Chapter 56: Home

Jack stood with his back straight, almost as if posing for a photograph, completely out of place. One hand was tucked casually into his pocket while the other clutched his phone, his grin widening as he stared at the screen.

Meanwhile, a black car pulled into the apartment complex's parking lot. Samantha, sitting in the driver's seat, noticed Jack first. She narrowed her eyes at him through the windshield, taking in his foolishly grinning face.

"What's gotten into him?" Samantha muttered, then glanced at Lena, who was sitting in the passenger seat beside her.

Lena's gaze followed Samantha's, and when she saw Jack, she also doesn't know, "Maybe something happy happened."

Samantha chuckled. "It would be good after we almost got arrested."

As soon as the two women stepped out of the car, Samantha grabbed and nudged Lena with her elbow. "C'mon, let's go see what's up happy news."
