Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Can't Kill!
Erza felt a surge of anxiety grip her as she processed the news of the unblocked magic being a mass-killing spell.
The other party was none other than the dark guild, indicating sinister intentions behind their relentless pursuit of such a powerful and horrifying weapon.
If left unchecked, countless innocent lives would be at stake.
Before long, several individuals arrived at the bustling Kuluji Railway Station.
The station was cordoned off by the military, yet amidst the crowd's chatter, fragments of conversation could still be discerned.
"A man wielding a scythe led a group inside."
"It's Erigor!" Erza recognized the weapon Erigor wielded as akin to the scythe of the grim reaper.
"I see! Those individuals are from the nearby Dark Guild!"
"It's Eisenwald!" Lucy exclaimed in surprise.
"I left something more valuable than my own wife on that train."
"What could possibly be more precious than one's spouse?" remarked Kyros with an air of disbelief
The absurdity of the statement left Kyros speechless, pondering whether the man's wife was aware of his skewed priorities.
"They hijacked the train?!" Lucy's astonishment was palpable.
"Why?" questioned several others.
"What purpose does hijacking a train serve?" Lucy queried further. "Trains are confined to tracks; stopping one in its tracks would only lead to their capture by the military eventually."
"But against a Mage wielding magic, the military stands little chance," Erza interjected gravely.
"The question remains: why hijack the train, even after obtaining the spell? Is there some urgent task at hand?" Kyros furrowed his brows, his memory of this particular episode hazy at best.
For Kyros, however, the specifics of the Fairy Tail anime held little consequence; he could easily breeze past them.
"No, we must intervene!" Erza declared with unwavering resolve.
"But how do we catch up to a speeding train?" Lucy voiced the obvious concern.
"I know a path we can take to intercept it," Kyros offered. Having traversed countless trails over the years, he was familiar with ways to keep pace with such locomotives.
"Lead the way!" Erza wasted no time, immediately setting off on her magical quadricycle in pursuit.
Meanwhile, Kageyama still bore the bruises from Natsu's punch aboard the hijacked train under Eisenwald's control.
When Erigor inquired about them, Kageyama reluctantly recounted his encounter with Natsu on the train.
"Fly?"
"I was just aboard that train! What a blunder!"
Erigor smirked.
"Whoa!"
Two sharp wind blades narrowly missed Kageyama's ears, leaving him with a deep gash and a series of pained screams.
Kageyama screamed, dropping to his knees and clasping his hands over his ears.
"Shouldn't he notice?"
"Even if that fly detects it, it won't alter the plan, will it?"
"Of course not! But I don't want any interference, understand?"
Go!
The members of Eisenwald couldn't help but gulp as they witnessed Erigor's cruelty towards their own comrades.
"That fly... we can't let him buzz around these woods!"
Meanwhile, inside the cab of the train, the Eisenwald members spotted an unexpected figure standing on the tracks ahead.
"What?! Someone's blocking the train?"
"Should we stop?"
"No need. He's clearly aiming for suicide; let's oblige him! Full speed ahead! Hit him!"
Standing firm in the middle of the tracks, Kyros smirked, hands in his pockets, as the train charged towards him.
Seeing Kyros's reckless act, Lucy cried out in terror: "Kyros! What are you doing?! Move! The train's coming!" She moved to rush towards him and pull him away.
Erza extended her arm, stopping Lucy with a reassuring smile. "Don't worry. Kyros will be fine."
"What?!"
"Happy" chimed in, "Kyros is the strongest!"
"Ugh~!" Despite still suffering from motion sickness, Natsu managed to express his agreement.
The train hurtled towards Kyros, who made no attempt to dodge.
Unable to bear witnessing a tragedy, Lucy shut her eyes tightly.
"Boom——!!!!"
It felt like the collision of two high-speed trains.
The locomotive's front was crushed directly, resembling squashed cans piled up, while the carriages at the rear were tilted upwards as if in a pole vault.
Lucy stood there in disbelief.
Erza, Natsu, and Happy were also dumbfounded, assuming Kyros would be unharmed.
But to their surprise, Kyros had toppled the train with such force.
"Bang!"
Kyros emerged from the wreckage of the locomotive.
Despite the terrifying impact, he remained unscathed.
"It seems a train can't take me down!"
"Monster!" Lucy exclaimed in horror, covering her face with her hands.
