Chapter 56: Edible?

Maddison looked at Amelia and Edith, more confused than ever. 

"It was delicious and edible," She echoed Amelia's words with slight confusion, "Was it not supposed to be?" 

Amelia placed a hand on Maddison's forehead. 

"When did you last eat his cooking?" She asked, like a doctor asking a patient for details. 

"Two days ago." 

"Did you feel unwell after eating it? Sometimes it takes a while for it to…," Edith didn't continue speaking, she pursed her lips. 

"What's going on?" Maddison asked again. 

"Maddison, Elias can't cook," Amelia explained. 

Maddison laughed in disbelief. Could she have been hallucinating for the past few weeks whenever he offered to make a meal for the both of them? Perhaps if it had only happened once, Maddison wouldn't have thought too much about it. 

But it had happened on multiple occasions. 

"Yes, he can. Are you sure you've tasted his cooking?" Maddison rebutted.
