His classmate, Li Bin, who lived in the lower bunk bed across from him, was puzzled to see Chu Feng awake at such an early hour.

"Chu Feng?

Why are you up so early?

Are you going for morning self-study?" Li Bin inquired.

As he hurriedly dressed, Chu Feng looked at Li Bin, and a flood of memories washed over him.

"You are… Li Bin?"Chu Feng queried.

Li Bin was taken aback,

"What?

You don't even recognize me anymore?

Are you really that sleepy?"

Sleep?

Chu Feng wished it was all a dream. The end of the world, the collapse of civilization, the alien invasion… He vividly remembered that on the first day of the world's end, Li Bin was impaled through the heart by a mantis-like creature's serrated sickle. Blood splattered everywhere, and his body was torn apart by those insects.

With these thoughts in mind, Chu Feng, now fully dressed, leaped out of bed. He glanced at the other five roommates who were awakened by him in the bedroom.

"For the sake of being classmates, let me give you a piece of advice!" Chu Feng declared.

"What advice?" one of them queried.

"Don't leave the bedroom before nine o'clock today," Chu Feng quickly advised.

"Why?"

another roommate questioned.

Chu Feng attempted to explain, "Everyone should have studied physics, right? You know that one dimension is a line, two dimensions are surfaces, three dimensions are three-dimensional, and four dimensions are…"

"Cease, cease, cease,

Chu Feng, what are you attempting to communicate?"

a dorm mate interjected.

"Rubbish, I'm utterly clueless about your discourse," another chimed in. Chu Feng, undeterred by their interruptions, implored them to lend him their ears. He stole another glance at his mobile phone and then made a startling revelation,

"In two hours, the apocalypse will be upon us. A cosmic tempest will engulf the world, causing the earth's surface to vibrate and fracture, opening up numerous tiny spatial rifts…"

Having delivered this shocking news, Chu Feng observed his roommates, their faces a mixture of confusion and disbelief. A subtle smile graced his lips as he spoke in a hushed tone,

"Are you familiar with the concept of a cosmic storm?

It's a phenomenon that will render the majority of the earth's electronic devices and precision instruments utterly useless!

In its aftermath, all your electrically powered devices - your mobile phones, air conditioners, computers, even your lighting fixtures - will cease to function."

Chu Feng's words seemed outlandish, prompting his roommates to regard him as if he were a idiot.

"Chu Feng, have you gone mad?"

one of them queried. "It sounds terrifying, as if you've lived through it!" another remarked.

"Are you still trapped in your dream?" a third one inquired.

"Indeed, it's 2022 now!

Do you think we're still in 2012?"

 a fourth one added.

"Have you been watching too many films?"

the fifth one questioned.

"You even mentioned the end of the world and the arrival of a cosmic storm.

Is it possible for water to seep into your brain when you pour it into your ear?"

the first one retorted.

Chu Feng's roommates ridiculed him, dismissing his claims entirely. From time immemorial, there have been countless prophecies of the end of the world, both major and minor!

Particularly since the year 2012, people have scoffed at the notion of an impending apocalypse!

What is the end of the world?

Only a fool would believe in it!

"Whether you choose to believe it or not is entirely up to you!" Chu Feng retorted, no longer interested in persuading them.

He spun on his heel and dashed out of the dormitory. Having been granted a new lease on life by the divine, he certainly wouldn't squander his time explaining such a mundane matter. Two hours, though brief, were incredibly precious. If used wisely, he could leverage the memories of his past life to thrive in the end times.

As for the lives of his roommates?

He begged their pardon. In the end times, everyone is at risk, and even he could only ensure his own survival, let alone look after others. Having exited the dormitory, Chu Feng couldn't help but sniffle.

Hehehe!

He gazed at the white clouds, the azure sky, and the students laughing and couples expressing their affection on the playground, and he inhaled deeply!

"Observe, my classmates, the forthcoming events will etch indelible memories into your minds for the rest of your lives, provided you survive, that is," Chu Feng declared.

On September 20, 2022, at 9:00 am,

Chu Feng vividly remembered that unprecedented calamities erupted simultaneously across the globe! Dense fog, earthquakes, tsunamis, tornadoes.

An alien invasion!

The human death toll was staggering. It was a nightmare for anyone!

In the end times, what is of utmost importance?

Undoubtedly, supplies!

However, upon leaving the dormitory, Chu Feng didn't immediately set out to gather supplies. Instead, he hailed a taxi and headed straight for the shanty town in the southern part of the city. Whether one admits it or not, surviving as a group in a harsh environment like the end times is definitely easier than surviving alone. Therefore, he needed to locate that dependable teammate first.

Wei Jianjun!

In his previous life, after their paths crossed, he had once accompanied Wei Jianjun back to his home.

He was aware of Wei Jianjun's place of residence. However, upon his arrival…

What?

Has he relocated?

Chu Feng was taken aback.
