Ren could feel his system shouting something...warnings, perhaps, but he couldn't make out the words

It felt as if even his system wanted to abandon him, to cast him aside as a lost cause. A harbinger of bad luck.

He recalled how Zenith had pampered Terim and how Mira was always supportive of her stubborn son.

'Don't. Don't laugh like that, Ren. You are scaring me,' the little god pleaded, its voice trembling with fear.

Yet Ren's ears remained deaf to its plea. His mind was getting consumed by a sinister thought.

If I were a Polaris and not a dirty-blooded Vitakis, would I be living a happy life? Would my two mothers pamper me just as much as they did Terim, or would I still be abandoned?

'Ren! Breathe properly!' the little god's voice tried to break through his spiraling thoughts but failed miserably.
