Chapter 18: C18: Teacher and Student

Whether it was attacking with a sword, poison, or throwing weapons. Even wrapping an explosive talisman around a rock didn't work. Agon had done something like that against an opponent in the manga, though I executed it better.

The Demonic Exorcist stared at me with a friendly smile, expecting an answer.

Do I plan to tame a demon beast? Of course, I do! That's kind of what I'm betting my whole survival on!

I felt Creator would have been a more suitable affinity for me. But Beast Master wasn't bad either. In some cases, Beast Master was the better option. "Yes. Of course I plan to tame a demon. Otherwise, it would be a shame if I was a Beast Master."

The crazy guy nodded in approval. It was strange, I still wasn't sure whether he would kill me. For some reason, I wasn't even that afraid of him anymore.

What's the use of being afraid when I know that there's a zero percent chance of escape? Being afraid wouldn't solve anything. Or this could be some residue from my ability? Or it could be shock? Maybe it was a survival instinct, and my body knew what to do?

"How about I give you one of my tamed demons? There's even a couple high class amongst them." He offered, licking his lips with a perverse smile. "With the demons already broken under my will. You won't even have to fight with your will to try and tame them. They also have some of the best special abilities out there."

A giant centipede with a dark luster exoskeleton burst out of the ground. To show what it could do.

As a high-class demon, its defensive properties were one of the best out there.

If it was anyone else who had offered, I would agree in a heartbeat. After all, a high class demon under my control would put me at almost an Elite level Exorcist.

But the guy offering it had a sketchy smile as if waiting for my answer was the most exciting thing in the world.

Yeah, he will definitely put a tracker or something on the demon he gives me. Still, a high-class demon under my control would guarantee my safety.

But I was on the paranoid side. The Demonic Exorcist wasn't someone who would let me go. There should be some tricks hidden in his questions. "No thanks. I would rather get something on my own."

I also had a plan for my familiar. Accepting this tempting offer would offset my plan.

"Kahahahaha!" The Demonic Exorcist laughed like a madman. Taking his arm and covering his face, as if trying to hide his smile. "Good, good. You at least have some honor as a man. I will be honest. If you had chosen to take one of my beasts I would have killed you."

I knew it! This crazy bastard!

He then put a hand on my shoulder. "You have potential, kid. But I see that you're still too cautious."

Would I have survived against you if I hadn't been cautious? Don't try and play crazy games, you bastard! You killed some of the people I was growing to like!

He was rubbing my shoulder. With that weird smile on his face. Wait... this won't turn into something weird, right? Because I'm 120% into women!

Despite the anxiousness and disgust about to burst from my chest. I kept calm. I knew how the Demonic Exorcist was, he would get bored with something, kill it, and then forget about it by tomorrow. He wouldn't like someone whining.

"Cautiousness is normal. Most Beast Masters are cautious and plan ahead. Since they have weaker bodies. They always must be aware of an enemy going past their demon and aiming straight at them." The Demonic Exorcist shook his head with disappointment. He gave me a comforting pat on my shoulder.

It did not feel comforting! For some reason, I couldn't help but remember the Reddit forums about the weird stuff. The dark jokes, the ones he found funny back then, weren't so funny now. A chill went down my spine. I felt like a leaf fighting against the winter winds.

"But what they don't know is that Ord reacts to the user's thoughts and feelings. Despite planning things. You must have confidence no matter the fight and must always think of yourself as the strongest!" He explained with a strange smirk on his face. Turning toward me, it was clear that the gears in his head were turning as he tried to devise some sinister scheme.

I'm not sure if what he's saying is bullshit or not. Though he did have some merit, Ord could be influenced by feelings. The Ord inside one's body becomes more vicious and violent when they're angry. Though that increased attack power, anger clouded the mind. Strong emotions end up worsening Ord control.

Of course, there were rules to that exception. The main character of this world was one of those exceptions. "I don't think you have the time to train me."

"Who gets a say in that? Now I'm definitely going to train you," his eyes narrowed. As if my words were a challenge to him.

No thanks, please go away. You killed half a dozen of my classmates and two of my favorite teachers. If I had the power, I would kill you.

So stop acting so damn casual!

"It would be an honor to learn from you," of course, I wasn't going to say anything about my real thoughts.

"I feel like you're hiding something from me. I don't know if it's the cold face or that murderous look in your eyes that is showing your real intentions. That's not nice to your new teacher."

"No, no, that's not it at all." I shook my head.

This psycho just took the role of the teachers he killed. Whose students were looking at him from the sidelines with tears in their eyes. He didn't even spare them a look.

"C'mon you can be honest with me. I'm a nice guy. When I was younger, I used my demons to help old ladies carry their groceries," he sighed, there was some strange emotion in his eyes I couldn't read. But that look disappeared as soon as it came. "Do I look like someone who would kill you for something small?"

Yes, you do look like someone who would do that. Actually, you did do that not even ten minutes ago. You decapitated one of my teachers for some bullshit reason, like wanting to make me vengeful or something. Also why the hell did you even attack the students?!

His reason for attacking was never explained in the Manga. But judging by his personality, it wasn't hard to guess. He was trying to look for someone interesting. That's why in the manga, the only students he considered interesting survived.

Still, he might have a Magic Item that lets him differentiate between truths and lies. He did have some rare magic items in the manga too. So lying to him a second time wasn't a good idea. Telling him the truth was just as bad, or even worse. The only choice left for me was to stay quiet.

"Oh well. I'm sure you will one day tell me," he shrugged and walked five steps away from me. "I'm going to teach you some things no exorcist academy would ever teach. Their morals are always holding them back. Ord doesn't have sentience, and it is your energy. But trying to look at Ord from a logical viewpoint was what makes most people weaklings…"

He then went on a rant about exactly what he was preaching about and explained Ord in a logical way.

Talk about a contradictory person. He said one thing and did another. He can't be trusted with anything.

As his rant was coming to an end, his explanation suddenly shifted and his eyes turned ferocious. There was a madness in them that sent a chill down my spine. "Willpower is how Ord is controlled and it reacts to your will. For your Ord to be crazy strong, you must be crazy!!"

What kind of fucked up situation did I get myself into!

At the same time, on the other side of the forest.

Chain stared at the demons surrounding him and his students. They were staring at them like cattle ready for slaughter.

Most of them were middle class, which would've been troublesome by themselves. There were around fifty mid-class demons.

But what worried him the most were three demons standing atop one of the trees. One was a beautiful woman with short dark hair and white flawless skin. The second was a human-sized crow with three red eyes. The last was a humanoid shape clamp of darkness with long claws and dark feet in the shape of a cheetah.

'There's no doubt. The crazy energy they're releasing. Each one of those three is a high class demon.' Chain concluded.

He glanced at his students. They were all pale-faced and scared. If he tried running, Chain knew he had a pretty good chance of coming out of this alive.

Unlike the other teachers, Chain was an Elite Exorcist. At that Rank, it was possible for an Elite Exorcist to go one-on-one with a high class demon and come out on top. After all, Elite Exorcists got sent to deal with the dangers of that rank. So it wasn't wrong to assume that Elite Exorcists were a bit stronger than a high class demon.

But fighting three or even two high class demons was impossible. If an exorcist had the ability to fight many high class demons at once, they would be Special Class exorcists. There were only 22 Special Exorcists in the world.

Maybe running wasn't a bad idea…

But then Chain remembered the times he punished his students, made them exercise when they did something wrong, and their tears of pain.

Yeah, those were the good times...

Now he could only hope that he could come up with something to save his students. Because they would all die here if a battle came to pass.
