Chapter 4: Quirks
Last night she made an excuse that she couldn't sleep and asked Lu Zhaohe for a glass of red wine. After they finished drinking, they started intermittently for several hours. She didn't remember the exact end time but estimated it was around the time the person mentioned.
Once this was said, the atmosphere at the table changed.
Jiang Lin said in surprise, "I always thought my little uncle didn't like women, so I never dared to get too close to him all these years."
He was smart, speaking in a way that defended Lu Zhaohe. It forcefully washed away the matter of him having women and also explained the reason for his distant relationship with Lu Zhaohe.
Lu Zhaohe placed his teacup on the table without any force, and with a hint of a smile, he replied, "I indeed don't like women. They cost money."
He deliberately dragged out the last two words and swept a narrow, scrutinizing glance at Jiang Lin's side, briefly brushing over Bai Pu's face.
"Oh? Did you get a woman last night for free?" the guy behind them laughed mischievously.
Lu Zhaohe raised an eyebrow in an undeniable manner. "Strictly speaking, she was the one who got me."
"Oh my." The people around the table fell into a sigh, and everyone couldn't help but start gossiping. "Where did the woman come from? How did she get you? What's her appearance like?"
Lu Zhaohe ignored all the questions.
Until someone asked, "Since it was for free, can you introduce her to us, brothers? It's been a long time since we had any fun."
Bai Pu choked on her tea and started coughing.
Lu Zhaohe threw the dish he was about to pick up into the bone plate before it even landed in the bowl. He raised his eyelids casually and answered, "This dish tastes mediocre. I'll take you to a better place another day."
Although it seemed like he was commenting on the dish, everyone could hear the underlying meaning in his words.
Was he disgusted by her taste? But he was so indulgent with it last night.
Jiang Lin jokingly added with a smile, "You spent hours on something with bad taste. If it had been good, would you have booked a whole night?"
Even when he was joking, he didn't forget to put his arm around Bai Pu's shoulder, completely unaware that he was making a joke about the person in his arms.
Lu Zhaohe showed no intention of continuing this topic and coldly scanned the surroundings. "Are you eating or not? If not, then get lost."
Bai Pu felt extremely uncomfortable, so she opened Jiang Lin's arm and stood up. "I'll go to the restroom."
After leaving the private room, Bai Pu finally felt relieved. If she stayed there any longer, she would have suffocated.
She went to the restroom while picking up her phone and sent a message to her best friend, Xu Xiaoran, briefly describing her speechless experience of sitting with a group of men with no underwear at the table.
Xu Xiaoran was probably busy and didn't reply immediately.
Bai Pu added a voice message, "Do you think it's possible that Lu Zhaohe has some special quirks, like collecting women's underwear as a hobby? Otherwise, in such a small place, why can't I find mine?"
Just as she sent it, Xu Xiaoran's message came back, "I think you should go buy an underwear first."
"..." Bai Pu had a sudden realization.
She turned off her phone and headed outside. The restaurant where they were dining happened to be located in a shopping mall, so there should be a place to buy underwear.
However, as soon as she left the restroom, she saw Lu Zhaohe leaning against the railing at the entrance, casually smoking with a black and white outfit.
The massive crystal chandelier illuminated him, making his already well-proportioned figure even more dazzling.
She wanted to hide, but Lu Zhaohe happened to see her.
This time his gaze didn't intend to move away. He kept looking at her as if waiting for her to come and greet him.
Bai Pu raised her lips, gathered her courage, and walked up to him, smiling. "What a coincidence, little uncle is also smoking."
Only after saying it did she realize what nonsense she just spoke. What did she mean by "also"?
Lu Zhaohe's calm eyes showed a hint of interest. "No coincidence, I was waiting for you."
Bai Pu was stunned. "Waiting for me? For what?"
Lu Zhaohe extinguished the cigarette with his bare hands and accurately flicked it into the trash can opposite. With his hands in his pockets, he stood in front of her, looking down at her from a high vantage point. "Why are you still wearing last night's clothes?"
She already guessed he would ask this. Bai Pu pretended to be wronged and pouted. "What else can I do? I left my room card in your room, so I can't go back to change clothes."
Lu Zhaohe's gaze narrowed slightly. "So?"
He gestured towards Bai Pu's legs with his chin. "Is that your reason for going out without wearing anything underneath?"
