The cellphone screen that the owner forgot to lower the brightness level last night greeted her eyes which were not yet 100% open excitedly, "Damn."
In a second, the girl's finger skillfully changed the settings on her cellphone screen. After finally everything can be seen clearly, there was a disappointment. Or maybe she had actually expected it, but there was still a hint of disappointment flashing in her eyes.
Her cellphone screen was only filled with a series of application updates notifications or messages from the operator, just like the previous days, she put the rectangle box down while sighing.
'What did I expect, really.'
Her disappointment doubled over after her hand bring the glass closer to her lips, which she usually filled with water, was now empty.
'Tsk.'
Aruna took the glass out with her, waded through the living room which was still dark and went straight to the kitchen at the very end of the house.
*The sound of falling object*
The sound of falling objects greeted her arrival in the kitchen, she could see a small shadow passing by so quickly, it almost didn't catch her eye.
"You know, ghosts are very active at 3 in the morning."
In contrast to the frightening content of the sentence, the smile on Aruna's face was almost imperceptible, but anyone who managed to see it would definitely think that this girl was mesmerizing a pleasant moment in her life.
*Sigh*
The smile was short-lived, very short, until there was nothing left. It's as if that smile never existed before.
'Just like you and me.'
She continued her mission, namely getting water and walking back to her room.
'Aruna, I swear to God, you have to stop doing all of this bullshit.'
However, the contradiction to her earlier statement which were filled with intention arised, even before going to sleep she still checked her phone screen with the hope as big as a corn kernel, that this person's name would appear this time.
Like a few months ago, where that person's name always greeted her whenever she opened her cellphone.
That person's name always brought a smile to her face, no matter what topic was discussed.
'I really miss you. Don't you miss me? Even it just a little bit?'
*Sigh*
'Who am I talking with?'
Another heavy sigh left her mouth, Aruna threw away her favorite cellphone and then prepared to return to the world of dreams.
Where only in that world, sometimes she could see his face once again.
Only in that world, she can return to his embrace.
Only in that world, her expectations were never betrayed.
It really is beautiful, but at the same time it's also painful. Because, she had to swallow the bitter pill, that it was all just a dream, not reality in the very morning she open her eyes.
"Aruna, don't you want to get up yet?! It's almost half past seven!"
The scream immediately dragged Aruna from her dream world brutally. The girl forgot all her morning routines, (which is: check her phone) and rushed out of bed even though her life had not yet reached 100%.
"Ah! What should I do? I really didn't hear my alarm go off, did I turn it off without realizing it?"
"What alarm? Like you have ever set one."
Aruna's steps immediately halted the moment she heard her mother's voice from the kitchen, "Mom?"
To confirm her doubts, Aruna called her mother once again, forcing her to make a sound.
To make sure that she wasn't still trapped in her beloved dreamland.
However, beyond Aruna's expectations, her mother didn't only just give an answer. But, it comes with a bonus, namely showing her face.
In that instant, the black-haired girl flinched back, almost cursing and screaming.
The reason is, what appeared in front of her eyes was not her mother who always had a sweet expression when preparing breakfast.
"What's wrong?! Why are you acting like that? Did you also see a ghost, too?"
Several seconds have passed, with Aruna stay still in her previous position. She had made several attempts to correct all these oddities, but none of her efforts had borne fruit.
"Mom, I think my eyes has reached a very scary level of minus. You look very young right now, wait, is it possible that my ears are also gone bad, too? What should I do, then? Should I go to optic first, or THT?"
"What are you babbling about since minutes ago? Stop rambling, and quickly take a shower. You're going to be late for school."
"Well, since I woke up late, another 20 minutes additional won't be hurt."
Aruna was still persistently rubbing her eyes several times, which made her realize something for the first time. Her vision is very clear, like watching a video on YouTube with 1080 HD resolution.
The next wave of shock arrived because of this discovery, over the last 5 years, her eyesight had gotten worse and she had become accustomed to seeing everything in a blurry state.
There's no way that in less than a night her vision not only improved, but was like returning to factory settings.
"Aren't you afraid of being punished?"
"Ha ha, very funny, are you trying to be a commedian? Who in this world wants to bother punishing a substitute teacher, just relax~ I'll leave the assignment to another teacher first."
Now it was Aruna's mother's turn to be stunned, looking at her daughter with a strange look for a few seconds. Then, she shouted, "Are you still dreaming? What teacher? Quickly wash your face and wake up. Which teacher is still 12 years old?"
As if a hand had slapped her hard, now Aruna was conscious, as conscious as she could be.
She began to connect the strange dots that had been popping up since this morning, then a conclusion emerged in her cloudy mind.
'Ha ha ha, impossible, right? Haha, no way. I can't possibly go back to the past. I mean, come on. Ah! Maybe it's because I've been reading a lot of transmigration novels lately? It must be because of that! Now I have strange dreams like this.'
"Don't stand in the way."
One strong push from the person behind her immediately broke the sedative's conclusion.
Aruna hissed in pain softly, then started to panic.
"Raveena, don't treat your little sister like that."
The fact that her married older sister now appeared in front of her, with such a young appearance, completely ignored by Aruna. She only focuses on one thing right now.
"Mom, what day is it today, what month and what year?"
"January 7, 2010."
Even though she wasn't sure of the reason why her child suddenly asked this strange questions, the mother still answered.
Horror was now clearly written on her face, younger versions of her family members kept appearing in front of her, the pain she could feel was very real. This series of events made her unable to deny that she was indeed, currently returning to the past.
'Wait, if this is 2010, then that person...'
Just as that thought crossed her mind, a figure that she could never forget, even for a second, even if she wants to, slowly entered her vision radar.
Various feelings mixed together, as if many colors appeared and then began to colluded with each other until they produced one ugly color: Grey.
