Chapter 13: Chapter 13: Another mission
After we returned to the village, I convinced the hokage to let Haku stay, then had to persuade my dad to give Haku a room. It took some effort, but I managed to corner him into agreeing, though he insisted Haku couldn't stay in the Hyuga compound. Instead, he offered to give us money every month for a small apartment and some food for a while till he figures out how to get money.
I introduced Haku to Hinata and Hanabi, who seemed to have taking a liking to him. After showing Haku his new home, I gave him a tour of the village. Later, we went shopping. Bought groceries and headed back to the apartment. Before I left, Haku said, "If your ever in trouble I'll be there to help you."
I smiled saying, "Thanks!"
A few days later I opened the door entering the hokage's office as I said, "You asked to see me lord mon-" before stopping halfway as I noticed Shikamaru in the room.
I paused before saying, "Oh hey Shikamaru, what are you doing here?"
"Hey I'm here too!" someone suddenly exclaimed.
I turned towards the source before turning my attention back to Shikamaru as I asked, "where you also called here?"
Shikamaru nodded as he said, "Yeah for a mission."
"Then where's Choji?" I asked, looking around.
"Apparently he's not going on this mission with us, someone else is. Which I'm guessing is you."
I suddenly tilted my head to the side dogging a punch from behind, before grabbing the person's hand and flipping them over my shoulder.
The person landed flat on there back as I smiled looking down at them saying, "Oh hey Ino, did you need something."
Ino was fuming but before she could say anything lord third cleared his throat saying, "If I may, the three of you are going to go on a B rank mission."
Ino suddenly exclaimed saying, "A B-rank mission?! Isn't that to hard for us we barely have any experience."
Lord third smiled saying, "I'm sure you'll be fine, I just need you to collect some information on a group of rogue ninjas who have set up base in a mine, and then I want you to destroy the base enough to delay there plans. Your main priority is surviving. There are no Jonin available to accompany you on this mission so instead-"
There was a knock on the door as the Hokage said, "Entre."
A 13 year old girl with dark brown hair tied in two buns, dark brown eyes, wearing a pink sleeveless blouse and dark green pants walked in.
The hokage continued as he said, "This is Tenten, a genin and she'll be your team captain. That's all."
We all nodded leaving the hokage office.
Just as we exited Tenten turned to us as she said, "We live at sunset. Make sure to get everything you need ready before then." before leaving.
Ino's face paled hearing all this before she suddenly fainted.
Shikamaru caught her as he mumbled, "This is such a drag." before glancing at me.
I sighed before helping him carry Ino to a bench.
I looked at Ino who was laying on a bench as I asked, "So what do we do now?"
Shikamaru paused before saying, "We don't have time to wait for her to wake up since we need to get ready for the mission, so let's wake her u-"
Before Shikamaru could finish I drenched Ino in water using a hose.
She suddenly jolted up and seeing me with the hose glared at me as she exclaimed, "Hinoka!"
I grinned saying, "Oh your finally awake, Ino. I was just trying to help, you where passed out and I didn't want you to not have enough time to prepare for the mission."
"So you drenched me in water?!"
I smilled saying, "Yep."
Before she could reply I waved at Shikamaru saying, "I'll leave you to deal with the rest." Before leaving.
I arrived at Naruto's house knocking on the door but no one answered.
I sighed as I thought, "Where could he be?" When I heard Naruto's voice from behind.
I turned around seeing Naruto with a large smile on his face as usual as he asked, "Hey Hinoka, what's wrong."
I smiled as I said, "I'm going on a B-rank mission with Shikamaru, Tenten and Ino. Just wanted to let you know."
"That's so cool! Just you wait when you come back I'm going to be even stronger!" he exclaimed.
I smilled flicking his forhead as I said, "I can't wait to see how much stronger you get." Before leaving.
I walked up to where Sasuke normally trained as I exclaimed, "Hey Sasuke!"
Sasuke turned towards me as he said, "Hinoka? Is something wrong?" glancing at a small opened bag on the floor.
I grinned saying, "Nah just wanted to tell you I'm going on a B-rank mission. It may take a while."
"Oh, good luck." I noticed Sasuke glance at a bag again.
I turned my attention to the bag, noticing something glinting as I mumbled, "Thanks." Before asking, "Hey, what's in that bag over there?"
Sasuke tensed up before saying, "It's nothing."
"But you kept glancing at it. Oh do you not want me to see what's inside? Don't tell me it's a gift for someone."
Sasuke froze and I grinned as I said, "It totally is! Does the too cool to pay attention to any girl, Sasuke have on a crush on someone?"
Sasuke lightly blushed and now my interest was peaked, I had to see what was inside that bag.
As if noticing what I was thinking Sasuke ran towards the bag quicker than I could.
Just as he was about to grab it I threw a kunai that was connected to a string at it.
It hit the bag and I pulled the string to bring the bag towards me. But just as I caught it, I suddenly blocked a punch from Sasuke.
Sasuke continued attacking me using Taijutsu while I blocked each of his attacks.
After a while Sasuke finally got the bag back and we both jumped back panting when I grinned asking, "Is it something so embarrassing you'd fight me so I don't see it?"
Sasuke hesitated as he said, "It's…"
Suddenly something fell from the bag. I looked at it as I mumbled, "A necklace?"
Sasuke sighed, picking it up before handing it to me. I looked at the necklace more closely. It had the Uchiha crest.
I paused before grinning as I tauntingly asked, "So who are you giving it to? Sakura?"
Sasuke faced the other direction as he mumbled, "No. It's for you, idiot. For your birthday."
I was taken off guard hearing that before saying, "Oh, thanks. But my birthday isn't for like half a year."
"It was for your last birthday but I didn't get the chance to give it to you. I was going to give it to you later."
I suddenly laughed as I asked, "You kept it for this long."
Sasuke looked embarrassed before saying, "Make sure to come back alive."
I forced myself to keep composure as I said, "Who do you think I am? A B rank mission couldn't kill me. I'll definitely come back alive!"
Sasuke had the slightest smile as he said, "I'll hold you to your word." before leaving.
As soon as he left I sighed in relief that he didn't turn around.
I was smiling like a little kid who's crush said hi to them in the morning.
For some reason him saying the necklace was for me made my heart skip a beat and I felt extremely happy.
