Chapter 7: Chapter Seven
What are you doing here?" Grey barked angrily looking down at her small frame. "I'm s-sorry" she muttered looking down. "I was just about to_"
"I'm so sorry sir" Evan interrupted running in. "I sent her to drop the files for today's meeting in your office"
Grey looked at the girl whose head was still bent down in fright and back at Evan. "You sent a total stranger into my office??" He questioned again but this time directed towards Evan while Bella took that as a cue to leave.
"I'm really sorry again" she bowed before running out of the door. She was genuinely terrified to offend him.
As soon as the door closed Grey looked back at Evan. "I want a full background check on her. Find out everything about her down to the color of her 6th birthday dress" Grey instructed walking towards his desk while Evan just stood there perplexed by Grey's change in couternance.
"Do you understand me?" Grey question again now fully seated. "Y-yes sir" Evan bowed before joining Bella out the door.
"I told you so" Katrina said with a scoff as she unwrapped her lollipop, shoving it into her mouth.
"He's so scary" Bella whispered back in response, making Katrina let out a small laugh.
"I think you should go, it's your break time now. Go ahead and get going with your- whatever it is you like to do" Katrina shooed her away and continued clicking on her computer.
"Umm sorry" she said again making Katrina look up at her irritatedly. "Is there a cafeteria in the building? I haven't had breakfast yet"
Katrina let out a loud breath picking up the company phone. "Please send Mr Kelvin upstairs to the fifteenth floor asap" she said into its speakers before slamming it down completely ignoring Bella.
Bella let out a sad smile before walking towards the couch, sitting down next to her bag. She picked up her bag arranging its contents when Evan stood In front of her.
"I'm so sorry" Bella apologized with a small smile, while Evan Just shrugged it off.
"I'm used to it anyway" he replied handing her file back to her, and an employee tag that was customized for all employees of J &C
"See you tomorrow" he said patting her shoulder before strolling off Into his office.
"He's definitely mad at me" she mumbled, standing up just as the elevator doors hinged open. A tall brown haired man in his late 20's walked out smiling from cheek to cheek.
"Hey Kat. I heard you needed me" he said walking towards Katrina before blowing a kiss earning a disgusted look from her.
"I honestly don't know how you got to work here" Katrina replied making Bella break out into a smile. "Here" she continued pointing at Bella. "She's yours now, give her a full tour of the building"
Kelvin looked back at shy Bella who was clutching on the strap of her bag that was dangling from her shoulder.
"Hi I'm Kelvin" he introduced with a broad smile.
"Hi I'm Bella" she responded studying him.
"It's okay, I'm chill" he assured noticing her hesitation.
"Yeah he's dumb but safe" Katrina said again and Bella laughed nodding as she put her tag around her neck.
"Let's go" Bella nudged and kelvin took her hand leading her towards the elevator. As they stood there hand in hand, Grey came out of his office in full glory in just enough time to catch the scene.
He stared at the duo making Bella shudder before the doors finally closed. "So, when did you start working here?" Kelvin asked with a bright smile.
"Today" she responded and he looked at her surprised.
"Today, and you already work on Grey's floor? Took me three years to even be allowed to deliver a file up here" he replied smiling as the elevator descended. "You're going to love it here anyways. So far you don't do anything to annoy Mr Grey" he added.
"You're making me genuinely scared" she replied with a small laugh. "But thank you for the tip" she said as the door opened to the 10th floor.
"This is my floor. I work here as an accountant. Well assistant technically" he said, ushering her out.
"I wouldn't have guessed" she commented looking up at him. "I was thinking more of ad or something"
"Katrina has rubbed off on you already" he laughed, leading her to his office. "This is my office, and this is the lead accountants office" he pointed to a door con-joining his own.
"Nice" Bella replied simply looking back at the hallways.
"Why do I feel like you're not enjoying this?" Kelvin asked, noticing her lack of interest.
"N-no I am. I'm just super hungry" she replied, clutching her stomach. "Can we go eat and do the tour later?"
"Yeah sure" Kelvin replied, ushering her out and closing the door behind her. "This way"
He led her back into the elevator and pressed on the glowing "number one" just as the door closed. It took longer for them to get to the ground floor and pretty soon they were bursting out of the elevator.
Bella looked around at how busy the ground floor was. "Is it always this rowdy?" She asked with a smile.
"No! But it's lunch time, and the cafeteria is...here" he replied taking her to a pair of double doors pushing it open. The pair walked in immediately catching the eye of everybody in the room.
Bella shuddered and started to feel out of place. The women here all looked sophisticated and classy, and she looked..well plain.
"Hey Casey" Kelvin called out and a tall brunette woman turned around to face them. "Meet my new friend, Brian_"
"Bella" Bella interrupted with a small smile realizing kelvin had forgotten her name.
"Yeah Bella" he said, clicking his tongue. "She just started working here today"
"Oh hi" the girl greeted genuinely and Bella was ecstatic. She was the only female in this room not giving her the evil eyes right now. "I'm Casey nice to meet you"
"Bella" she restated smiling as she took the hand Casey had stretched out to her. "Nice to meet you"
"Same here"
Kelvin was about to say something when Bella's phone buzzed in her bag. "Oh excuse me" she said to the duo as she put the phone to her ears. "Hello"
"It's me Katrina" the person on the other side sighed. "I dont know what the fuck you did inside of Grey's office but you're needed now!"
"I-I- didn't do anything" Bella breathed with a shaky voice. "Just come upstairs now. He wants to see you"
"O-okay" she replied dropping the call and striding towards the exit. What had she done?
