Chapter 6: Fooling a Fool

As Alex and I sat in the university café, he casually brought up the topic of Nadia's father, a distinguished professor at our university.

"I heard about Nadia's father being promoted to a higher rank," Alex hesitantly said, his eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Before I could respond, a loud and grating voice pierced through the air from a nearby table. It was Nadia, her voice insufferable as she ranted about some trivial matter, her words cutting into our conversation.

Startled, I immediately turned towards the source of the noise and saw Nadia flinging herself onto Canim, as though seeking refuge from her shrill voice. Alex and I exchanged a knowing glance, both understanding the struggle of being near Nadia when she was in the midst of one of her outbursts.

"Looks like Nadia is in rare form today," I muttered, trying to stifle a chuckle. Alex nodded in agreement, amusement flickering in his eyes. Despite the interruption, we continued our conversation, knowing that Nadia's dramatic entrance was just another episode in our daily university drama.

I took a sip of the juice that Alex gave me when I heard what Nadia said.

"Did you enjoy the sandwich I gave you last night?"

I vomited and coughed really hard because of what I heard and gave a death glare to Canim.

How dare he? So that sandwich last night was from her?

I saw his lips forming a smirk and saw him wink at me. I could punch him real hard in the face right now if I was such a troublemaker like his freaky girlfriend.

"Are you okay?" Lara handed me a glass of water and I calmed myself and walked out of the university.

I stood up and was about to leave the place when Alex stopped me. "Where are you going? You haven't finished your food yet."

"I have something to deal with. Could I excuse myself for a moment? Please?"

They nodded and let me leave the place. I went outside the university in a hurry and waited for the cab and, since nothing was coming, I decided to slowly take a walk while waiting until I reached a secluded place. I didn't even know there was a place like this here.

I sighed and tried to stop walking as I got tired when I felt a sudden pull of my wrist. As I found myself trapped in the clutches of my captor, panic surged through my veins like a raging river. His grip on my hands was iron-clad, and when I dared to open my mouth to scream for help, his hand descended like a vice, sealing off any chance of rescue. My heart hammered against my ribs, desperate to break free from the prison of fear that held me captive.

With trembling limbs, I struggled against his hold, attempting to wrench myself away from his suffocating grasp. But his strength was unyielding, and I felt the crushing weight of defeat begin to settle over me. Desperation drove me to lash out, and I aimed a sharp stomp at his foot, willing him to release me from his cruel embrace.

But to my horror, he remained immovable, his impassive expression mocking my futile attempts at defiance. The realization struck me like a hammer blow - I was at his mercy, an unwilling pawn in his twisted game. The cold reality of my helplessness sent a shiver down my spine, as I grappled with the terrifying truth that I was at the mercy of a merciless captor.

"Please be quiet, I won't hurt you."

Are you insane? How can I stay silent if you are trying to talk to me this way? How can I remain calm if you're holding me like this? This isn't how you're supposed to talk to someone.

"Please, this is something you should know about---"

He was cut off when a hard kick landed in his face. He was knocked to the ground, and he shook his head to gain consciousness. I still cannot see his face because of his hoodie.

I was shocked by what had happened, but I was more shocked when I saw Canim on the scene. He threw another punch at him, but I could not let him beat the guy to death. That is the moment that I've been waiting for. He might be an answer to my question. I still need him.

I cannot think of any other way to stop Canim, but just by hugging him on his back while closing my eyes, I cannot stand things like that, it makes me weak and tremble in fear.

I could smell his sweet strong scent and feel his warm body synchronizing with his breath and in a split second, I could hear a loud thumping from... my heart?

Okay, this is absurd. Can you just please do your thing without getting distracted, Kaesu?

I could no longer feel him move open, so I slowly opened my eyes and saw what had happened. I no longer saw the black hoodie guy, so I sighed in relief.

"You can take your hands around my chest!" he exclaimed. I dropped my jaw when I realized what I had just done, and I was about to take my hands off him when he continued. "But not if you still want to." and so I panicked and immediately withdrew my hands and dusted myself off.

"Who was that?"

I just shrugged my shoulders and tried not to look at him awkwardly after what I did and pretended to fix myself.

"Come on, let's take you home."

He was about to grab my wrist, but I stepped backward. "Uh, uh! Too much grabbing for today."

He coldly nodded and walked ahead of me.

"Thanks for the offer though."

He turned his back and raised an eyebrow at me. "You're coming with me."

I shook my head and replied, "No, thanks! I can manage."

As he walked back to me, I instinctively took a step back, but his long strides allowed him to catch up with me effortlessly. I felt a surge of fear rising within me, but I didn't dare to do anything. His presence sent shivers down my spine, and I could feel the tension hanging heavily in the air.

Without warning, he suddenly reached out and pinched me, his fingers digging into my skin with a cruel force. I gasped in pain, caught off guard by the unexpected assault. The sharp sting of his pinch made me wince, and I struggled to hold back the tears that threatened to spill over.

"Why are you so stupid?" he sneered, his voice dripping with contempt. "Do you enjoy making a fool of yourself?"

My heart pounded in my chest as his words sliced through me, leaving me feeling small and helpless. I felt a surge of anger and frustration, but I bit my tongue, unwilling to provoke him further. His menacing gaze bore into me, his presence casting a dark shadow over my senses.

I stood there, feeling trapped and vulnerable, as his taunting words echoed in my mind, a painful reminder of my powerlessness in his presence.
