Chapter 49: The Black Tigers

Christina felt her body heat up at his words. And that infuriatingly hot gaze! A mix of relief and annoyance washed over her at seeing him again. His familiar teasing tone reminded her of the countless times they had bantered back and forth like a real married couple. But she pushed back those feelings, knowing all too well that her treacherous heart was trying to jump into a familiar pit again, even though they had only known each other for a month. 

With a fake smile, she retorted, "Why don't you find another ghost to hug yourself? Oh, Beatrix would love it, considering how she's been receiving your calls unlike me." 

Reylan's smile broadened, having heard how Beatrix had boasted about talking to him over the phone in front of Christina a few days ago. She was indirectly helping him rather than spoiling their relationship, and he made a mental note to ask her to continue doing so.
