"Yeah, I'm back. This is my friend from Hogwarts, Irina Lowell," Lynn introduced the girl behind him to his mother.
Irina stepped forward and greeted politely, "Hello Auntie, I'm Lynn's friend. Since I have nowhere to stay during the Christmas holidays from Hogwarts, Lynn brought me here. I've been imposing on you these past few days."
Rowena nodded slightly, then asked tentatively, "Welcome. But are you two just regular friends or boyfriend and girlfriend?"
Hearing Rowena's words, Irina's pretty face immediately turned red, feeling a bit flustered.
Finally, it was Lynn who answered, "Just regular friends for now."
Rowena caught the keyword 'for now' sharply. She gave the two of them a suggestive glance, then told Lynn to show Irina to her room.
"There are still many vacant rooms on the third floor. Follow me."
Aside from the top floor, Rowle Manor had a total of five floors. The first floor consisted of the kitchen, dining room, and living room. The second floor was where Lynn, Rowena, and the late Henderly resided.
The third floor of the manor had four or five empty rooms, two of which were vacant bedrooms that could be prepared for guests after some cleaning.
The fourth floor served as a small library and artifact collection room, housing books and other treasures.
As for the fifth floor, Lynn was uncertain about its purpose because the staircase leading up to it was sealed by an ancient magic. Lynn currently lacked the ability to break through this enchantment. When he asked Rowena about the fifth floor, she avoided the topic.
However, Lynn could access the top floor of the manor through a separate spiral staircase. So apart from the restricted fifth floor, he could go anywhere else in Rowle Manor.
Irina followed Lynn to one of the guest rooms on the third floor, surveying everything inside.
The room had a warm LED light installed on the ceiling, which Lynn had clearly brought back from the Muggle world.
The bed wasn't large, about the same size as the ones in Irina's university dorm room from her previous life. There was a vanity table in the northwest corner, and the western wall was lined with empty cabinets for storing belongings.
Additionally, the room had an en-suite bathroom, much to Irina's satisfaction.
"Scourgify," Lynn waved his wand, and the previously dust-covered room became spotlessly clean, looking brand new.
Initially feeling a bit restrained upon arriving at the manor, Irina finally relaxed after settling into her room and unpacking her luggage.
For some reason, she felt inexplicably nervous after seeing Lynn's mother earlier.
"Where's the big, comfy bed you promised? This small bed isn't that big," Irina joked.
The corners of Lynn's mouth curved up slightly. "This is just a guest room. The bed in my room is indeed quite large. Do you want to come sleep in my big bed together?"
"Tsk, you're really pushing your luck!" Irina retorted playfully.
"Hey, aren't you the one who wanted a bigger bed?"
"You little rascal! Can't you behave yourself?"
...
The next morning, Irina woke up in the room Lynn had arranged for her and noticed the Christmas presents piled on the floor.
Since she didn't stay at Hogwarts Castle this Christmas, the owls that could automatically track a wizard's location had delivered her gifts to Rowle Manor instead. The house-elf Gale had thoughtfully brought the presents into her room.
Of course, the first thing to do after waking up on Christmas morning is to open presents. Irina happily unwrapped each gift one by one.
This year, the Christmas presents Irina received were largely similar to last year's. However, due to her and Lynn's feat of defeating Voldemort's remnant last year, many young witches and wizards she didn't even know had sent her gifts, mostly consisting of sweets she liked and small trinkets.
But this time, instead of stashing away all the sweets like before, Irina lightly sniffed them and sorted them into different categories.
Any sweets that had a potion scent or an aroma inconsistent with the food itself were immediately discarded by Irina.
Who knew if some deranged upperclassman or underclassman had slipped a love potion into the gifts meant for her? Accidentally consuming food laced with a love potion would be disastrous. Ron's experience in the original story served as a cautionary tale.
Regardless of whether the potions were benign or not, Irina didn't dare try any food that smelled like potions. As for those with aromas mismatched to the food itself, they were highly likely to contain love potions, since anyone who smelled a love potion would detect their favorite scent.
Although Irina didn't know what her favorite scent was, if it didn't match the food, she would simply discard it.
After all, a milk cake shouldn't smell like something burnt, right?
Apart from these more ordinary gifts, the Christmas present Lynn gave her made her eyes light up.
It was a magical plant bag crafted through alchemy. This magical plant bag appeared to be an ordinary sling bag, but according to Lynn's instructions, it contained a special extra-dimensional space for growing magical plants.
Once planted in the magical plant bag, the magical plants could automatically absorb magical energy and convert it into nutrients for growth, even bypassing the photosynthesis process.
In other words, as long as Irina planted the seeds inside the magical plant bag, she could carry these magical plants with her at all times. During battles, she could simply retrieve and toss them out from the bag.
The magical plant bag could hold around ten magical plants.
Irina was delighted by this magical plant bag.
After finishing opening her Christmas gifts, Irina left her room and went downstairs to the dining room.
By this time, Lynn's mother had apparently already finished her breakfast and gone for a stroll in the manor grounds, while Lynn was leisurely cutting into a steak.
"You're here? There, that's your breakfast," Lynn casually pointed to another plate at the other end of the dining table.
On the plate was a thick cut of steak, two slices of bread, and a small portion of salad, with a steaming cup of milk beside it.
Seeing this hearty breakfast, Irina thanked him delightedly and began to enjoy her meal.
After Irina finished eating, Lynn stood up and said, "Let's go to Knockturn Alley."
"Mm-hmm!" Irina promptly followed him, looking quite happy.
