"I didn't mean to cause that. Besides, they're lazy about their duty." Li Chen earnestly replied, though his tone remained neutral.

"Lazy?" Fairy Mo Xueyi's well-carved brows slanted.

Li Chen tilted his head toward her, revealing a bit of his side profile. "Aren't most of us lazy?" 

Fairy Mo Xueyi's eyes gleamed as she remembered a time when she spent an entire year watching mortals age. At first, it was enjoyable, but after a year, she grew bored and turned her attention to cultivating.

She had long forgotten this, but Li Chen brought it to her attention. "It's normal to be lazy when you've lived for a thousand years." 

The corners of Li Chen's lips curled up a bit. "And how many mortals did you save from calamities in these thousand long years?" 

He shifted his gaze from Mo Xueyi to Xiu Ying as soon as he noticed her unpleasant expression. Clearly, the number was pitiful.
