Chapter 22: Bad News

Three days of rest was given to her by Mama. She never wanted to go back to work, but she had no choice.

She locked herself in her bedroom and didn't want to eat. She was still thinking about what happened and tried her best to remember everything.

The man from that night had broad shoulders, and firm muscles. When she held his head, his hair was soft but a bit messy. Aside from that, the only thing that she could remember was the pair of wings tattooed on his chest.

"Lia!"

She was startled by Ady's voice. She didn't want anyone to come into her room except for Ady.

"Remember anything aside from his tattoo?" Ady asked because she caught her in deep thought.

She shook her head. "I'm trying."

Ady quietly looked at her with hesitation. She took a deep breath, and then sat beside her.

"Lia, I'm your friend and of course, I care for you. But I'm curious about something. Why do you desperately want to know that man?"

She frowned. "Why do you have to ask?"

"Don't get mad. It's just that when it happened to me, I never wanted to see that man again. Could it be that you actually enjoyed it? Just tell me honestly."

Mia trusted Ady, and she knew that her friend could keep a secret.

She sighed in frustration, and bit her lip. Then tears started to fill her eyes.

"Those men injected something into me. I was drugged so that night I felt like I was being burned into a fire. When that man touched me, it started fading. I asked him to stop because at the back of my mind, it's the right thing to do. But my body responded to his touch. So it's frustrating, Ady. I want to find him because I want to know why he did it. If something precious was taken from you, won't you try looking for it?" She sobbed.

Ady nodded. "I understand so don't worry, I will help you find him." Ady paused, and sighed. "Lia, I have news about Nicholas."

Mia's heart pounded. She gulped as her eyes widened. "What is it?"

"He didn't ask Mama to return the money. I overheard from the other girls that Mama sent someone else."

She frowned. "Someone else? Who?"

"Her name's Alexa. She's a new girl. You were busy so you probably didn't see her coming. She's also a virgin."

She was disappointed, but that's just how it is. She left a mess so someone else had to clean it up for her.

"And that's not the only news." Ady continued.

She had no interest in hearing it, but Ady had to tell her about it because it's about Nicholas.

"Nicholas Hudson is getting married. It's on the news."

She felt like her world suddenly crashed. Her chest started to tighten, that she couldn't breathe. Why did it hurt so much? He was a stranger, a passerby. Someone that had passed into her life, and wasn't meant to stay.

"Breathe, Lia. Breathe." Ady brushed her hand at her back.

Her throat felt like it was swollen and something was blocking inside. Tears pooled her eyes as she started to whimper.

Her body began to tremble. And all Ady could do was to comfort her. When she stopped, Ady lifted her face and looked straight into her eyes.

"Are you in love with Nicholas?"

She didn't answer. She couldn't. How would she answer Ady? She didn't even know her own feelings.

"I–I don't know. My heart aches. Like it was being torn and I couldn't breathe knowing that he had sex with someone else and that he's getting married."

Ady sighed deeply. "You're in love. Don't ever tell him what you feel. It can be used against you. Your innocence was already taken so don't let anyone take your heart. Protect it, Lia. Your feelings won't go anywhere, and you know that."

She agreed with Ady. Maybe she was in love with Nicholas, but he didn't know and he would never know about it. Because he would never love her back.

There were other matters that she had to do than worrying about Nicholas and that was to search for the man who had black wings tattoo.

"Lia, I don't think that man would just come in here and take you. Club Montefalco will be ruined if a girl is taken by force."

"What do you mean?"

"I think Mama knows something because she's too calm. And the fact that there's a vehicle waiting for you outside that day, it means they had a permission from Mama. There's another person behind it. Someone powerful." Ady explained.

Silence filled the room. Mia couldn't think of anyone that has a huge grudge on her. Then two names suddenly popped-out of her mind.

"Do you know someone that hates you enough to pay someone to ruin your life?" Ady asked.

She nodded. "My half-sister, Ruby Grayson, and her mother, Eva Grayson."

"But why? Did you do something to offend them?"

"I don't know. I haven't seen Mrs.Grayson since I was seven. But I met Ruby a year ago and after that I've been experiencing bad things. I accidentally came here because I was suddenly expelled. I overheard the principal, my professor and a woman talking about my expulsion and…yeah, it was all planned. They intend to kick me out."

"Did you see the woman?"

She shook her head. "No. At first, I suspected her as Eva Grayson. But she had no reason to ruin my life. I've been living quietly since I was seven, and didn't tell anyone about my relationship with Harry Grayson because that was our agreement. Why would she waste her time on me?"

Ady sighed. "I wonder too. For now, let's focus on your health. I'll ask the other girls to check their clients if they have the tattoo. Rest and eat well. You need that. Crying and overthinking won't help you recover."
