Chapter 4: First Mission

Ren's senses sharpened with each passing moment, and the indistinct voices evolved into clear conversations.

The first experience of Ren's new world was cold.

Why is the bench this cold?

It appears to be made of some metal. No wonder Ren's butt was freezing.

What about others?

Ren's system was nowhere to be seen or heard.

A fresh taste of clean grassy air lingered at the tip of his nose. The oxygen pumped inside his lungs filled his insides with the thrill to see things once again

As he blinked at the equally cut tiny sprouts of grass from the bench he was sitting, his attention was grabbed by a pair of shiny black shoes in front of him.

"You probably couldn't have thought that I, Win Xander, would actually like a mute freak like you?"

Ren could tell that the owner of these shoes was Win, and the two people surrounding him were Lifra and Zery.

Why are you guys standing while I am freezing on this bench? Is this a distortion of morality or a degradation of human behavior?

System who just stabilized the connection,"...." Why is its host more worried about the cold than the upcoming situation?

Without wasting any codes on his host's thinking process, the system issued his first task.

"Mr. Ren Jiang, your first task is to stabilize the situation so that it will not cause any trouble in the future. Please proceed according to your understanding of the plot. I'll return to your side in a few hours. Goodbye."

Ren "...." Is it only me, or did that cute system who begged me to sign with it actually ditch me on my first mission?

"Hey! You can't be crying ...right?"

Ren's hands, still clutching his head moments ago, now found their way to his lap.

His hands appeared similar to his previous ones, a little too soft for his liking. But for now, he was content with the fact that his fingers were long enough.

His hands will be again calloused when he gets back to work as an architect. The mere notion of returning to his line of work brought him utter joy and passion.

"Let him be. How can a nobody like you dare to dream about our prince Wi-...."

Lifra's remark brought Ren's wandering mind back to the present situation.

After a slight pause, he lifted his hoodie over his head.

The sudden onslaught of sharp rays compelled him to shut his eyes tightly once more. He blinked them a few times to get used to the light and wondered where that cutie system of his went.

Today marked the day of victory for Win.

In the heat of the moment, Win's excitement danced like wildfire, fueled by the will to prove himself worthy of Sabrina. Each orchestrated move unfolded seamlessly, a result of his meticulous planning.

Everything was proceeding as expected. Not that there was any doubt in the first place. Because that stupid nerd, Dorian, truly fell for him. How laughable.

For this unique event, Lifra even created an online live-streaming window.

There were a few students who followed Win and his mates to the park.

Meanwhile, others were watching the live broadcast, thanks to the service of a shiny round black body.

A black recording camera, the size of a pinky finger pad hovered above Lifra's head, trailing her like a child following its mother.

Win's mind started thinking of more degrading words to shout at the nerd. Taunting Dorian was like adding fuel to the flames of his euphoria.

Win's heart relished in the anticipated reaction, the anticipated victory. He waited for nerd to shout, break or maybe to question him. Win prepared all the answers to How, Why, What, and everything else.

However, the supposedly prepared questions never reached his ears. What appeared was something he had never imagined.

As that loathsome hoodie disappeared, the nerd's face became the sole focus of everyone.

His features were a stark contrast from Win's expectations... from anyone's expectations.

Win's handsome face boasted a sun-kissed complexion earned on the field of competition. One, he was born like this due to the blessings of his father, and second, he was always under direct sunlight, playing in the Mecha field with his buddies.

However, Dorion's face was as white as milk. His skin glowed with an ethereal luminescence as if sculpted from moonlight itself.

A face so tender that it might turn red even after a slight pinch. Moist pink lips reminded Win of his favorite delicious candy.

Those silvery white strands of hair flew in the air, and Win wondered about the length hidden in that hoodie.

Yet, that was not what rendered him speechless.

Dorian possessed golden eyes like a shining sun. The swirling water inside those eyes looked like molted gold. Those twin orbs of liquid gold shimmered with an otherworldly radiance. Each blink of those silver curly eyelashes was a fleeting glimpse into a realm beyond, a realm where angels tread.

And indeed, Dorian bore a resemblance to those celestial beings. The divine beings he read in his 'Religions and Beliefs' class.

At that moment, Win couldn't help but feel a twinge of guilt at deceiving him amidst his astonishment.

Win was not the only one speechless by the sudden turn of events. All the live viewers inside the school felt the same astonishment.

If it was not enough, the said angel looked at Win with those shimmering eyes and smiled.

Win's heart stopped then and there.

In Win's ears, a melody of words, gentle and pure, an angel's whisper, danced softly, "Win... everything aside, .....I am glad to see you."

Win's dormant heart stirred to life, once again, pulsating with a fervor that rivaled the velocity of the super-fast M'uxmart, which uses its magnetic levitation to compress a three-hour earthly voyage into a mere fifteen minutes.

Ren's heart brimmed with anticipation, and true to his expectations, the visage of the male lead did not disappoint.

Win's platinum blonde locks cascaded to his ears, adorned with delicate azure earrings. His dusky complexion, paired with his sharp, attentive gaze and commanding features, bestowed on him an air of authority.

Were it not for the undeniable fact that this was the face of the male lead, Ren would have been tempted to forge a friendship with such a handsome young kid.

Ah, indeed! To Ren, this schoolboy, appearing scarcely eighteen, was naught but a child. Dealing with a child seemed far simpler than the prospective Big Boss.

Lifra, a striking girl with hair the hue of violets and eyes to match, caught Ren's attention as she gazed at him with her mouth slightly agape.

Ren couldn't help but wonder if something was wrong with Lifra, especially considering her weird expression. It was filled with disbelief.

Zerry, with his fiery red locks, appeared to be in a similar state of perplexity, his ruby red eyes wide open, seemingly compensating for his closed mouth looking a bit amusing to Ren.

The first thing Ren had to do with the male lead, who was still looking at him with weird facial expressions, was to cut ties completely.

"You can leave, Win. Don't worry, I won't bother you anymore. Goodbye."

To finish everything on a good note, Ren even showed a smile, showing his pearly white teeth and a crescent dent on his left cheek.

It took Win a moment to fully comprehend the words directed at him. Once realization dawned, his feet instinctively carried him in the direction of the school.

As if drawn by an unseen force, everyone trailed after Win, leaving Ren sitting on the metallic bench alone in the park.

Win's sudden departure caught Ren off guard, surprising him with the ease at which Win seemed to agree. Ren was ready to read the two-hundred-word essay, he thought in his mind to sway Win, and Win left.

Just like that? Are kids this obedient these days?

If system was here, it would surely enlighten Ren about the effective ways to use beauty.

Well, let bygones be bygones. Anyway, it was a good thing for him.

Ren let his body rest against the now warm metallic bench.

The characters in this book, or should he say the people of his new world, are all so damn good-looking! How is he supposed to survive with his normal face?

Forget about the anime-like characters, even the trees, standing tall and proud, and the extra greeny-grassy-grass beneath his feet beckoned Ren with a compelling allure, tempting him to fix his gaze upon them. And so, that's precisely what Ren did.

He settled in, allowing his eyes to wander, fixating on the cotton candy clouds lazily drifting overhead, and on the weird-shaped sky touching buildings.

It was then that he noticed the delicate, swaying white strands, only to realize with a start that it was his own hair.

Ren, "..." Why was it that when others underwent transmigration, they emerged as stunningly attractive, super-strong beings, while he found himself transformed into a young grandpa?

His slender arms and waist, a carbon copy of his previous life's physique, dashed any lingering hopes of morphing into a heroic warrior.

Rummi will definitely bite his ears off by shouting to take all the precautions against white hair. What will Fu Xian do?

He surely wouldn't let him eat anything without supervision ever again, and his grandma would scold him for not taking care of himself properly.

But he can never see them again.

Ah, his grandma would surely fare better without the weight of his burden, he reasoned. Yet, the persistent throbbing in his chest, ignored for so long, suddenly surged with intensity.

Hastily pulling the hoodie cap over his head once more, he draped his right arm across his covered eyes, offering silent prayers for his grandma's well-being, and apologies for not being a good grandson.

At least she would not have to worry about financial problems. The more he tried to reason with himself, the more his heart ached. Those unshed tears finally achieved their freedom from their cage and began to trace a wet trail down his cheek, disappearing into the fabric of his shirt.

He did not shout, nor did he wail. Yet, once in a while, his body shook with such a tremor that it became hard to hide the enormous amount of pain he was going through. His silent sobs kept him accompanied from that afternoon till night.

When Goodwill Operating Web Domanian System appeared in his first mission world, It found its host with a feverish hue over his delicate face and swollen eyes.
