Chapter 2: Chapter 2. Bureaucrats, officials and other worthy demons

"So, summarizing everything I said earlier, I want to say the following..." I made a report at the makeshift headquarters. The "headquarters" itself was a gathering of nathrezim gathered on a mountain scorched by hellish fire. That's for sure - a gathering of evil spirits on Bald Mountain! "I don't trust Ner'zhul. I don't trust Arthas. And the local aborigines can cause us a lot of trouble.

-Are you a coward, Mephistoroth? – Balnazar was feignedly amazed.

 – Do you really believe in this? – I responded. I don't know when the line between my personality and the Nathrezim's personality disappeared, it passed by my consciousness. But at one truly wonderful moment, Mephistoroth stopped snapping at the jokes of his "brothers," who were pretty amused by the fact that I had exchanged a warm place in Draenor for a war in Azeroth.

 - I judge by your actions.

"Okay," I sighed. – Let's go over the above again.

 - Hooves? – Varimathas grinned.

"Preferably with a clear mind," I continued, not paying attention to the teasing. "So, the plan to attract Arthas, carried out by Kel'Thuzad on the orders of Ner'zhul, almost cost our brother Malganus his life. And it cost him his career - Ner'zhul managed to use him as some kind of pawn, and where his spirit is now is unknown.

Further. Arthas is a warrior of outstanding ability, that much is clear. And why does such a talented general, who managed to defeat Malganus with extremely limited forces, attack directly, without any tactics or tricks, crushing the enemy with the number of troops and their survivability? The Scourge's losses are enormous! Even the Legion could not support such an offensive so much. Before this, Arthas turned an entire country into undead. So why is he ruining such gigantic reserves? Maybe he understands that this army will soon no longer be his personal?

Now about the company's plan. So we resurrect Kel'Thuzad, he helps summon Lord Archimonde, and everyone is happy. Except for Ner'zhul, of course. And why did we decide that this frozen pile of bones would not risk deceiving us a second time?

"We understand," Tikondrus interrupted my effusion. - Your suggestions?

– Appoint nathrezim to key positions of Scourge commanders. Since we are going to fight with this particular army, we must control it.

 – This... these perversions of magic? – Balnazar responded contemptuously. – Managing it through proxies is all right. But personally... to lead these idiots into battle... Are you sure we'll cut it, Mephistoroth?

My merger with the demon did not pass without a trace. His abilities, skills, knowledge and even personal courage merged with my consciousness, but now I was certainly not sober. And it wasn't just a matter of afterthought. In my very attitude to life, I was very different from the ruthless and treacherous Lords of Terror. On the other hand, even my admittedly very smart "brothers" could turn a blind eye to the facts that were obvious to me if they somehow ran counter to their self-conceit. And for the eminence grise, any sin is permissible (as for a statesman, of course, and not as for a clergyman) - except pride.

The Nathrezim did not want to listen to me, although I told them the exact future. At that moment I understood why a military disaster occurred under Mount Hyjal.

Having merged with the demon, I (now I did not distinguish myself from Mephistoroth) ceased to be a fanatic of the Legion, but still considered this side to be mine, dear. And as a gamer in a past life, I considered the undead to be my own. After all, the demonic hordes in The Frozen Throne did not allow the Nathrezim hero to command.

"Wait, Balnazzar," Ticondrus intervened, curling his lips in a grin. – Our brother Mephistoroth has the right to his opinion. This means that he will fulfill his proposal. You wanted to command the undead, Mephistoroth. I will give you this opportunity. You will go to the border with Quel'Thalas, build a Scourge outpost there, and at the same time keep an eye on Arthas. Congratulations, General.

The last words sounded frankly mocking. What. It was not possible to help the Legion. There is only one thing left - to help yourself
