Chapter 7: Taming
A small barrier with a radius of about 3 meters is erected around me. I hold it for 5 minutes and decide to let it go.
'Okay, I can use a simple domain now. One step closer to a Domain Expansion.'
Seeing as there wasn't anything useful for me left, I put the manual into my shadow and left the library.
'I don't know if I'm allowed to take the books or not, but it's still better to ask forgiveness than ask for permission. I should also take a Cursed Weapon from the Armory to use with the New Shadow Style.'
I headed over to the Armory, which was quite a walk away from the library, but when I finally got there, a guard in front of the entrance got in the way.
"The Armory is closed for today."
'Weird, I didn't know that our facilities had closing times.'
I looked at him with suspicion and could see that he looked annoyed at me.
"Don't you know who I am? I am Megumi Zenin."
I felt like one of those Young Masters from a Xianxia Novel when I said that.
"Even so, I have orders to not allow anyone inside." He says this while his eye twitches.
"Whatever, I'll come tomorrow." It was not worth it to cause a conflict here when I could always come later.
I walked away and went toward the empty training ground. Most of the other Zenin should have gone to bed already.
'I could use the time I have left today to tame the rest of my shikigami without interruptions.'
I arrived at the training ground and looked around to see no one in this open field.
'Perfect'
I shouted "Divine Dogs!" while making the dog hand sign.
I got them into the right position. This was going to be difficult, as hard as it would be to take down Miwa, The Honored One.
"Toad!" I shouted while making the Toad hand sign.
A bright green toad appeared with its tongue out.
We immediately jumped it. My dogs held the Toad down while I kept punching it in the face.
"Ribbit!'' The toad screamed out in pain.
"You ribbited your last ribbit," I said it coldly while delivering the final punch.
"Few, that could have gone badly. Luckily, my dogs held him down. Now I will have to beat the Orochi.
I made the hand sign for Toad again while shouting "Toad!" but this time he was on my side. I went on top of him to have extra mobility.
"Orochi!"
Then a giant snake came out of the ground underneath me. My Toad jumped a distance away while my dogs attacked the snake that was now exposed.
We repeated the process of my Toad jumping out of the way and my dogs jumping the hell out of the snake till it got tamed.
Now I will have to go for Nue.
"Nue!"
Nue started flying away, but the Orochi came out of the ground and caught Nue between its mouths. Orochi then started lowering itself down to ground level with Nue still in its mouth.
Nue was struggling all the way down and was electrocuting its surroundings. Luckily, Orochi managed to keep Nue stuck between its fangs for long enough for me, my dogs, and Toad to hit it with our attacks and finally tame it.
After that, I tried to do the handsign for Max Elephant but felt that it would drain me of my remaining Cursed Energy which was already low from fighting Maki, practicing Simple Domain and most of all from repeatedly summoning and taming my Shikigami. If I wanted to, I could summon Max Elephant, but I would have to tame it without my Shikigami and Cursed Energy. Not the best circumstances.
'I've done enough for today. I should rest and train with my new Shikigami tomorrow.'

I wake up due to my attendant shaking me awake. She says to me that the Clan Head, Naobito Zenin, needs me to meet him as soon as possible at the Inner Ring of the Household.
'Man, what would he even want with me? Is it because I tried to enter the Armory yesterday or stole the Manual?' I wondered silently.
I come out of my messy bed, quickly brush my teeth, and wash my face. I put on some clean clothes and shoes and finally started to head towards the inner ring of the household with my attendant 3 feet behind me. It still felt a bit weird to have someone behind me as they could attack my exposed back, but it would keep me on my toes as a sneak attack could happen anytime from nowhere. Bush campers like Toji and Yuta come to mind.
I arrive at the Inner Ring of the Household and see two people standing in the middle of the field.
On one side, there was a man with mid-length, grey hair that was slicked back to reach just behind his neck. He has small black eyes with long eyebrows with thick edges. He also has a weird moustache that extends beyond both sides of his cheeks. This was Naobito Zenin, the current head of the Zenin Clan.
On the other side was a tall young man with a fit build. He has sharp brown eyes and dyed blonde hair, accented with his dark green roots. He also has three piercings in his left ear, one in his ear lobe, and two more toward the top. I could see his arrogant grin plastered across his face turn into a frown when he noticed me examining him and looking for weaknesses. He was Naoya, the strongest misogynist.
"May I ask why I was summoned here, Clan Head?" I say it with the bare minimum amount of respect.
Naobito just laughs and waves at me to get closer.
His face changes from the most dopey expression into the most serious one I've ever seen.
He tells me, "Our great Clan and the other ones have a tradition of sorts. Every generation, we will have the chosen heirs of each clan fight against another. In a friendly spar."
I raise my eyebrow at him because I've never heard of this in the canon story.
"You're probably wondering what the problem is, am I right? Well, you see, you and Naoya are both potential applicants for the Clan Heir Brawl. Seeing as Naoya is my son, who has inherited my Innate Technique, and you, Megumi, who has inherited the Ten Shadows Technique,
"Normally, I would pick you immediately, because showing off our prized Cursed Technique is what the whole brawl is about. Putting the Inherited Cursed Techniques against one another to see which one is the undisputed best."
'Huh, so it's just a dick-measuring contest between the Clans.' I thought while still listening.
"Sadly, you are too young. This brawl will take place in three years, and the other heirs will be Gojo Satoru, who is 13 years older, and Kamo Noritoshi, who is 2 years older than you. We're not too worried about you losing to Kamo's bastard child, but Gojo Satoru is completely out of your league. We don't want to embarrass our Clan by you losing very badly against him. Naoya would have a better chance, as he's just been recognized as a Special Grade 1 Sorcerer."
I absorb what he's saying, but one thing still lingers in my mind.
"Why are you telling me all this if you're not going to pick me to fight them?"
"Impatient one, aren't you? I'm going to make you fight against Naoya for the position in the brawl."
